RE: SLU Backordered ?
Thanks for the replies guys. Just curious as to what was happening, I hope things turn for the better. I was planning on a Tamiya Pershing but a new short course truck might be calling my name lol. Cheers, Wade

SLU Backordered ?
Does anyone know what is going on with this system? I may have missed the answer somewhere along the line. And when the Clark boards surfaced, As others have been interested in the TK-20 and 30 so have I, but with recent developments I will most likely pass. Now with that being said, there are a few other concerns. The hooben electronics are frowned upon and from my recollection the SLU uses the same manufacturer. The SLU units have been out of stock for quite some time now, and I haven't heard anything. The aftermarket systems seemed to be flourishing a few months ago but have seemed to do a 180 and we are back to just a few reliable choices once again. Tamiya, Elmod, DBC3/Benedini combo are the few that are still standing the test of time. Now I know the TK boards are new and maybe should be given a chance...time will tell. I am just trying to get at least one of my tanks up and running, with others to follow basically for fun in the backyard. All eventually will be for battles. Just drives me crazy as I have a hard enough time deciding on a system and I weigh all options (price, quality, options etc). Where is my money oak lol. I really don't have the money or time to go balls to the wall with my builds at this time, I have other RC's that are taking up a chunk of tank funds. So back to the original question, what is happening with the SLU? I will now step down from my soap box. Thanks everyone Cheers, Wade

Gens Ace NIMH?
Do any of you have any experience with these batteries? I know Shen recommended their lipo's, but was wondering how the nimh's are. On hobbypartz site they run anywhere from 10 to 20 bucks cheaper then other manufacturers batteries with the same MAH. For a 5000mah stick pack they are $21.00. I have looked at allbattery and their packs run around $30, traxxas packs are $40 to $50. I will jump to lipo once I get my new charger for my rc trucks, but I want to still run nimh for the tanks. Cheers, Wade

RE: Clark electronics TK20
Does anyone know what the allied sound set is from? I like the idea of supplying your own sound sets, but at $90 for the tk30 it is still pretty inexpensive to have one for each tank. Cheers Wade

RE: Clark electronics TK20
Dan, your review has peaked my interest. I am still looking for alternatives for my Sherman and this is another option. I like the sound sets of the elmod (tracks, turret, reload, etc) but like you said for $60 a hell of a lot less then elmod. I am curious to see how it holds up in battle. Would you say the sound is on par with Tamiya? And I missed this, but it does except a Tamiya apple correct? Video anyone lol. Just checked the website, and I see it does except the tamiya apple. Cheers, Wade

RE: Story of Two StuG's
Looking good. I have used that product also, uses an actual metal in the gray solution then you add the other solution to rust the metal flakes. I like how you can vary the effects by adding more or less. Also you really need to do that in a very well ventilated area, that is some nasty smelling stuff, which you already know. I read on the product it can cause kidney damage, if you inhale too much. But the results are nice. Cheers Wade

Great build Dan. I may have missed it, but did you check and see if the elevation works using a rx spare channel without the sounds of the guns going off? Love the bumper sticker also, still waiting to see a moose in the wild....plenty of trips to Maine but haven't seen any yet. Cheers, Wade

DB, Couldn't you just replace the new mg light wires where the other original mg light wires are? That is what I did with my Tiger I had before I ripped it apart, just replaced the original mg with a new one like you want, and wired it where the old one's were. Cheers, Wade

I was going to suggest PVC glue but I see you have tried that. Another thought I've had, not sure if it would work but, have you seen a plastic welder? Works like a regular welder but with plastic rod, might be an option and the prices vary on welders from cheap to expensive, just like our tanks lol. Cheers Wade
