Question about lipo size (mAh) and "C" ratings
I am looking into getting a brushless setup for my 1/10th scale buggy and truck but have a question. I have heard that you should run it on the top half of the mAh rating. Is this true? Example would be that if I run a 5000mAh 2S pack, then at the the end of a race it should take 2500 mAh to top it off. I can't remember where I heard or read this but basically it was saying to only use the top half of the pack. The way I understand these Lipo's is as long as you stay above the minimum voltage, you are good. That's why they have the cut-off's.... right? I am looking at the Novak Havok with 17.5 brushless motor and an unknown Lipo pack. I will be club racing in 5 to 6 min heats. Any clue as to the size of the (roar approved) Lipo I should look at? Don't need or want overkill on a battery pack but don't want to come up short either!! Thanks everyone! RB

Hey Integra, How do you check the clutch shoes with calipers? Are you checking overall width of the shoes while installed or the thickness of the shoe or what? Never heard of this and looking for a way to know when shoes are going to go. Thanks

Need help setting up a mamba on a Mini-t
Having some trouble with a mamba on a mini-t. Just put a Spektrum 3.0 with a micro rec. in a mini-t, already had a mamba installed and it was working fine. It seems that the spektrum is affecting it somehow. When I try to get into the program mode, it just takes off full speed. After a bunch of tries, I get it to program. I can't get it to calibrate at all. I'm sure that may be affecting any other programming as well. Anyone else have this issue? Thanks for any help...

RE: is the O.S 21vg a good engine?
I am with Rockman. I have run the same setup with the same result. I race with a few guys that have to tune all night to get other engines to run right but my little OS just keeps going. It is not the fastest but unless you have been racing a while, it is a GREAT sportsman engine. Remember to that an angine will only last if it is taken care of.[:)]

RE: OS .21VG revisit and owners check in!
I would say that this is a great starter motor. My son started racing in the 1/8 scale class last year and has a pretty good record with it. It gave him a chance to get used to the gas buggy as he raced 1/10 electrics for quite a few years. After competing in a larger race with about 70 in his class of sportsman drivers, he ended up with 24th overall. Now he is letting me start with the little VG and he has upgraded to the VZB. Not sure how much fuel we have used - 2 or 3 gallons - but O'Donnell 30% is what it likes to burn. It also runs great at 270 to 280 and has plenty of smoke. Can't get it to run much lower than that. Took it apart and looked at the inside and it looks brand new. I have had a lot of motors but have never seen one like this before. If and when this motor gives up, it will have been worth every penny. My favorite part is watching it run 6 min. and having almost half a tank left. My new buggy!!!! (it has the VG motor, but I changed the head)[:D]

RE: 2007 Las Vegas Tracks and Events
Hi Tiger My son and I are looking at traveling around to different tracks and seeing how we do. He has an 1/8 scale buggy and I have an LST. If we brought them to vegas, what would be a good place to run them? I see some of the trackes are specific to electric or larger scale or on road. There must be some place to run? By the way, your pictures are fantastic!! Keep it up. RB

RE: Why is nitro fuel so expensive???
That makes sense. I try to support the local shops with my business and try to only order on line once in a while. But.... I have to go with the best deal for me and if I have to go from shop to shop, I do. One shop sells a gallon of 30% race fuel for $32.00 and another shop sells 30% for $20.99. This is an expensive hobby and some people have more money to spend on it than others. It would make a funny Mastercard commercial, but the fun you get out of these cars and trucks is worth every penny.

RE: OVAL AND OFFROAD FUN RUNS
Your Fun Runs sound great. I am in sunny California or I'd show up to one! If I ever get back there, I just might show up. Gex and I are going to do some traveling around to some other tracks and have some fun. This is a great hobby and a lot of fun indeed. Here is our local track. Not very big but a lot of fun. We have about 85 to 95 people on oval nights and racing runs really late. from about 7pm till when ever - usually about 12 or 1 am. 11 to 13 classes!! VERY COOL!!

RE: Best bang for the buck LST upgrades?
I have had my LST for a while now and I have broken the arms and "C" hubs. Upgraded to the RPM arms and no more breaks!! Put on the upgrade kit but kept the arms. Best ever. Everyone on here has had different issues with breakage so it depends. I upgraded and still upgrade based on what I just broke. (and what I was doing when it broke!!) It's a great truck though!!

