RE: Electric Byron F-16 Build
Here is our Byron EDF that had a Hacker and now updated with the new Scorpion motor HK-4035-630, HV-110 & 10S-5300 FullyMax - this is one of many different affordable big jet conversions we have been making for over 10 years. we carry all the power system components and can also balance, assemble and test fans sent in to our shop providing a ready to run setup. Sorry, Short clip. [link=http://www.ejf.com/media/ejf-f16.wmv]Byron F-16 EDF conversion[/link] RW

That is an ideal weight for these because of the strut size. the F-15's are the heaviest at 2kg and suffer from a little too much flexing. http://www.modelaviationproducts.com/products/micro_retracts.html --RW
ORIGINAL: marktur Hi Robert, Are these comparable to the Robart 520W1 set I have on back-order at Tower? My application is for the Nitro Models Bobcat - should end up around 8 pounds, I guess. They are a few bucks more expensive than the Robarts, but I would certainly be willing to cancel the Tower order and get them from you if you think they will perform equally as well. Another

We are making laser cut mounts for the 4" to 5" fans - aimed at EDF but no reason beefing them up for ICDF wont work either. http://www.ejf.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=82_89&products_id=434 --RW

RE: Setting up fan unit for Sport Jet 70
ORIGINAL: a65l Question about balancing the fan rotor.... I used my prop balancer but still seem to have some vibration. I've heard a boat prop balancer is the better tool, do you have any tips? Thanks, Andy
The Boat prop balancer is a smaller version of something similar to the Dubro Tru-Spin Prop Balancer - the least amount of friction the better. Fans with plastic spinners are problematic to balance because many times they are not perfectly round and the higher the RPM the more noticeable it will be. it's best to balance the rotor first and do a run up. the spinner is only helpful if balance is achieved otherwise the spinner should be left off allowing the fan to run smoothly. --RW

RE: F-4 Phantom
ORIGINAL: DwightMann I recently received a package deal that included: the plane; 2- batteries, speed controllers, motors, and fans; CNC retractable landing gear; and a separate BEC. I have built and flown several gliders and nitro planes, and a little experience with electric helis. I have no experience with D/F or multi engine planes. The instructions are adequate for this level of plane (poor translation, but the intent is clear). However there remain a few questions. 1. The plane included a Deans Connector than had a “Y. Is this to connect 1 battery to both speed controllers? 2. The kit was apparently designed for bungee launch. Since there is no grass within 100 miles, I took your recommendation for the landing gear. Is there a proven method for installation. If so, please share it with me. 3. How do I install the separate BEC, and how do I disable this feature in the speed controller? 4. There are 2 red fiberglass pieces in the kit (approximately 2 x 1 x ¼, with no mention of what they are for. Do they belong with this plane? This should keep me busy for a while.
1. Depending on the motor setup this can be done. the usual way is two separate packs and using a 'Y' servo plug for the throttles. 2. e-mail sent. 3. Remove the pin or Cut the positive wire and tape it back to the cable in case you want to use it on something else later. 4. Yikes! those are tip tanks to one of the F-104's - Sorry about that. e-mail sent. Ask any question we are glad to help. --RW

RE: New - T-45 with power package
The first versions last year used 8C LiPo's and they are now 12C LiPo's - the current draw is about 18 amps so the 8C was the problem. That original pack was rated at 14.4 amps = 1800mAh * 8C, now the potential is 21.6 amps = 1800mAh * 12C Most replacements are now 15C to 20C TP, Hyperion, Duralite's and others. --RW
