They are in loads of Nissan Altimas and Maximas too. I like my factory setup in the Altima 3.5. Decent Mid range and Lows.

RE: Disappointed in RC Advancement Over Last 20 Years
Brushless motor technology is advancing pretty fast in the RC world. It has slowed in other applications: tooling, appliances, and transportation industries. Radio control hobbies will never be the world leader in technology, too many other more important uses of technology in my opinion: medical, transportation, militrary fields where life and death matters are concerned. I see Electronic Fuel Injection as a potential improvement in glow engines to facilitate easier tuning and consistent performance, but the price and packaging of such systems will have a steep learning curve. On-board starters, telemetry, and flight data recorders are all pretty d a m n techy for toy planes and cars I would think. I agree the hobby needs innovators, not imitators, and no more complainers! That is why we build in our basements or workshops, so we don't have to listen to everyone else's complaints.

You all terrain floor buffer works beautifully! Love my Monsoon XP as well. Has a different front end, the only big difference. Get a set of Proline pre-mounts in half offset for the track. sniper, caliber, and crimefighters are all good all purpose race tires with good tread life.

Ditto, I have really been impressed by the EXI Metal geared High Torque servo I got from Hobbypartz.com Performs every bit as well as the $120 JR servo in my other truggy. It was either the D226 or D227. The higher torque one anyway, it is plenty fast too, with great centering-$24 as I recall.

RE: thinking on dealing redcat
The backdraft 8e, earthquake 8E and aftershock 8e are all fine. The monsoon xtr and hurricane xtr are solid too. I'd look into the new 1/5th. scale electrics as those should be hot movers when released. The micros look like a fail to me, but the crawlers are all solid, just have better servos on hand for customers. Extra batteries and radio parts as well. Redcat will drop ship many items to the customer direct so look into that as well. Good luck, their brand has some image repair to be done. The entry level 1/10 nitros may be better now, but they used to be awful. I have really good luck with their 8th. scales owned 2.

RE: Whats the best 1/8th scale Nitro Truck right now under 500 bucks..
LST XXL is way more truck than any stock Savage or Savage XL. I have owned both and my Losi is the true monster. Better diffs., better suspension, way better electronics and engine RTR. The only thing the Savage has is those freakin cool FLM weapons grade upgrades! The 3 speed is gimmicky, doesn't really make a difference. I have seen both beaten and broken, the Losi is far easier to wrench on too.

RE: Redcat 8e Shocks???????
You need heavier springs to help against bottoming out. The Revo springs fit as do the Jato. Run Revo (front) green springs up front and Revo (rear) white springs in the rear with 40 wt. oil. Mine has jumped a lot better ever since. A little stiff, but for big air it is great. Laying down your shock angle helps too, inner holes up top, outer holes on the arms, but you lose ride height unless you crank down the preload collars on the shocks.

RE: Price difference
-apples to oranges. Name brand, highly engineered product vs. copycat design, rebrand for $300 less. Besides, the Volcano is a clone of a Tmaxx, not a Revo. The Revo owns the racing MT scene until last year (LOSI LST) Tmaxx is just the most popular MT platform of all time (not the best, just popular). As far as toughness goes, Savage and LST might have that title to themselves. In the end you get what you pay for. I own 2 Redcat 1/8 scales (monsoon xp and aftershock 8e) and 2 Traxxas 1/10 scales (Emaxx 3905 BL and Jato) My redcats have held their own.

Look into 4 wheel drive rigs like the Losi ten-t. Runs circles around 2 wheel drive stadium trucks in the dirt. On pavement the Jato owns. I like my Jato very much, but it doesn't compare with 1/8 scale buggy/truggy.

4S, 14.8 V is the maximum for the 80A Hobbywing ESC. You can get a higher "C" rating for more punch like, 40C would be terrific as it is already quick with the stock setup. 5000mah 40 C Lipos can be had cheap from hobbyking.com

RE: Savage XL - 60 days of hell
How new to the hobby are you? Sounds like a Nitro MT may not have been the best choice for starters (complicated running gear), as these are pretty common problems, but I agree that throwing replacement parts at the customer is not the best solution. Your LHS should be stepping up to help you as well, shame on them. To avoid stripping shafts and owb's you need to loosen your glow plug when you first start it (then tighetn it once running) and up until finishing break in which is sometimes past the 1 gallon mark. I am shocked you went through a tranny as those are rugged units. I am glad your truggy is holding up as that is a good truck as well. As a sidenote the Losi XXL does look far better on paper, but that doesn't solve your problem, I would hold the LHS guys feet over the fire to work with HPI for a fix.

RE: Need help with steering on Monsoon
That is how they all look, you don't need to straighten the upper arm rod. Your problem is more likely in the steering rack then, since your knuckles are free. Either that or your steering servo is shot. More light in your photos would help try using a flash.

RE: Need help with steering on Monsoon
The front end is probably binding at the knuckles. I loosened my pinchbolts a half turn each and put a drop of lube on them and they freed right up. You want that bolt so it is just threaded into the nyloc insert of the nut, no further. Also my steering bar bent during a crash so make sure that is straight as well, with no binding. All of that caused my servo horn to strip the splines, so I replaced that and have been good to go since.

RE: Issue with O.S. 18 TM
I believe you are experiencing half tank lean bog. You might have an internal air leak in your fuel tank. I'd replace the tank or test it with another models first, if possible. Usually this happens with Savages, but any model can suffer from it.

RE: Backdraft 8E questions?
12 mm. hex means it can utilize all the Slash wheel/tire combos. I prefer the 17mm. option too, but it is available as an upgrade already. Cainlord, they are 16mm. big bore shocks (alloys available as upgrade). A race configuration is definitely do-able, and could still come in well under the price point of the current offerings by Losi, Associated, etc. I'd go for it if there was a class in my area. The stock ESC, Motor would be plenty quick for track time. Get some 5000mah 2 cell hard case Lipos and better radio gear and you would be quite happy. Even the stock servo is metal cased, geared, and quite durable. Very quick turn-in, with 125 oz/in torque rating.

RE: Aftershock8E anyone ?
Charge time on mine has been 2.5-3 hours per pack, and runtime of 20-25 min. hard driving. Yes most Maxamps Li-po. packs would have the same balance plug as the stock charger. I would suggest Zippy Lipos over maxamps, cause you get way more for your money. 5000 mah 30C rated Hard case packs are half the cost of a comparable maxamps pack which tends to have exaggerated C ratings they quote their max burst rating more often than not. I would look for a package deal on a dual charger and packs, but the punch and quality of the stock setup is fantastic for a RTR! The truck is quick and turns really well in stock form BTW.

I'll let you know when mine gets here Tues. According to the math between 18-22 minutes hard driving, mind you. The batteries are twin 3200 mah 7.4 20c Lipos. The only variable, in my formula was exact vehicle weight, it is quite heavy from what I have heard.