RE: Mounting some new tires
Sorry, I guess that would help. The MOAB 40 Series XL Tire from Pro Line with the stock white foam. To be clear, I am wanting to know if it is ok or normal to have a gap between the foam and the tire. In the middle of the tread, I can push in on the tire and it moves about 3/16" before it hits the foam. I'm afraid they will balloon too much. Is this ok??? I really like the way they look and they are for bashing and goofing around.

Mounting some new tires
Greetings all, I have a question about mounting tires. I bought the LST upgrade kit for my LST. It came with the 420 rims so I had to buy some tires [:D]. When I put them on the rims, there seems to be a gap in the middle of the tread. What I mean is when you push on the middle of the tread it goes about 3/16" in before it touches the foam. I timmed the foam edges and they look great but I am concerned. I dont want to see them expand when I grab the trigger. I know they will anyway but I don't want to make it worse. $$ for tires and I want it to be right. Any help? Anyone seen this? Thanks in advance, RB [8D]

Offroad beginner....set up help/questions??
I am new to the off-road stuff and would like to race a little. The track has some really large jumps and my truck slams down very hard. Is there a way to set it up so it doesn’t bottom out on a free-fall landing? Most of the jumps have a landing ramp but a few are flat landings. Also with the larger track I reach top speed about 1/3 down the straights. I am shifting fine and I know it's going much faster than it looks, but how can I speed it up? I read on other posts that the "high speed gear set" is nothing more than High Torque. What gives?? Any help would be cool, Thanks[:D] RB

RE: SportWerks Chaos
I would say that it's like any car on the market. When you buy it, if you want it to be truely sweet, you have to add some aftermarket parts. I don't think the Kyosho parts will work but you never know. The motor is a big part that is a must IMHO. The .05 that comes in the car is in about 4 or 5 other cars - I think it's called a Toki Engine - anyway it's so hard to tune you can't have much fun with the car. I am convinced that this WILL be a totally fun car to play with but it will take some work. My son has the thread going called unofficial track thread. He is Gex_61 so if you want to check out where we drive in the backyard, go for it. This little car is too fast for that track. I'm not sure how fast it goes but it's pretty fast now. Can't wait for some hop ups!!![:)]

RE: SportWerks Chaos
That's actually my LST. Without the body it looks different but it is a monster truck. The LST is supposed to be 1/8 scale and the Chaos is a lot smaller! I put half 8 wheels and tires from the Kyosho buggy on it (the Chaos that is) and they work really good.

RE: SportWerks Chaos
This is it with the new motor. It looks the same!! This motor runs really well and has tons of power (for being so small). It was night and day for me. Very easy to tune and no problems at all. If anyone knows what can be done with the diff's - please pass along some tips. I am going to make this my project car and try to get it running and driving as well as I can. If I had it to do over I would most likely pass on this car but I wanted a small nitro and didn't want to wait. I also figured my LHS would stock more parts.......oh that's right......there are no parts for this!![:@] It's still fun to drive and people will always have a comment or two.

RE: SportWerks Chaos
I got one of these for my birthday and I'll tell you this,,,,,it was really hard to work with. The looks are great and it sounds just like an 1/8 scale buggy only small. I had hoped to run it in my backyard track, but it's just too fast for it and the brakes are not that good. I have run into trouble in trying to upgrade parts on it. As with all RC, if you want it right you have to change some things. the first was the motor. I tossed the .05 motor that was impossible to tune and replaced it with a Pico P-Zero. It's a .06 and runs like a top. Idle is great and it screams!! Next was tires. I put on some Kyosho half 8 tires and they fit great and look even better. Next will be the servos and I'll upgrade the rest as they become availible. It's a fun little car for running at the park and the local track. I really wish there was more out for it though. I also have had a few tough crashes and have still not broken a part. It is a tough little car to. If you want more info I'll try to help. I can get some pics up Tuesday.

RE: What wheels fit the RC18B?
I bought a set of hex's so I could run the 1/10th scale sedan tires. Gives great ground clearance and now I'm going for some rally tires and try it in the dirt.
