Alight T-Rex 500. A bit more money than the Rex450, easier to fly and see, about the same parts costs when the crash repair bill comes in. Imo, stay away from the clones. Parts replacement is a pita, the kits themselves come with little or no instructions. Gary

Twice the voltage, half the current needed. Wish I'd seen this before I bought my protek PS. Its good, but more $$. Fwiw, I have seen Hyperion chargers on 24V, they love it !! Run cooler, fans just hum right along. The link to the one cappaj1 leads to looks the one that will do the trick. Gary

RE: HobbyKing 4B6 Multi port Charger
This does not help, but what others have said about Hobby King re their return/replacement policy along with a lot of variance in quality is the reason I purchased (albeit at a higher price) my Hyperion battery chargers. The blessing in disguise could be it failed on your third attempt at usage vs it failing and possibly smoking (really!) your battery or even more. My .02, Gary

RE: 440mm blades on a 500ESP with 3GX?
The big diff between fb and fbl blades is where the balance weights are. Have been told the fbl's are balanced more towards the tips. As for longer blades, methinks you will eat up the batteries much quicker due to the increased swing (length) load. Check with others, your mileage may vary. Gary[8|]

RE: charger and battery?
I have used Hyperion chargers and batteries with great success. Their batteries are pricey, but after many charge and discharge cycles the cell voltages are spot on. Also the latest of their batts can be charged at up to 5c rate. Gary Smith, aka Red Bron Gary

Will the newer 600E's run on 1 6s pack or are two 6s packs required? Am looking at battery costs here. I do thank you for the notes on no interchange of earlier vs later parts tho. Typical Align way of doing it. Just like the nitro birds. Don't update it, just redesign it and render the old stuff obsolete. Gary

Buy the Scorpion and maintain it per spec. Much more performance than stock, just get their lube and use it after 4 or 5 runs. Nothin to it. I have a scorpion in my T-rex 450 *VERY* nice lo buc performance increase. Gary

RE: Trex-500 and Torque Tubes. ARGHHHHH!? Whats the point?
Good point there, Von Ohain. But more than that, metal to metal makes for various sizes of metal particle dust to whirl about inside the canopy and find its way to crbas and bearings. From a electronic standpoint metal to metal does not make a lot of electrical noise that would be much of a bother at the frequency our radios operate on. Gary

You will need some help tuning the head. As my good friend at the LHS sez, "you can build a FB heli out of the box and it will fly. But.. with a FBl, you will need help to tune the head to get it right." He would know, he is 30yrs old has been flyin'em since age 12. The torque tube is much more efficient and responsive. I updated my 450 from belt to tt, batteris no last longer, remain cooler after a run. To keep the tail rotor from fiinding the weeds to soon look for a Musono skid on the web. It is 15 mm (just enuf) longer to keep the rotor from the hard stuff. Gary[:)]
