RE: Diesel ECU Settings
Specifically, what should the settings be for a 170F on diesel?

Sounds interesting. Do you have any info such as a website or some specs? A video of the brakes in action would great aswell.

RE: Ultra Flash ground handling
Stock behotec and Intairco wheels and no issues at all on grass and asphalt. Never had an aborted takeoff. Sounds to me like some left stick practice is in order along with some proper setup.

Yes that is normal for some of the wheel to hang down. You won't notice it in the air.

RE: Ultra flash or Bandit
I only have personal experience with a UF. Can't speak for the Bandit but I love my UF. I fly it hard with a K170F and it takes it well. I have a transport stand custom built for the UF which eliminates the delamination problems from transport as far as the fuselage. As far as the aileron and flap hinges, they are not an issue as long as care is taken during handling. It goes together fast and easy. The fit and finish is fantastic and the paint is equally impressive. The only issue I had with mine so far (40 flights) is the main fuselage tank leaked around the neck during the pressure buildup during the filling process. I put some hysol and cloth around the neck and it solved the problem. I am also going to drop my fuel pump voltage from 6.6 to 3v or 4v. If my UF were to go in, I would replace it with another UF in a heart beat.

RE: The New Modellbau USA F-16
Something I would like to know is the height of the vertical fin with the gear extended. I have a flat tonneau cover on my pickup and it would be nice if I could put it in the back and be able to close the cover with it sitting on its wheels.

I want something with some snot behind it so I would like to keep it around 7 or 8 lbs. The bu is looking like a better and better. Option. I am a little leary anout putting a rather expensive tuirbine in a hk airframe...

Jetcat P20 SE - what airframe?
Yes...another "best airframe" thread. Looking for a suitable airframe for a P20. I have lots of turbine experience under my belt (Tornado and an K170 UF) so pilot experience is not an issue. I would like something that houses the turbine on the interior (not on the outside like a tornado or kingcat). Also leaning towards a sleek sport jet but I will consider anything. Here are the details: -Flying off of 450ft of grass. -Would like something to take eflite 15-25 retracts. - I would like to get a tams pipe and trailing links without brakes as people really seem to like them and it is easily available My first choise would be the GBR Stinger but seeing as it is out of production I will have to choose something else. Seriously looking at the Habu 32, HET 90mm super sniper and the CMP T45. I don't mind modding to make the P20 fit but I don't want to completely re-engineer the airframe either. Cost isn't an issue.

RE: CARF Ultra Flash
Yup....the bouncing means you are going too fast. I do not use crow but I use all the flap I can get (about 70 degrees) and give it lots of time to slow down. Even with a 170 it will go amazingly slow before it even begins to stall. Give it time to slow down and try it up 3 mistakes high and see what it will do up to and just as it stalls. What I do that helps is I leave about 50% brake applied before it touches down...then just as the mains touch, pull up the flaps and it will stick to the runway like $hit to a wool blanket. I control my flaps with one slider and my brakes with the other. It can be a busy sequence at first but once you get used to it, it works great for short strips.

RE: CARF Ultra Flash
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o0uUNg543iQ Here is mine with Kingtech 170. Not sure what the top speed is but it has to be approaching 240. (the radar couldn't pick it up) Flew it beside a buddy's New Rookie that was clocked at 222mph and it is considerably faster. If you don't need a "speed plane" like you say, you don't need anything more than a 120. Like the boys have said, one of the new Rabbit 100's or a 100RX would be a great choice. I do find mine has a fair bit or residual thrust but it is easily manageable with a nice long, decent approach and alot of flaps. I normally fly off of 450ft of grass and usually use about 250 ft before she stops. I wouldn't trade my UF for anything....ever. It is worth every penny. Stratotanker here on RCU makes and sells a wooden stand that is built specifically for the UF...buy one if you haven't already. It is worth every penny (if memory serves, it was right around 100 bones). It makes it soo easy to transport, assemble, disassemble and work on at the field...both upright and inverted. This will prevent any delamination on the rudder or elevator hinges during transport. Like it has been said, the delamination issues are typically user induced.

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video
How do you guys transport your Ultra Flashes? (Mainly the fuselage) I am going to build something... Perhaps some sort of cradle that will double as a stand for assembly and disassembly at the field. My UF will be transported in a trailer with lots of room. The major thing I am concerned about is making sure the paint does not wear or scuff when the trailer is rolling down a bumpy road. Pictures would be nice! Thanks.

As far as I know, we do not have a waiver system here in Canada. MAAC (Canadian equivalent to the AMA) does not have any speed limits or any requirements or systems in place geared towards turbine aircraft. It is pretty much a "run what ya brung" situation.

I like how you rigged up the air disconnects and the servo servo wires for the wing underneath the fuselage tank. Thought about doing that with mine however I already have my fuel pumped mounted in that location.

RE: Kingtech K80 F Start Up.
ORIGINAL: POWER JET I tested the battery by putting her in a glow plane with 6 standard servos on it and gave me 11 flights! I was checking her, between the flights and after these 11 flights has 73% power left on the battery!! It was not the battery!! it was brand new as i said before! Maybe every Kingtech has his own whims!![:D] What can i say?
When you measured the 7.9 volts, was that measured duringt he start sequence or was it measured after you tried to start the turbine? A drop to 7.9 from 8.4 on a 5000 mah lipo would, to me, tell me that the battery is defective. A few years ago, I spent 100$ on a brand new Thunder power 2100 3S battery. It lasted one 2 minute flight in my 450 heli and then it failed. The heli was not the problem as i had 3 other Thunder Power batteries that I had used in the heli with no problems. It was a faulty battery directly from the factory. Don't be fooled becuase it is a brand new battery. If i were you, i would try plugging a watt meter inline between your turbine battery and your ECU. This would tell you the voltage drop on the battery but more importantly it would tell you how many amps your battery is delivering during the start sequence. Without going into battery theory, testing a 5000 mah battery by powering 6 servos in a small airplane is a flawed test as it does not put enough load on the battery.

RE: Kingtech K80 F Start Up.
Sounds like your 2S lipo has some issues. Try measuring the battery voltage with a voltmeter directly at the battery during the startup phase...especially when the FACED engages the igniter. This will give you an idea if your battery is defective. Batteries are hit and miss....sometimes they work flawlessly for years and sometimes they do not work straight out of the box. You could be getting a voltage drop somewhere between your battery and your igniter that is being masked by using the higher voltage LiFE pack. You are burning Kero? I will be running diesel in my 170F and I was told by Barry that you need a higher voltage for the igniter to ignite the diesel. He recommended a 3S LiFE pack. I am going to use a 3S 4200 LiFE.

RE: HobbyKing - Good or Bad
Depends on your definition of "good" and "bad" and which side of the fence you are on...whether you are a retailer/distrubutor or a consumer. I would imagine they have many NA retailers and distrubutors feeling nervous. I have many orders with them with the odd hickup but when you consider the price point it is hard to complain.
