RE: Skymaster L-39 Assembly and Scheme Change
Hi Kirk, had you probems with the dry transfers on that matt/flat surface? did you sand the suface before applying the transfers? sometimes it is tricky to apply the rub ons on very matt surfaces...sanding with scotch brite grey or 2000 grit soft sanding pads do help. looks good, I´d like that black and white stencils...

Hi Scott, yes, must be sure you will use the right colors, I dont like model airplanes painted in wrong (ugly) colors.... go ahead. but please spray a sample first and compare...where do you get/buy the FS colors? Are these base coat tints? semigloss or matt?

okay...the sun was shining. took the picture.... FS 34095 looks good FS 30450 looks good, maybe a touch of red FS 30117 has to be little but darker havent found an additional FS color which is darker than 30117. RAL 8011 could work, it´s a little bit too dark. hope all that helps...

Hi Scott, have checked the colors again.... dark brwon. FS 30140 seems to be too brownish...FS 30117 does loók much better... green: FS 34102 does match, maybe FS 34095 which is a touch more yellowish beige: dark green: FS 20400 seems to be too yellowish, 30279 too reddish....we have to find the happy medium...FS 20450 could work oh...will be hard to get the right colors...

Hi Scott, maybe you should use the FS 20400, mix a transparent base coat with some white or better the FS color I mentioned. apply that paint over the 20400 getting that more weathered/faded. spray 3-4 coats...

Hi Paul, thats a great idea...I will use 20 mm threaded rod, two nuts.....below and on top of the wing rood.....do not over tighten!!! (do not deform the wing tube!).....I remove all the balast in the nose and the Tutor will be hanging horizontal anytime....but we have a problem now....we have to fly with these two mounted rods....maybe I paint them with blue paint (like the sky).

RE: CARF CT-114 Tutor 2.6m Build thread
Hi Guys, as the original positon in CARF manuals is given on the wing tips a small problem arises to transfer this position to the center of the fuse were normally planes are jacked during the balancing process. So I thought to use a string reaching from one wing tip to the other. but to get the string in a line I had to drill large holes in the fuselage sides. using tape I tightened the string from right wing tip to the left wing tip (see photo). Now the exact position of CG was clearly visible. by marking this location on the wing at the wing rod, I realized that this is in the center of the wing tube. to hang the plane for balancing, appropriate holes were needed for the strong steel cable. I carefully drilled two holes in the wing tupe (dia 20 mm) very close to the fuselage rod (see foto). Easely pulled these steel cables trough this holes to hang the model on two hooks on the seilling. Balancing was now an easy job.

RE: CARF CT-114 Tutor 2.6m Build thread
Ralf What dia is the Grumania gold inlet? I'm guessing its different to the CARF carbon one and the pipe sits at a different height on the carbon heat sheild scoop? The complete carbon duct should be circular and the turbine sit pretty central in that. You are sure the tail pipe sits square to the carbon scoop/duct?? the Grumania gold inlet has the same dia.....have called Ilja from Grumania Jets and he gives me a hint...used a "pipe" made from a paper sheet, sticked on the nozzle of turbine. Have raised the turbine 3 mm....now it fits perfect.... maybe the latches of the lower carbon duct are not in line with the latches of the turbine clamp, which are not located in the middle of the turbine. Canopy finished, cockpit weathered, smoke pump arrived...turbine has been running last Saturday....
