RE: Jensen Ugly Stick Build
What location are you balancing at? It seems very odd that it would be nose heavy with the OS 61. As I recall mine was pretty much dead on with an OS 61. She was very very tail heavy when I was trying it out with the OS 40. But once I put on the 61 she was perfect. I didn't have to add or change anything.

RE: F4U Corsair From Internet Plans
She's coming along. Tail section is coming together. I've got the parts built I just need to get them together and mounted. I need to work out controls on the rudder. I think I'll conceal a torque rod inside the fuselage. The shape of the upper fuselage isn't good for control rod exits. Suggestions on the size of rod for the torque rod? I've never built anything this small. I don't want to over do it! I couldn't resist a few pictures with the tail section set in place. Nothing glued in yet just set in place. She looks like a corsair now! Sean

RE: F4U Corsair From Internet Plans
Hi guys, Sorry for the long delays. I don't like building much over the summer. Had some nice rain finally make its way in here so I moved my shop and got started again! This is the second time I've moved my building room. I think I'll be staying in this location now! Here are a couple of pics. The top half of the fuselage is now pretty much complete. The pictures don't show the completed fuselage. I'll try and get some more this evening. I wrapped it with 2 pieces of 1/16 balsa. It was a tough wrap! The corsair has lines and multiple radius going in all different directions!!!!!! The drawings were off a bit and I had to pull a few formers out and remake. That has been part of the hold up. But she is starting to look like a Corsair now! I'm going to get a weight on the top half as soon as I get the tail section built and on.

RE: Top Flite 1/7 P-51 Build
Hey Bob! Don't let the retracts slow you down! I've heard really good things about all the Meister stuff. I've been kicking around the smaller meister 109. It's money holding me back. I don't have a penny to spend right now. About the only thing I can do is try to re-build my Old Red Box P-51. Not sure I can afford that either. I even thought about buying the plans from TF for this P51 so I could scratch it. But they want a good deal of $$ for just plans. I'm getting along with that scaled down 36" Corsair. Fuselage is close to completed....I've got a thread on it. sean

Hey Bob! Let me know how you remove that canopy. I've gotten one that is all messed up on the inside. I'm not sure how to get the bugger off. I'm finishing up a motocycle project here myself. Will be painting this week. I've in the mean time slowly started moving my shop to a better room in the basement. Going to install a lock on the door too!! Got to many little fingers and "roommates" who like to overtake my small portion of the house!!! I'm going to get something started soon. Been looking over some RCM plans for the KI-61 Hien/Tony. I found a canopy on E-bay for the drawings. That's all I really need for it. So it's making it very tempting at the moment. I'm not a fan of Japanese aircraft, but the Hien's do have some awesome paint schemes. Sean

[:D] hehehe, I do know exactly what you mean! I've found some canopy's on e-bay at a reasonable price. I'm thinking maybe I should build this thing now. I'm not sure about a few things on the construction. I'll keep you posted here. Maybe if I get it started it will get a spark going for you. would be nice to have some help along the way. Today my project will be cleaning the basement area and building a work room for myself!!!!!!!!!!! In the process of painting my motorcycle too at the moment. it will be done soon. Sean

Too bad hearing about the crashes. It's bad enough to loose an airplane but to loose it on the maiden. You don't even get a chance to enjoy it! [&o] Bob, I checked the website you posted for the fiberglass parts. They actually have a cowl for the "OLD" Red Box version. They dont' show the radiator scoop though. If I could find the radiator scoop and cowl I would probably strip mine and rebuild it. Are there any other fiberglass sites I should check? Sean

I don't mind at all! Knock yourself out. I would probably suggest changing colors. The blue does make visibility a bit tough. I woldn't have chosen blue but my son insisted! The Red tail surely helps. I tend to fly everything very low so the blue hasn't been a problem for me. I have no problem if you wanna duplicate my scheme. [:D] Just post some pictures. WOW! Looks great Alex. I love your scheme. You'll love how she flies too. I have been pretty busy here. The Corsair has made no progress lately. I haven't had the stick out either. Things have been so busy lately. I'm hopeful to get the DUS back in the air within the next few weeks. I'll be joining a new club this year. Last year I was a member at a nice club but it was 30 minutes away. That made it hard to get energized to go flying. This year I'll join the local club. It's 5 minutes away. It is a bigger club and not as friendly a bunch of guys but it's close. Cant waite to hear how the maiden goes! Sean

RE: Top Flite 1/7 P-51 Build
Hey Bob, How's the traveling modeler doing? Are you gonna be in the Charlottesville area end of June? Our local field over here does a Jumbo Fly in each year. This year is the 25th annual. There has been some beautiful "big" Mustangs, Thunderbolts, etc come in. My office is right across the street from the field. This Jumbo fly in is what got me back into RC. Sitting in my office one day I heard this roar and looked out and thought there was a P51 overhead..........Come to find out it was a Jumbo fly in across the street!!!! Let me know if your in town. Here is a link to the [link=http://www.vrcfc.org/files/2009_Jumbo_Flyer.PDF]FLYER[/link] . If we can get together sometime when your over here, I'll get you some video of the Mustang. I'd love to see it too. Sean

I have the fuselage coming together at the moment. Thanks aerowoof for the Profili tip. I think I have the wing ribs layed out and ready now. I've got a busy next 5 days or so with work. RE: Jensen Ugly Stick Build
Hi Nergal! That's another great way to hatch too. I built a sweet stick years ago. It had a hatch that way too. I was originally going to build my DUS that way too. The only reason I changed my mind was the nose gear. On my Sweet Stick it was a pain in the uh huh to get to the nose gear with the balsa up front. I wanted a clear unobstructed path to the nose gear and the engine mounting stuff. Your build looks great. I'll be tagging on there to see the progress! Sean

Hi Jrcaster! Good to hear more sticks are being built! She is a great bird! I agree about the rubber bands. Get rid of em!!!!!! I'm not sure how much other redesigning she needs. Sounds like you know what your doing though so have at it! My wing is flat no dihedral. I wouldn't build it any other way personally. Much easier for starters. I just built the whole wing in one piece. Check out how I did my[link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_5480239/mpage_5/key_/tm.htm]hatch[/link] post #115. I'm real happy with it. Post your progress. RE: F4U Corsair From Internet Plans
Here is the start. It took a while to get the scale right. I'm still working on the wing ribs. I really don't understand Profili. Is the F4U wing considered Elliptical? The leading edge sweeps back and the training edge sweeps forward.........When inputting the data for the wing do I just use a standard Trapezoidal? I got the stab finished up and a few of the fuselage formers cut out. I didn't get a shot of the finished stab. Nothing impressive there. I decided to build it from 1/16" sheeting with 1/16" sticks. It finishes at 3/16" and is pretty light. Sorry nothing more to look at yet. I didn't get as much working time as I hoped for. Sean

RE: F4U Corsair From Internet Plans
Howdy guys, I got my cowling and canopy today from the local hobby shop. They were much smaller than I anticipated. I've got the scaling done and the wingspan is coming in at almost 31". Fuselage length is 22-1/2". I was guessing to be bigger. Electrifly lists their corsair at 32" wing and 27" fuselage. My wingspan came in close but the fuselage is off a little. I wondering if I may have to extend the nose some for balance? Maybe that's what they did? Hopefully we'll get the balsa dust flying this week and I can get some pictures online to generate a little more excitement. [8|] Sean
