RE: Inter Active Toy Concepts "Firefly" vs. "Mosquito"
Well, I just jumped on to the merry-go-round. My Mosquito will be arriving in a couple days... Updates will come at that time... I couldn't resist it. Mine was $10 with $23 shipping[&:] What dummy has the shipping be more than 2 times the item's price?????[sm=spinnyeyes.gif][sm=drowning.gif] (That smiley is funny....)

RE: Micro (non-coaxial) Helicopter
Hmm, I must have been thinking of the Honey Bee CP2. Yeah, get the Honey Bee in this case, I guess. But a motor-driven tail is so much simpler... Also, the Axe was hovering nicely in a 3x4 FOOT space... Barely enough room for hover adjustments. Hey, I had to fly somewhere, and it's snowy, cold, windy, and dark around this time of year in MN.[;)]

RE: Micro (non-coaxial) Helicopter
Get an Axe CP. It can't be beat for transitioning pilots, and it's really hard to break. Flies real nice, it's very smooth and stable. Oh, just make sure you get a Li-po for it; the stock batt is about as bad as they come. The Honey Bee is smaller, lighter, more bouncy, and tougher to get the hang of after coming off a BCX2. The Axe is nice and solid and has a nicer radio, which contributes to its flight charateristics.

RE: Walkera/Dragonfly/Esky 4ch transmitter/receiver technical review.
Well, I'm befuddled by the the terminology, but considering the fact that I'm bored, I'll stick around[;)] Now that the coaxial heli issue is moving on to a different thread, let's get back to the piece of plastic that flys our birds. In case it hasn't been covered or if no one has noticed, the Tx itself is actually set up as an airplane radio with no heli hardwiring. The rx does that. I've done some work on this thing myself and found that it can fly a GWS Slow Stick with the stock Rx that it comes with just fine. Question: Is this the same with the 6ch CP Tx or does it have some heli programming? Also, please speak in a more widespread language because all I know is English and a bit of Espanol. I'm not recommending this, but I've never had any problems on 3S 1200mah packs. Half hour flight times, too! Come to think of it, I've never fried a main motor, broken a blade, or scalped the neighbor's lawn. Well, it's official: I don't fly enough[:)]

RE: HOw fast in FFF
Chophop, please be careful of the innocent gnats and flies on the receiving end of your advancing blade. Yeah, if my 2.5-inch ducted fan on my Synapse can provide 85-90mph, why can't a heli go the same? Regarding jvthert's post saying a Walkera/ E-sky heli can go half the speed of a T-rex, well, mods solve all and beyond that, who cares? P.S. I covered 136 feet on launch with the Synapse in, like, 3 seconds at 3/4 throttle so I know its claims are true. Also, I made an AeroAce go 40mph with a Marksman slingshot[X(]

RE: Walkera #4 Fixed Pitch Helicopter Forum
Wow, I haven't been here for awhile... Well, I tried to get my #4 up again, but then along came the Synapse and suddenly all my equipment was mounted on that little rocket (which has yet to fly successfully). Someone wants a list of A.M. parts? Kyosho caliber M24 blades GWS Speed 300 motor GWS CN-12 tail motor/0320 prop 3-cell, 15C, 1200 mah Li-po E-sky 3-n-1/ Sep. 4CH radio!!!!!! Servos that won't chatter, burn, buzz, hum, smoke, grind, crackle, melt, warp, explode, implode, die unexpectedly, run backwards at the wrong time, flash, beep, fizzle, sizzle, lock up, go crazy, decide to move to full back-cyclic at shin-height 6 feet away, etc. etc. etc....... This setup is the best I've found so far. The 4-n-1 could be the cause of the motor problem, but first check if the brushes have fried, if the solder joints are tight and not short-cicuiting on the motor can, and make ABSOLUTELY sure there are no excessively tiny screws caught in your motor.[X(] If it is the 4-n-1 just open it up and smell the tiny little ICs, if they're still there at all. If not, go buy some new ones and solder one on. It has to be a problem with the motor-control circuit assuming all is well with the motor, and that means the little 4410 things that I've dealt with way too much over the past 2 years.

