RE: Maj. Woody's Top Flight Giant Corsair ARF
Nice job Maj. Woody. My Corsair build went just great also. watch for the November 2012 issue of MAN my review is in it. Also I have a video of my first flight on the MAN site if you care to look. I am using the DLE 55 engine also, and I have found that the Zoar 23x8 WW2 prop to be just about perfect match! Good luck with your Corsair. I too plan to remove the MOnokote and glass it in a couple seasons GY http://www.modelairplanenews.com/blog/2012/08/05/exclusive-test-flight-top-flite-giant-scale-f4u-corsair-arf-wvideo/

RE: Top Flite Giant Corsair ARF Disappeared.
I been speaking with Earl Aune for a while and he has his TW gear now as a drop in for the TF Corsair. I have one but will fly a little more before replacing the old Robart unit. it is lighter than the Robart unit so will require removing some nose weight! By the way, the Corsair flies great! Here's my first test flight: http://www.modelairplanenews.com/blog/2012/08/05/exclusive-test-flight-top-flite-giant-scale-f4u-corsair-arf-wvideo/ GY

Road to Top Gun article in MAN
Hi gang. I just wanted to let everyone know that I started the newest "Road to Top Gun" posting on the MAN site highlighting some of the great aircraft and pilots that will be at the 2012 scale competition in Lakeland, FL. We have a lot more information coming for the Top Gun event and if you can, please surf over to the MAN site and click the Road to Top Gun link. We will be updating 2 or 3 times a week for as long as we have fresh information to post. the landing page is at: modelairplanenews.com/roadTG12 Wait til you see the amazing 1/5th scale A-6E Intruder by Mike Selby or the amazing Sopwith Camel by my good buddy Mike Gross Sr. stop on by. thanks Gerry Yarrish, Sr. Technical Editor, Model Airplane News / Electric Flight

Why Speed Is Never Cheap
After the announcement earlier this week from Traxxas, we have continued to learn that Speed Is Never Cheap. But Why? Stephen Bess Of Car Action tells us why....but we would like to know, how you guys feel about that. Shouldn't these cars be getting less expensive rather then more expensive? I understand all the technology behind the car, but did they only want to sell a few hundred of these rather then thousands? Check out Stephens's article, let us know. rccaraction.com/blog/2011/12/01/speed-is-never-cheap/

RC Car Action, announced yesterday that R.C fans should be expecting big news this Wednesday. Hmm, I'm thinking Traxxas introduces a brand new line of cars.

Scale Pilot Figure Painting
Hey gang, we have another great How To article by "Best Pilots" dude Lyle Vasser. He shows how to do a fantastic job on painting pilot faces in the December 2011 issue of MAN for our Scale Special issue and as a bonus, we have his technique for painting the scale pilot helmets so they look like the real MacCoy! Please take a minute to check out the MAN website post here at: http://www.modelairplanenews.com/pilotpainting [image]http://c204131.r31.cf1.rackcdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/1-300x259.jpg[/image] Lyle really makes that leather, or cloth Navy helmet pop! RE: Cheating at RC Scale Events?
ORIGINAL: abufletcher The MAN article itself is actually quite well written and doesn't amount to rumor-mongering. In it, the author argues that the BOM rule should be updated to a ''51% rule'' to take into account changes in kit manufacturing. http://www.modelairplanenews.com/blog/2011/08/31/rc-scale-cheaters/
Thanks abufletcher. it is true this is a very sensitive issue and my intent in posting the link here was to offer up the 51% solution for discussion... I think we all agree that " ill will " does drive a lot of the infighting, and I know personally modelers who have been labled "cheaters" who did not deserve this insult. But nevertheless, have stopped competiting because of it. Love to hear others comments on the topic as spelled out in the original article. thanks GY

Cheating at RC Scale Events?
Each year at about this time, we start hearing more gossip than you'd believe possible. Maybe it has to do with the nearing end of the flying season, though there are still many good weeks left for serious scale flyers. The latest topic involves modelers apparently cheating at scale RC events, such as the AMA Nationals, Top Gun and at the U.S. Scale Masters, specifically when it comes to the builder-of-the-model (BOM) rule. Really? Competitors cheating during scale competitions? I'd like to go on record and say I seriously doubt that any committed RC scale modeler would knowingly cheat in competition. Perhaps our definitions of cheating and interpretations of rules may have become confused. To see the whole story see here: http://www.modelairplanenews.com/blog/2011/08/31/rc-scale-ch eaters/ GY

Red Tails WW2 Aviation Movie
Hey all. if you are a Mustang lover or a B-17 freak, or just love WW2 aviation, there is a new movie coming out called "Red Tails". It is a Lucas Film release due out January 20, 2012 which tells the story about the Tuskegee Airmen, the first African-American pilots to fly in a combat squadron during World War II. I love this story in general and in particular I've built a couple red-tail mustangs in years past. I was interested in finding out more about this new movie and I have posted video clips and related pre-production photos I found online and have them here: http://www.modelairplanenews.com/blog/2011/08/08/red-tails-new-lucas-movie/ Please check it out and comment if you would.
