RE: Kyosho Corsair - Videos Inside
I still have mine. It has CJ air retracts, OS .91FS in the nose, and it's now at 9 lbs 0.2 oz. Yet, it still flies and lands great. No bad habits.

Below are some videos showing me taking off my H9 Mustang. My CG is at 4.5" back from the LE next to the fuselage (4 - 3/4" is too far back). * [link=http://www.warbirdobsession.com/h9_mustang/videos/take_off.wmv]Maiden Take Off[/link] * [link=http://www.warbirdobsession.com/h9_mustang/videos/take_off03.wmv]Take Off #3[/link] * [link=http://www.warbirdobsession.com/h9_mustang/videos/take_off04_scale.wmv]Take Off #4[/link] * [link=http://www.warbirdobsession.com/h9_mustang/videos/take_off05.wmv]Take Off #5[/link] It's all in the thumbs.

[quote]ORIGINAL: collectivepitch when taking off it wants to tip over on the nose if you ain't careful. is this he way they take off or do i have something out of wack? [/quote] That's pretty much normal with the H9 Mustang. It's a balancing act. Throttle/elevator management is key and will become second nature. I have my 16-oz tank on the CG, which helps during take off.

RE: Robart 550rs Retracts
Both the 550's and the 551's are great retracts. No slop and no set screws needed for the RS models. Just insert oleo struts and tighten the collars. I've been using a set of 551RS in my Mustang for years.

Most R/C shops carry decal papers, including those made by Testors. Testors even makes a decal printing kit. For a more realistic look, I would cut masks out of low tack paper and airbrush the markings on.

I'm surprised Slimline doesn't already make a muffler for the Saito 220. I would think any mufflers for the Saito 220 would fit the FG-36.

RE: Saito or O.S.???
Ah, the famous "Ford" or "Chevy" question. It depends whether you need nose weight or not. What P-51 is it? If it's a Top Flite, go with OS. If it's a P-51 ARF, go with Saito. If you have extra cash, go with the pumped OS just in case fuel tank placement might turn out to be a problem down the road.

RE: Painting Camouflage Patterns
To me, the two stage is much easier because I can close down the needle when spraying the outlines, then gradually pull back the trigger on the airbrush to widen the spray pattern in real time in order to fill in the middle of the camo patterns. All these actions are done without modifying any settings on the airbrush.

[quote]ORIGINAL: 123Splat Do you find that you get better results with thinner, than usual, paint mix when turning the preasure? [/quote] You want to be at around 20-22 psi and around 3 parts paint to 2 parts thinner. A double action, internal mix airbrush will give the best result.

[quote]ORIGINAL: 123Splat Richard L. Do you use mask boards, or masking, or just move the airbrush in close? Splat [/quote] I prefer to airbrush freehand and thus don't use masks. I just lightly draw the camo patterns onto the tank with a pencil and spray within those pattersn. I usually use a fine airbrush tip and don't spray at high pressure to avoid getting overspray.
