RE: Airfoilz RCU Extra 260
Help!! I just finished my Extra 260 Build and had its madien flight. Here are some problems I can't figure out. I have wing rocking in slower flight and harriers. Back and forth and back and forth. I drew a line at the end of the wing in the middle and did the same on the aileron to line it up straight. When I moved the CG back some it lessened but was still there. As far as slow flight. I read some people had this plane flying super slow. Mine would go slow but always a danger of a stall and some times it would roll left over. I trimmed it out and it would fly straight and true at lower speed and high speed but I was limited to hovers for 3D. I put in the 2 washers under the left side to give trust as per instructions and the plane is built straight. The motor I am using will hover and has enough power to pull out, but not scream out. As far as power I am running the BP A2217-9 Brushless Outrunner Motor (Similar to AXI Gold 2217/20) (No. of Cells: 2 - 3 Li-Poly, Kv: 950 RPM/V, Max Watts:200W, Weight: 73.4 g / 2.59 oz, Poles:14, Model Weight: 300 - 1000g / 10.5 - 35 oz. Prop SF 10x4.7, 20AESC, 1500 3Cell Built plane came in at 25oz. with all equipment. I am used to my flat plate smaller Foamies so maybe I'm just being stupid and this slow speed stuff, but I read that some say it flys so slow the can walk behind it. Mine I need a track star. Its flying more like a pattern plane than my other 3D's. Should I trya differnt prop to work better. I have a Park 450, would that be a better motor? And why the wing rock? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks. RS

RE: HOW-To..3D maneuvers
Great Forum!!! MikeEast Your the best!! You started this and Thanks to all for the info. I have been trying to learn this 3d on my own (nobody else around) and this has been a grreat help. As the attched pictures will show, I still need lots of practice (plus a new plane). But this info will help as I have already noted some things I did wrong. Personal note for all -- Guide wires have a very strong pulling force that attracts flying objects.

RE: NEW-------E-Flite Tribute Fx 3D ARF~~~~~~
Just thought I would share the fate of my FX with everyone. The mods mad it fly better but....still could not get it to harrier and hover like others I have and here is the end result. I actually was working on hovering when it did its usual of rolling to one side. I punched out and saved it, but I can always manage to find the one guide wire to one telephone pole within 1 mile. I did...end of plane. Sorry there is no parts left. Damage was to severe and it was ceramoniuosly set on fire. I do have a park 450 if anyone wants to trade for some smaller inrunners or outrunners as I will not be getting a new FX and stick with my homemade foamies. (least they hover) RS

Futaba T7CHP Dail Problem
Hi there and HELP please I have a Futaba T7CHP TX that seems to have some sort of brain damage. When I turn the adjusting dial it skips up or down past the next adjustment setting. Example, pitch curve setting numbers will go 50 to 45 to 40 to 51 to 48 or what ever the hell number it wants to go to. It doesn't matter which way I turn it, it goes to where it wants to. Everything else works fine. I'm sure it will have to go out to Futaba for repair. About how long do they take and more importantly how much are their repair charges? Thanks RS

RE: E-Flight Tribute 3D FX Flying issues
Thanks for the telling us on how to add the SFG's and other wings. I did it to mine, along with going to a 11x3.8 prop and wow! A new plane. Slows down to almost a crawl and it actually hovers (limited to my skill level). I don't need spoilerions to harrier any more and It knife edges like a dream. I even got a couple of torque rolls (OK, the plane did it...I didn't want to touch the sticks). I recommend the mods to all, it makes some differance. So, thanks for the info. Now I am going to try 11x4.7 prop to see how that works. Again - Thank you. RS[:D]

Outstanding flying. Taking into account that my flying skills are now where near that good,(I would find that tree), the SFG's made that much of a differance? If so, I will be making them tomorrow. RS

John I am running the park 450, 20 am esc, 1250 E-tec 11.1V Li-po. Prop is 12x6 Electric. I am not great with the prop stuff so I didn't know what else to try. I have moved the battery as far back as it can go. RS

