RE: thunder tiger reversing y harness??
Then your not doing it right. Flipping the servo or the arm will reverse the direction of the movement. If the servo is mounted to the axle then automatically it should be reversed when you install one on the rear axle. Buy simply flipping the servo horn around you can see that it changes the travel direction.

RE: thunder tiger reversing y harness??
If you can not position the servo in a way that will work then you do need a reversing y harness. But you should have no trouble getting it to work by just flipping the servo or arm.

RE: trail truck/crawler
If you want a proper scale truck that can work everywhere then you might like the High Lift series from Tamiya. It is more expensive and its crawling ability is no where near that of the 4 linked rigs out of the box. But due to the design its much easier to run standard electronics in wet conditions and with a few mods there are very few places a 4 linked scaler can go that it cant. What it lacks in crawling ability it makes up with speed, power, and appearance. It does require at least a 4 channel dual stick radio to work properly. But other than the occasional pinion gear in the axles there are very few parts that break. In 2.5+ years of hard running the only things I have broken are the mirrors and a few axle pinions. Here is a picture of mine. I went for the old skool monster truck look. [image]http://i573.photobucket.com/albums/ss175/ReaperGN/Tamiya%20High%20Lift/RF%20tires/MVC-117F.jpg[/image]

Need a little help with a Futaba T6J
I just got this radio and am not used to all the programing options. The manual probably has the answers I need but its not giving them up without a fight. I plan to use the radio for a ground vehicle so I need to turn off or change the throttle alarm so that when the stick is centered all is well. I just converted the throttle stick to self centering so as soon as I turn it on the alarm goes off and its getting old real fast. Any help setting this radio up would be appreciated.

RE: Next project: Tamiya Tundra Highlift
The High Lift can get over many obstacles with ease if your a decent driver. It wont work at extreme angles and does not have the best clearance. But its not so terrible that an axial rig will run circles around it. The best things you can do for a High Lift to help it out is install some 2.2 wheels and tires. Nothing crazy, just something about 4.7 inches tall is fine. Then add a little weight to the wheels to counter balance the heavy body. Then about the only other thing you need is the hardened pinions from RC4WD. The stock ones work well but they do break from time to time. You could also get the locked diffs from RC4WD to make the axles bulletproof. Electronic wise you DX6 will work well. Especially if you decide to add 4 wheel steer. For the esc I would install something with about 50 amps of power. The shift servo does not need to be anything special but I have found adding a servo saver to it improves the shifting. For the steering servos I suggest you check out the Savox 0251mg. It has tons of power and is more than fast enough. If you start adding lights, 4ws, etc I suggest you get a Castle Creations BEC. I would not bother with the Junfac 4 link kit. You may as well buy a SCX10 if you want a 4 linked truck. I would also avoid brushless motors and not run any motor with less then 18 turns. If you need any help with lifting the truck to accept larger tire let me know.

RE: Tamiya Hi Lift Tundra/Futaba 7c
You only need a 4ch radio to fully operate a High Lift even with the sound and light kit. Personally I feel the sound and light kit is a waste of money. For what it costs you can buy a proper receiver, better esc, motor, and a servo or two. As to a channel being a channel this is true. There are designated frequencies for cars, planes, and helis but since 2.4ghz came out there is no difference between them. In other words a heli remote being used for a ground vehicle wont cause the heli next door to go crazy. At least with a 2.4ghz system.

RE: Servo's
The esc powers the receiver in most cases. But a esc cant handle high draw setups. To fix this problem you can use a receiver pack to power the receiver and servos or a external bec. To run such setups you need to disconnect the red wire on the esc plug that goes to the receiver.

RE: Servo's
Get some Savox 0251mg's. They produce 222oz of torque and only cost about 35 dollars. The only issues you might have are they don't work well when powered off a esc and they are about 1/4 inch taller.

If price really does not bother you a whole lot then name brand is the way to go. The big companies offer better quality, parts support, and design. They also have much larger aftermarket support. Here are some brands I would suggest getting. Axial Tamiya Kyosho Venom G Made Losi

RE: HSP 1/8 crawler
I feel you would be better off buying a name brand rig in the 2.2 class. If you want a cheap crawler the Exceed Max Stone is not to bad but for a few more dollars you could build a venom creeper. If you don't mind used you can find Axial and losi crawlers rtr for 200-250 dollars.

