RE: Hacker A60-7S V2 28 Pole Motor
Very cool Steve. What brand props are those? Watervliet NY? Do you fly at the "Black Dirt" field?

RE: Hacker A60-7S V2 28 Pole Motor
Just flew the first 6 flights on the Hacker A60-7s. Running 2x4500 Zippy 35C packs. With a Xoar 21x10 2400 watts. With a APC 22x12 3000 watts. Pulled a 13lb 78" EF extra with great power.

I have been flying the same Menz 28x10 on a DA 100 for 3D for longer than I care to admit. Can anyone tell me how the "new" wood props compare to this baseline? Thanks, Rob

RE: 12x vs. 11x
I moved from a 10x to the 11. I also copied most of the %'s etc and they were very close, but still fine tuning. With that said...it was worth the trouble to upgrade.

I've tried an 8G Cannon and a 128G Sandisk. The Cannon was the one I was able to upload the newer firmware with but as above neither is working for storing data files...

11x Data / SD Card
Anyone have any success backing up data to an SD card? I have two cards, formatted both to FAT, but neither seem to be working. On one I get an error as soon as I point the copy program to the SD card, and the other I get the error when trying to copy the file. I should mention, using the second card I was able to update the firmware. Also, did anyone notice, "boot-up" is MUCH longer with a SD card installed? Thanks Rob

RE: 12x vs. 11x
Raf, I was thinking by the time I buy an 8x to (Sorry) "play" with Heli's I might be able to get an 11x and sell my ten for around the same $$. Allan, Thanks, that is great info. Any idea how many bearings are on the 10x? I take the ratchet off my throttles anyway because I find when hovering (fixed wing) the clicks are always in the wrong spot. I would appreciate seeing the ACRo programing differences. Channel wise for the fixed wing I am thinking 4 for ailerons, two for elevator, two for rudder, throttle, choke = 10 (What I am flying now). and as you said most of those are mixed and don't need a separate slider or switch.
Which configuration, ACRO, GLID, or HELI, are you interested in. To cover all three will be to lengthy. Allan
I have had a 10X for about 10 years and fly primarily giant scale, however I am looking at playing with a heli hence the need for a new radio. (and yes, I have a full function sailplane it the hangar as well!)

RE: Dodge Durango for 40%???
I have a 2005 Dodge Durango as well. I went to the dealer with a 40% in my F.O.R.D. and said, "I want to buy a durango IF this will fit in! He said, "Let me help you!" I said, "No, you won't be at the field. Let me do it and you get the sale if it fits. So, yes, 40% fit in with room to spare. With all of that said with a Minivan you could get more than one plane in, but who wants to "cruse" with a Mini???

RE: Carden 40% Edge 540 build ( first time)
Instead of glassing the rudder, you could cap the top with ply. This will prevent the top from getting banged up from hangar rash and it will never break from flight loads with the ply. Rob

Wow!! $1500 what a deal! (Not kidding) I was expecting MUCH worse! I bought my 10x 10 years ago for only a few hundred less. I will stick to the 10x for a while longer (because I love the touch screen as was mentioned above) but will make the jump when my 10x can't hack it anymore . . .

RE: Real Flight G4
I have the point of view that I do not want my good transmitter to be used as my flight sim transmitter as it introduces a higher probability of the transmitter being broken. I have AFPD and use an old transmitter so not to put my 10x in harms way. I also have to worry about charging the "sim" transmitter and since it is older it is not very accurate and does not have many features that I am used to on my new transmitter and on the sim. The G4 transmitter works great and all I have to do is plug and play. If you decide that G4 is too expensive, or to bloated, feel free to check out my copy of AFPD for sale here on RCU, or email me directly. If you want I will even through in the old transmitter I use!

RE: 2 for one - Carden 40% Extra 300 Build
Might be too late, but I brought my top ring all the way back to F1 and attached it with 6-32's through F1 and blind nuts in the top ring. The ring needs to be sanded slightly to get it to fit this way anyway since it is further back. The disadvantage is I have to take the top hatch off to get the cowl off.

RE: Carden prices?
I for one am very sad that so many kit manufacturers have been driven out of business by the China ARF. I have never bought an ARF. If you are meticulous about your building you will know how poor the ARF are. (they are getting better, but will never be the same quality as something I can build.) If Carden raises their prices to stay in business I will still go to them. It is also a lot like complaining about the price of a Ferrari when you can get a Hyundai for so little. Besides, if you say you have scratch build, the last time I scratch built a 35% the cost of the wood (contest grade), gear, tubes, fiberglass, and canopy for a 35% cost me around $800. Although I did not want to insult anyone, Albert is correct. I have never had a Carden come in a 42 lbs even if build without the lightening mods. Anyone who has a Carden that heavy is just a heavy builder. They are possibly leaning to the scale side instead of the aerobatic side. . . my 404 Carden 300 is 37lbs.

RE: G4 Real Flight is great!
I have to agree with thevirginian. In fact it is one of the things I like about G4 is that it has coupling. If you want it out i would recommend flying with your regular transmitter and using the programing of the transmitter to "mix" it out. Especially since when you mix it out it is never really gone anyway. (depending on the airplane if you mix it to be pure yaw in knife edge it will have some roll or pitch in level flight and vice versa.) BTW I think I have one of the oldest computers that is running G4. It is a 2.0 G processor and I had to upgrade the video card to a 6200, but it runs great. If it didn't my back up plan was to move it to a iMac, but I am avoiding putting anything microsoft on them mac . . .
