RE: Should positions on US World Champ Teams be filled by US Citizens
In reply to dandk2261999, post 119. The information you received is incorrect. I am Army retired and my wife and I (both US citizens) had a child born in Japan. Several years later when stationed at Fort Huachuca, AZ (yes, the same place you are stationed) we were very surprised to learn that we could not prove our son was a US citizen because we were given a certificate of birth NOT a birth certificate at the time of his birth. After checking with JAG, we discovered that we had to complete several forms, travel to Phoenix and mother father and son had to appear before a federal judge, swear that he was our son and answer several questions, send all approved paperwork to Washington, DC to the state department and wait for about 3 months. We received a large document from the state department, with a red seal, stating that our son was a US citizen but that we would need this document to prove it should he seek certain jobs. It still gripes my --- that we as US citizens had to do go through all of that, yet illegals who have children here are automatic US citizens.

RE: Looking for Higley's "Bipes" book...
I have owned both the Moki 180 and the OS 160. My experience is that the 160 is by far the better engine and as strong or stronger then the Moki. The 160 can be run out of the box and the Moki takes at least 1 gallon of fuel on the bench to get it to run. It does not like hi nitro where the OS will run very strong on up to 15%. The engine clinic man for RCM wrote a review a couple years back on the 160 and compared the two. I think he said the the 160 was as strong.

RE: Radio Impound
I know of a club of 250-300 and they have no impound. They do have a pin on the transmitter when using the channel. So impound is not required and may not be wanted by some large clubs.

RE: hovering&flying over runway?
All rules should be followed by ALL persons, at all times when using the field. If one violates the club rules, that person also violates AMA rules. Should an accident occur while a deliberate violation is occurring, look out.

The only other ARF that is close to World Models is Great Planes. After putting together several of each, W.M. is #1 in my opinion.

RE: Joining The Army..............
As an army retiree, I too want to say thank you. Here are a couple tips. Try and get in good shape before you raise your hand, you will still have a hard time in basic but not as bad and you will be sore. NEVER volunteer for anything. Get as much education as possible. A misconception today is, not much education is required to join or advance thorough the ranks, when just the opposite is true. Learn to eat fast, unless the rules have changed, it is necessary. Don't volunteer information unless asked. D.I.'s love show off's. Good luck and god speed. Vietnam Vet 25 medals BTW I earned all of mine unlike someone we know.

RE: KMP 337 Skymaster In The House!!!
The dry weight was something close to 14 pounds but don't remember the exact weight. I no longer have the plane. I am sorry but I also do not recall how much weight was required. It is a very good looking plane but it did have some issues. Hope the new version has them worked out.

RE: Should Pilot # 2 replace Pilot # 1's Airplane?
Our club field rules state that any mid-air accident is a no fault incident. Mid airs happen all the time so pick up the pieces and go on. I voted no.

RE: OS 160 FX Propeller
Try either the 16X10 or 17X8. Both are good and should give you about 9000-9500 RPM. BTW the OS 160 is a great engine but it must be run on the rich side and MUST have LARGE fuel lines throughout to include the tank and all fittings.

RE: Great Planes 1/4 scale Gene Soucy Extra 300S
I have to add a comment here. I have owned 5 of the OS 160FX engines. I have never crimped or pluged any of the 5 Bisson mufflers I used. The only problem I had was with the first one, it was the first in the club, until I found out you must use LARGE fuel tubing, larger brass tubing and large fuel line from the needle valve to the carb. ALL tubing MUST be large, including the clunk, and this engine runs like a bandit. Probably the best engine OS has come out with in the past 10 years. No need for fuel pumps or any fancy gimmicks. I started the first one on 5% fuel but learned that 15% worked much better. I use Morgans syn, caster blend 15% with no problem.

I have run 3 OS-160's on a three blade prop and have found the 16-8 to be the best size, otherwise I use a 16-10, 2 blade.