RE: slow stick helpppp
Ok, if you're planning on flying off a pond with floats, go brushless. Oh, and use a lipo, too, something around 1200 to 2000 mAh and 11.1 volts. You'll want the power. See, this thing's real draggy, so taking off from water is going to bog down a brushed motor too much. Go with an out-runner and a big prop and you'll have no trouble with anything. As for the ailerons, try using dual standard-size servos. Also, be careful about the CG. I've stalled WAY too many times from bad batt positioning.[:o]

RE: don't but an air hogs entity
Heh, use your imagination. 2 powerful motors and an elevator? Try a Hobbico free-flight plane retrofitted with this things elecs. Maybe some gluing and cutting is required, but it works with pretty much anything. Maybe put in a stronger batt, new props, an LED system, and even stronger motors? GWS CN-12's with 3020 props would be sufficient for a 20 inch, 3-oz airframe... Sorry, I'm getting ahead of myself.. Now I want one!

RE: AIR HOGS U-BUILD IT
Well, judging by the bad remarks, I'd say I'm perfectly happy with my aero ace. Funny, I almost picked up one of these things today, but decided an Ace was as good as anything with some mods, so back to the operating table! I've had 3 Aces with no problems ever unless you count a sticky motor. I'm always a bit leery about tiny planes, and it seems I may have been correct this time. A good plane is relative to what the pilot has flown before.....

RE: This is a COOL AeroAce mod!
Oooh, some competition for my mods! Nice lookin' plane...uh..dragonfly...thing... I did that to my ace a while back, but not not nearly as...extreme. I just used my bottom wings as rear wings on the tail. Fly, fly flip, spiral, crash[;)] Of course, I've done some cutting and pasting, too. Try taking off the bottom wings of a stock Ace, then cutting 3/4 inches off each of the top wings. 25mph barrel rolls! Or how about putting the bottom wings in their opposite slots? PSYCHOTIC slow flyer if done right, but it only works with the newer Aces (their motors seem stronger). The V-tail mod didn't go too well, and more success could have been asked for with the bodyless mod...Looked cool, though. And I still hurt just thinking about my slingshot-launch system. Ripped open the whole front end just before launch....Led to the bodyless idea.

RE: Walkera #4 Fixed Pitch Helicopter Forum
Okay, does the Exceed Rx have a little light that blinks on and off, probably by the gyro trim pot? Or, from my personal experience, try opening the case and looking at the CB. Are all the solder joints still connected? Are there some little spidery things that say 4410 on them? Are there any burnt spots, stripped-off green foil, brown plastic visible, or exploded electronic components? when you open the case, watch for little black transistors falling out. What this sounds like to me is the solder melted or the transistors fried, and now no power is going to the motor. Do the servos move normally? try plugging the main motor into the tail output and vice-versa. Now does it work?

RE: Alternative AXE CP parts
For the gyro, find the rudder plug on the Rx, then plug it into the new gyro and plug the new gyro into the Rx. Now turn the 3n1 gain all the way down and mount the Telebee gyro somewhere. This way, the new gyro functions as a sort of co-pilot, sending commands to the tail motor ESC for the Rx. This will work with any tail-motor heli as long as it has a 3n1 that is not built into the Rx. If this is done with gyros with different PWM frequencies, they can work together to make the tail even more rock-solid.

Ha, I've never crashed my Axe, so this thread is of little help to me (yet), but my DF#4 looks like it got run over by a steamroller[X(] That thing has really helped my repair skills skyrocket, but after 3 years, 2 DF#4's, and over $700 in repairs, I decided to move on to a CP bird. FRIGGIN AWSOME!!!!! Some tips on heli repair: NEVER EVER TRY TO REPAIR BROKEN BLADES!!!!!!!! This is EXTREMELY dangerous! Would you rather spend $10 on blades or $10,000 and 6 months on crutches, or be blind, or be a heli-related death statistic? I'm completely serious. Use hot glue for frame and skid breaks, where tons of strength is needed. On plastic parts, use a soldering iron to melt breaks together. For canopy cracks, use Scotch tape inside the canopy to avoid ugly looks. For head parts, buy the metal ones[;)]