RE: E-Flight Tribute 3D FX Flying issues
I'm using the Futaba 6CHP so I programmed in one of the mixes to be equal ailerons up as the elevator goes up. That way when I flip my switch and use up elevator the ailerons go up equally. If you don't have that on your radio, you can try the air brake switch and set it up so when you flip the switch instead of elevator up and ailerons down it goes to elevator up and ailerons up. I first did that by changing the aileron % to the opposite on my radio. I don't know a damn thing about your radio so I can't get that specific. If you need me to I can find out. Also, skip what the CG recommends. I put my battery as far back as it could go, just short of the balsa wall and it did make a differance. I trimmed mine out at 1/3 to 1/2 throttle and it will stay level (except when the wind hits - then skippy) Setting it up so both the ailerons and elevator go up together makes a big differance. No matter what I don't know if it is possible to get rid of the rolling on it's back though. I'm gonna try a heavier battery when the weather clears to see if that makes any differance. I'm running a E-Tec 1250 now, gonna try a 1500 I have. I'll let you know. RS

RE: E-Flight Tribute 3D FX Flying issues
Rickc Thanks for the info. I had the same with the elevator. I'm trying some epoxy now to see if it holds better. I tried some other info on the plane and it helped alot. I moved the battery back past their CG and set the radio up with Spoilerons (elevator and Aileron mix). With that set up it becomes a new plane. It does the harriers and will hover for more than 10 seconds. I was blaming my servos for it's jumping around, but I guess it doesn't like the wind as much as they said it would. I got it because of our lovely NY weather. I like it and it does look good in the air, but I agree that it seems more of a pattern plane. Now I gotta go buy a new foamy for those few and far between calm days. RS

RE: NEW-------E-Flite Tribute Fx 3D ARF~~~~~~
Hey Thanks to all. First I tried CG. Moved it way aft. Slighly better, but battery is full back. Then I tried the radio mix. What a differnce. Harriers, Parachute, elevator and hover -- much better. I was doing great and then Mr. Wizard thought -- Hey, Lets do that on landing. Oops -- to much -- 45 in. Strong plane. Broke the prop (lucky). Now its a wind storm in NY and I don't think I'm ready for 25 MPH winds. So, Thanks to all. Now I just gotta get it to Knife edge. (Probably more me than the plane) and a Waterfall (definitaly me) This plane sure can do walls, blenders, and flat spins nice. Little fast compared to a smaller foamy or Balsa Katana, but such a blast after getting all annoyed at trying to get my Heli to fly right.

E-Flight Tribute 3D FX Flying issues
Hi I need some help with the Tribute 3d FX. It will not harrier or hover worth a damn. Inverted it will. It keeps wanting to roll off in either direction. Harrier's wing roll right or left and hovering it wants to lay over on its back. On parachutes oe elevators, same thing.. it wing rolls right or left. Throws are set at manufactures recommendations. Expo is at 35% for all. I tried 60% on ailerons and played catch up way to much. Plane is set for straight and level at 1/2 throttle. For what ever reason it floats better upside down. Servos are Esky -- ? causing problem?? Motor is Park 450 with 20 ampESC and E-tec 1250 11.1v. Any help would be appreciated.

RE: e-flight blade cp twitchy problems
If you adjust the gain and it doesn't seem to help any I would get a new tail motor. They wear out super quick and the the tail acts retarded. Mine would have go nuts and never hold a heading, after 2 days of that crap, I finally figured out that the motor might be bad. Replaced it and no problem. I have since replaced 3 more.

RE: Blade cp beginner?
I started out with full training gear and nerves of rubber with the Blade. After crashing more times than I care to count, I cut the training gear in half. What a difference it made. The heli was much easier to control. I was able to hover about 2 feet off the ground and stay fairly stable. One week of that and off the gear came. Without the gear it flys even better. Now I can hover with no problem, tail in, side in, (nose in if I plan on going to the LHS) and can now actually fly it around the yard. Just requires plenty of practice, trim checks and a LHS Gold card.

