Do you know if they have any higher thrust engines planned in the 200N-300N class? Rob.

Yes, I have to say that although I have no personal experience with K'tech I have not heard anything negative, no better way to start as a new manufacturer. Rob.

Vulcan was my intro into the world of nuke bombers, probably one of the best crowd pleaser displays. Unfortunately we fought a loosing battle on maintenance as the airframes were never up to the low level battering from the role change and used to joke about the need for umbrellas for the rivet showers [:D] Rob.

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video
Yes, nice to have some good intelligent opinions without anyone getting offended, though it's quite often the case that opinions ned to have a qualifying note that it is just an opinion, etc. [:D] usually accompanied by a smily to judge "mood/context" On the subject of crow/wing camber changes a lot of the latest generation full size designs use constantly optimised wing camber to give the best possible solution for any given flight scenario using many different data inputs. This is all aimed at "carefree handling", might be interesting to see the effects say of one of the latest gen 3 axis stabilisation systems on the UF. I wonder if the near miss in the video would have a different result if one of these was fitted or even just a rol axis gyro? Rob.
ORIGINAL: Walo I maidened mine last week. Unfortunately the first landing was a ''Snap Landing''. Deceleration was much faster then I expected (100 mm or 4 inches landing flap). Nothing happened but my next landings were way too fast what resulted in bumping and some damage to the nosegear. After studying the messages in this forum I will reduce the amount of flaps for my landing configuration. Regards Walter http://youtu.be/rqWCNXOwuOU
I don't think that is a snap, the airspeed is way too high. Something else is happening there. Rob.

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video
The only reason a tank will implode is because the inward vent is too restrictive, so long as the space left by the fuel can easily be replaced with vent air and the feed lines through the series tanks to the pump are big bore there will be no issues. My setup proves it, with around 100 flights now with Merlin 140, bored out felt clunks, 1/4 inch o/d Tygon, original BVM UAT. Zero cavitation and the same tiny air volume in the UAT from start to finish. Rob.

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video
ORIGINAL: timtoolman Hey How are guys plumbing the saddle tanks? I am concerned about running them parallel because I can't monitor them filling. So I am thinking of feeding them like this: UAT - Fuse tank - Saddle tank A - Saddle tank B - Overflow What's the consensus? Thanks!
That's the way I do it, (series), with 1/4 inch Tygon on everything including vent, resulting in zero fuel feed issues. I also only run my fuel bowser pump on a single cell to ensure the thin fragile saddle tanks are not under too much stress. Takes a little longer to fill though. Also be careful with the length of the two wing mounting bolts as they can damage the saddles when tightening down, I shortened mine so they are just long enough. Rob.

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video
Phil, yes, I understand what you are saying and it's on my list of things to try but I'm not sure if it's treating a symptom rather than curing the root cause? Throttle position does not seem to make the jet zoom until I am at higher speeds, it seems to be airspeed related so maybe if I could mix trim with airspeed, I'm trying to think of a way of doing this I'd prefer not to be flicking another switch in and out if it can be avoided. Maybe a gyro on pitch with an airspeed input? Thanks for the input, it's one of the good things about online forums. Rob.

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video
I will try moving my CG rearwards to see if it helps. To my mind with the elevators at neutral any tendency to dive/climb should be minimal if the CG is in a comfortable position. I'm nor sure whether mixing pitch with with throttle % would be a cure at varying air speeds? Rob.

Thanks gents, yes the only thing bugging me was the long dihedral, the wing is squeaky tight when tightening down those last few threads so I have to assume the geometry is correct. The permanent up trim though has always bothered me. I'll try the 45 up line test next time out. Rob.

RE: Jets Over Kentucky Part III (Spectacular Mid-Air Crash)
Yes, absolutely gutting that both jets were lost, it is something that fortunately only happens rarely and I would not want to upset any one with speculation even though it is human nature. Hopefully at least one thing would have been learned from the incident. Unrelated to this incident I was flying at another event where on more than one occasion I had to ask while I was actually flying whether the circuit/pattern was left or right because someone was flying the wrong circuit!