Also it makes things much easier when you specify what your talking about. Your last 3 posts seem very off topic. As for the suspension. The front can not line up and the rear not, if the links were backwards. Either something is not in its proper place or its the wrong kit.

RE: Finally I got Toyota Tundra High-Lift
Its because he has the link kit. With stock parts he couldn't really mess it up. Except if he put front springs on the rear, which I believe only effects the Tundra. I could be wrong though. The strange thing is all the parts he did swap out instead of parts he should have. For example why get hot racing shock mounts? If I was going to change that part I would have gotten the 4 link and chassis kit from Junfac. And with all the unnecessary parts he could have easily bought the lockers and pinions from RC4WD and bearings. I also don't understand why everyone wants the junk traxxas servo's. Even at 6v with 1.9's they are weak. But at least the hole he dug has some nice furnishings.
ORIGINAL: The Collector1 Personally, I would not consider the Highlift a crawler because of its low transmission but as a scale rig its fine, and its pulling power is awesome, if you were looking for a Tamiya crawler, there is the CR01
This is very true. So many people want the High Lift to crawl. It can do very well with a bit of work and patience but it was never designed to crawl or marketed to do so. In the Scale class its a top contender.

This thread probably has more High Lift owners watching it than any other on the net. It would be nice if more people would buy the High Lift. Then there would be more aftermarket parts and possibly bodies. It would be cool if Tamiya would release a Raptor body and front IFS conversion.

Definitely looks like there wont be a build. Such a shame to. The only club more exclusive than the High Lift one is for the Rock Force. Sadly I have both and its very lonely. And I have have no doubt that the price scares people away from the High Lift series. Figure about 450 for the kit, 100 for the radio, 60+ for the servo's, and 30+ for the esc. But considering what comes in the kit the price is not to bad. To get a SCX10 to the same level would cost much more than just buying a High Lift.
ORIGINAL: lazris my buddy has one after six months of play the leaf springs busted , hung up once and shelled the rear end do not leave it at factory specs sits to low , i am gettin one but think i will have better luck with the komodo axles, junfac 4 link kit , and the g-air tires
I have had mine for 3 years and have yet to break a leaf spring so that must be your freinds fault. And considering how much a High Lift costs it would be compeletly pointless to buy all that on top of a High Lift. If you want a 4 link truck buy a Axial. If you want Komodo axles then buy a Komodo. A stock High Lift with electronics is worth about 400 used. Add all that junk to one and you will be lucky to sell it at all. Let alone make a profit. As for the axles they are more than strong enough. Mine has pulled 200+ pounds on the stock pinions. The only thing that kills them is people who cant drive. If you want to make them stronger RC4WD has it covered. Chances are the High Lift is not for you at all.

RE: Hobbico?
Took me a minute to understand what was going on. The info is there but at first glance its a mess. And here is what wiki has to say about Hobbico
The company distributes about 300 brands of hobby products including several dozen proprietary product brands. Proprietary brands include: Revell, Monogram, Top Flite, Great Planes, AquaCraft Models, FlightPower (North America), Heli-Max, SuperTigre, O'Donnell, DuraTrax, RealFlight, MonoKote, Carl Goldberg Products, ElectriFly, Coverite, Dynaflite, Fuji-Imvac, FlyZone, Team Checkpoint, MuchMore Racing, VS Tank, Estes Industries and others. It is the exclusive distributor for Futaba radio control products in North and South America, for O.S. Engines in North America and Thunder Tiger in North and South America.
With their newest purchase there really is not a bigger company. Traxxas likes to claim 60% of the market but they never give specifics. If any one were to own that much of the market it would have to be Hobbico. They got hobby grade RC on lock down with just that list. Add the other 200+ brands and it counts as a monopoly. Who ever is in charge of Hobbico must spend more on dry cleaning than most people ever do on RC.

RE: scale crawler suggestions?!
The body is a bit ugly and the electronics are not the best but its not a bad rig. Its basically a creeper with a different chassis and dig. Since its based on the creeper there are a fair amount of upgrades. There are nicer scale rigs out there but either they are overly popular like the axials or to expensive.

RE: A little motor help.
I have a old motor similar to that sitting in my parts box that I would like to pass on to a friend for a crawler. It feels rather strong and very smooth and should offer similar performance to my Trinity 550. Being able to place a number on it would be nice for comparisons. As for the Kv and turns I tend to split them into brushless (kv) and brushed (turns). I know a Titan 12turn is similar to a cheap 15-17 turn 540. Just not sure how other motors compare.