RE: E-FLIGHT BLADE CP
Here we go again. After total rebuild, it will hover 6-12 off ground just great. Steady as can be and very controllable. BUT, I ain't going no higher than that. Tried diff batteries - same thing, increasing pitch (takes off same 6-12 - sets back down as engine rpms drop, decrease pitch - don't want to lift off. 3/4 way through battery pack the tail sometimes goes nuts - Hold just a bit and fine - let go and it will spin either left or right.(Only sometimes - sometimes its fine.) It requires almost 3/4 throttle to lift off, go much more and engine rpm drops and down it comes, back to 3/4 and rpm increases and we make it back up to the 1 foot mark. What the hell is going on. Should I call for a exorsism on this thing? Somethings bad but I can't figure it out. RS

RE: E-FLIGHT BLADE CP
Had that happen with the heli reacting to the wind. It resulted in my first experiance at FF and my first parts trip to the LHS. You guys are right about this hovering stuff, however, the way I hover I am always reacting. Getting pretty good at it. Now I can go through a battery pack and remain in the air. It's that sudden sick feeling that you get the split second you relize you pressed right on the stick and it should have been left thats got me. Hobby shop guy says "keep it up you'll get it." Yea, as I just payed his rent for the month. On a good note, after following advise given. I rebuilt it and it flys great. I am at 3/4 throttle to get it at a hover, but it holds and handles pretty good now. Is 3/4 normal or am I still a little low on pitch. Again thanks to all as I am better with a shotgun than this heli and the heli almost found that out, buts it's still safe (for now)

Yep, swash way off, pitch off, just about everything off. Time to strip it down, check everything and rebuild it. I must have been looking at it sideways when I did it the last time. Only good thing, if I could fly it like that before, maybe I'll look like I know what I'm doing when it's built right. Thanks for everybodys help. RS

RE: E-FLIGHT BLADE CP
Thanks. Blade pitch was off. The motor never got hot, normal warm. Now it lifts at about 1/2 throttle and holds pretty stable. I do experience a drop in rpms and alttitude when applying right aileron, not left. Normal? It also sometimes wants to go to foward flight really quick. Its still a stock Heli, Batt and flat bottom blades. One time it will hover fine, then the next time I have to fight to keep it under control. I can't say its all pilot error, because it seems as though every now and then it gets a wild hair up its butt and wants to do whatever it wants. I also have a Blade CX and I can fly it everyway with no problems. Are these heli's that skittish? Again, thanks to all for the help. RS

RE: E-FLIGHT BLADE CP
Thanks. Main shaft was bent bad and the blade were to tight. Wobbles gone, but now it seems as though I lost power. The motor spins up to about 1/2 fine, go past 3/4 throttle and the motor slows down. It now needs almost 3/4 to hover. There is no binding anywhere. It will hold at 3/4 but when I throttle down to set it down the revs increase. Past 3/4 and the red light comes on in the 4 in 1. Is it possible the motors going? Any other ideas. RS

Thanks. Igot some of that on hand. Didn't think of it. Now the wobble is back at the rotor head. Does the main shaft bend everytime the blades hit the ground or boom? I've replaced everything but the pin thru the shaft and it always seems like the wobble comes back. Then we start that yo-yo crap. Am I missing something? This is driving me nuts. 2nd problem. I have a honeybee2 that starts out fine but then the motor drops power, set it down, wait 30 sec, start up, flys great and then motor drops again. Any suggestions? Oh, yea. Thats got a small amount of wobble also, very small though. Thanks for help

[:o]OK, just a bit of info for everybody. LHS is about 20 miles, so I decided to use automotive emblem mounting tape instead of servo mounting tape (looked the same and I had some). It's not! Elevator servo let loose and then all flight charateristics go out the window. Wow, Acrobatics, throttle and ground. Moral, ALWAYS use servo tape. Just thought I would pass that along. Now I gotta go the the hobby shop anyway. (I'm personally paying for his summer vacation). Keep on flying no matter what happens

RE: E-FLIGHT BLADE CP
I agree, Keep Politics out. Keep on flying. I'm new to the Blade also (stock), finally getting the hang of hovering. Time and Patience and lot of trips to the LHS. I've found out that the transition to foward flight is pretty easy. Its the stopping and getting back to a hover or landing that hurts. I've also discovered that with a wind gust and battery getting low they climb great and land sideways even quicker. If you fly them in a area with a white roof, they make a very nice circular mark on a white ceiling. The best mod I have done was to the TX (Stupid ratchet). After I did that I semi look like I know what I'm doing. If you ever need any parts and can't get them, You let me know and I'll make sure you do. Finally and most important of all, Thank you for what your doing, We support all of you, are very proud of you and and wish you a safe return. RS
