RE: Who is frustrated with this Hobbie?
Swath, You stated previously about material for tarps, I went to an old navy store with my girlfriend to do some shopping, and low and behold I walked over to the "bargain" rack and found a pair of pants in this grey'ish color for 10 buckaroos turns out it worked great for simulating the tarp on a german transport vehicle and I have plenty left over for other projects, they even had a pair in an olive drab color, so for 10 bucks the pants served there purpose [:D] I don't wear them though because there is a big hole in the crotch.[:D] Wade

In other words if they built them for the Port side of the Tank with the Damper oil reservoirs at the right of centre. Then when mounted on the Starboard side the oil reservoirs would still be right of centre when viewed from the Starboard side. In other words the oil reservoirs are at the rear of the Bogie assembly on the Port side and at the front of the Bogie assembly on the Starboard side of the Tank. RE: Which tank is best for my son? Many questions!
Hello Bob, and welcome to the forums. Ok first off, if you decide on a 1/16 scale tank, for a first tank I would recommend a Heng Long tank, from rctankwars.com Phil inspects all the tanks before they leave his shop to make sure they are working properly, now with that being said, these tanks WILL need maintenance over time, they have gotten better over the years but they still need attention, I own a rustler and stampede also, and they have only broken when I have tried to exceed the land speed record and whacked a tree [:D] . These tanks are not them. they require maintenance, also the 1/24 vspro tanks I have heard are nice, not sure if they still make the airsoft though. You could get one for your son and one for you and have battles (IR) which use beams to transmit shots and hits. Other people on here will add to what I have said and help out, this is a great forum and everyone is willing to help. And since it took me long to type this, Shenlonco beat me to the punch lol [:D] Cheers, Wade

RE: Landing Craft Tank
Very nice. This is by no means taking away from your work, but wouldnt it have been easier and more cost effective to make it out of balsa and then maybe fiberglass it, for strength and waterproofing? I have never attempted something like this but have wanted to and was just curious. looking for an easier approach, I don't think I have the patience to cut all that plastic, maybe it will give me a reason to buy one of those 9" band saws. Anyway it looks great. Wade

RE: Idiot's Corner
Swath, either you have a high thigh bone or your boy's are hanging a little low[:D] ugh that sounds horrible, I am glad I am not the only one who, let's say is mechanically and mentally challenged at times. And who was it who said always and I mean always face the knife blade away from yourself when cutting, where do they come up with these silly ideas. I heard a story on the news awhile back, where a group of friends (drinking) good start huh? well they were outside and witnessed a racoon going into an old pipe in the ground, well the one friend decides to pour gas down the hole and then go have a look see, when he got stuck in the pipe, he decided I can't see so he lit his lighter, and you guessed it, he was shot over the house, human cannon ball style. oh to have that on video Cheers, Wade
ORIGINAL: YHR Stuff like that never hurts to see again!!!!! I have read and re-read a lot of the tips and besides bookmarking everything, just thought it would be nice to have one set location for everything. These tips are great. Maybe even include how to's for things like changing suspensions, or adding plastic or metal details to tanks not just weathering but all different facets. Cheers, Wade

RE: Totally Fed Up!
I am currently also in the middle of three projects (hint): it doesn't end. And now the Shermans are out, just great. One tank with elmod, one just because, one for IR battles (german tiger) and eventually a sherman for IR battles with the tiger. Trying to plan for a wedding, my fiance might be pregnant, I am back in school and I have three boxes of tanks and parts and can't remember what goes to what. No wonder I am losing hair. RE: The Shermans are in at Mato
ORIGINAL: BarkingSquirrel I didn't see those wheels touch each other either. Furthering my belief that some user had an agenda. Rebellion, I didn't mean people that want HL to make one like yourself. I meant people who swear that HL is making one and use pictures of the Mato Sherman as thier proof that HL is. I've seen it a time or two here, but its mostly other forums. Sorry for not being clearer.
Oh no problem, sorry I didn't make myself clear either, I quoted you because I just wanted to add my input, not saying you were accusing me, just saying I was one of the people who would like to see HL come out with their own version, and see how well they would do with their version. [:D] I mean for all I know the mato elec might be better then HL's, and if Darkith can mod a battle system with it [sm=thumbs_up.gif]

RE: The Shermans are in at Mato
ORIGINAL: BarkingSquirrel I like all these people saying they'll wait until the HL Sherman comes out when the only evidence whatsoever of a HL Sherman is actually just pictures of the Mato Sherman.
I am one of those people, I don't know if they will either, but I am hoping they do. And the only reason is the elec. not sure how well the mato elec's are though, so I shouldn't judge a book by its cover. I am just more familiar with HL. Also maybe HL will pay attention and improve on it, I know wishful thinking. But as Swath has stated they are going to improve and have aftermarket parts. If I had the money I would buy a Tamiya sherman and fit the mato aftermarket vvss on it when that is released Wade

RE: The Shermans are in at Mato
Here is my 2c. I would most likely buy one and convert to HL electronics, or finish my other three projects and hopefully HL comes out with their own version, and then I wouldn't have to change the inards. Also YHR I agree with you on everyone has choices, I just wish the scale would be better, I could live with the rocker boxes. Wade