RE: Newest palm sized contra heli from Walkera
That heli is AWSOME!!! I saw it for the first time in person behind the glass display case at my local hobby store. It is certainly the Walkera one because it had walkera written all over the Tx. I thought Walkera only sold online in the U.S. You really have to see it to get a sense of how small it really is. I thought it was a picco Z clone at first. It's $120 plus tax, and I'd've grabbed it if I hadn't picked up an Axe CP the day before. Oh, and I just got the axe 2 days ago[:)]

RE: Walkera #4 Fixed Pitch Helicopter Forum
Hmmmm.. Just got a Helimax Axe CP, left my mark in the CP world, and I was wondering if there was a way to increase batt life. Well, hunting around for awhile, I came across something interesting. Someone was saying something about flying a heli with a homemade extention cord adapter plugged into the wall. In theory, this should work..... Simply plug the stock charger into an extention cord, make a long connector, plug this into the heli, and have unlimited flight time. Was this person being sarcastic or does this really work???? The polarity would have to be perfect the first time around, or I'd have a 3n1, rottisiere style. Also, the voltage could be different than the batt provides, so I'll have to look at that. If all goes well, though, I could have a heli that would only land if I felt it needed to cool off for a bit. Or maybe if it was annoying someone. Or if I got too aggresive and broke my lifeline[X(]

NOOOOOO!!!!!!! Don't do the laser thing! I tried it and ended up with $25,000 in debt payments for "landscaping damage and public endangerment"! [;)] Actually, I just got my Axe 2 days ago and haven't had a chance to try anything other than ride my bike 2 blocks to the park, take off, hover, and land, then go home and charge for an hour, then look outside and-surprise- it's nighttime! Other than that, I like my Axe a whole bunch. Now I want to flip the idle-up switch and really get going, but I kinda don't trust the gyro. I don't want to be going 40 mph and have a gyro failure[X(]

RE: New Axe is here!
Oh, and if you want more tail authority, simply stick a Blade CP tail rotor, tail shaft, and tail spur gear onto the Axe tail rotor mount, but put on the Axe tail blade and stack the Blade one on top of it to form a 4-blade tail rotor. Does that make any sense? It won't work with the Blade CP heli because its tail motor is too weak.

RE: Walkera #4 Fixed Pitch Helicopter Forum
Hmmmmm.... I had a similar problem with an Aero Ace recently, but mine was the result of an unintentional swimming pool landing (it's an embarrasing story- don't ask[X(]) When I turned it on, the props would both start spinning. I had normal control of them, though, aside from that. I just let them run for awhile and it went away. Are your Tx batts old? Is your antenna still soldered to the CB? Did moisture get into your Rx? Does your gyro work normally? Do your servos start twitching at all?

RE: Walkera #4 Fixed Pitch Helicopter Forum
Heh, no I didn't overcook that. Have I mentioned that I'm running the stock GD prop with the pinion on the motor? Maybe that's my problem.... Still, the motor's designed for Century's 3D whatsitcalled, and it came with the pinion attached, like it's supposed to be used with a gear drive. I need a gear puller to get the pinion off, come to think of it, if I'm going to use a DD system. Perhaps I did just get a dud motor[&:] Well, my proportional pot is all the way up, my gain is at about 3/4, and I'm running a 3S lipo, so power's fine.... I think I'll get my RCU bipe up and flying (easier said than done) so I have something to fly before harsh, foam-and-plastic-composite-crackingly-cold MN winters hit. Does anyone know where I can get the linkage parts trees for flatouts? And how do I get the linkages setup without breaking them? [X(]

RE: Walkera #4 Fixed Pitch Helicopter Forum
All this tail motor stuff is making me start to wonder if I'm doing something wrong with my heli, or if it's just my radio's nonexistant trim range. I have that Century HB High-performance blah blah blah motor, it's just like the GWS C-12 that people use with the itty bitty DD tail prop. Now, when I take off, it spins C. clockwise and not even holding the stick all the way right can stop it. A possible culprit is my radio's trim range. For the servos, the trim barely makes them move at all. If I overcooked something, what is it? These radio issues will be solved when I have the money for my dream radio, the DX7.
