Many thanks for your advice.That Eflite looks really good! Reading the reviews that have been posted it seems it will be very popular.

RE: Venom Ozone
[/youtubehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xFCbwHNu7s8 I got this for 33 Euro with postage.I had been practicing with a Silverlit Atlas so had a basic "feel" for the control. This is 27 Mhz not available in any other frequency.Its pranged a few times but no serious damage. Just trying to decide what to get next. I appreciate there is a big jump from these simple helicopters to the likes of the 450's, but for someone wanting to try the hobby without "breaking the bank" these have been a lot of fun.

Venom Ozone
Why is the Venom Ozone so much more expensive than the 3 channel metal frame R/C helicopter from Hong Kong? I know its RC but so are a number of Chinese clones. If some one has made a comparison it would be useful to hear.

3 ch metal frame IR helicopter blade change.
Has anyone tried to change the main rotor on one of these?Spare blades are supplied, but after removing the screws from the swashplate it would not come out easily.I'm reluctant to "prise" the gap open more to release the old blade. On another 1 like this the balance bar broke.I ordered the replacement main blade which comes with the whole 2 cog wheel assembly.Instead of stripping everything down to change I removed the top blade and balance bar> But this was a lot harder than anticipated.It worked finally but with more play on the inner shaft than normal.I didn't realize there was a "splined" shaft inside and the blade has to be lifted or prised off straight.When I contacted the Hong Kong company I purchased this from they said send it back and they will fix it.Well they did.And only cost $4 postage.But I'm none the wiser how to do it myself. [/youtubehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXWw_fKT3m0

3 ch metal frame {V-Max}
I've got 1 of these and it is a good little flyer.But mine is much easier to fly backwards than forwards.It is faster in reverse and has more positive control.I have tried adjusting the pitch of the horizontal tail rotor but it gets to a point when increasing the pitch, that thrust reduces. Any ideas for "tweaking"?

RE: 2009 Jet World Masters Web Site
I moved to Eilat from southern England in 1987.Have not been actively involved in aeromodeling since my school days in the UK but find the developments in the hobby amazing. Have been trying out small rc submarines and indoor helicopters, both examples of technology not available in the late 60's. I found the site for the JWM and will visit in June.

RE: graupner u -16
I've tried a number of materials to get the trim right.Finally settled for a piece of "fishing-float".Gave it a light coat of paint to seal it and it worked fine.However, next time I tried it, again the nose was inclined downward.So in frustration I attatched a piece of "blue tack" to the tail.Perfect!I got the blue tack idea from the folks trimming the Picoo z helicopter.A friend at work returned from a holiday in Cuba and bought 2 Picoo's for his children.They kept spinning and he couldn't trim it.I read the various tips and found in transit some thing had depressed the rotor blade, cancelling the pitch.Twisted the blade back to normal and they flew well.He like me, had not looked in a toy shop here in Israel for some time.The shops have them here cheaper than Cuba.But not cheaper than ebay via Hong Kong including shipping.I'm trying to convince my son he should have a helicopter for his birthday. The U16 is an amazing "bit of kit" to use the UK popular terminology.The larger fish in my aquarium really seem to enjoy "playing" tag with it.When I remove it, they come up to the glass to see where it has gone.

RE: graupner u -16
In an attempt to trim the sub for horizontal, I've now attatched a "sliver" of chop-stick wood to forward lower hull.The wood is quite hard so does not saturate with water.While experimenting with dense foam rubber, I lightly sanded the lower hull and it becomes opaque.In total darkness you can see the red light thru the bottom.I've managed to almost match the paint for re-touching, but this is a house hold gloss.I think maybe a plastic enamel would be better.Does the paint have neutral bouancy in water? Could be useful to know if contemplating a colour change. Kind of addictive aren't they.

RE: graupner u -16
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bPok56Rhu30 & http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GR4D29kzy4Q The trimming for horizontal attidude in the water was hit-and -miss.The sticky tape supplied wasn't suitable so I superglued some dense foam rubber in place. The lateral steering is by a rotating paddle.It looks like a small plastic cogwheel that has ducted inlet and outlet.A bit like a water jet.That's why it can be made to "spiral". Al in all, a very clever little model.I have a glass linking tunnel aquarium I want to try it in. Laurie

RE: graupner u -16
Trumpeter Emdem is the O.E.M. [original equipment manufacturer] for the Graupner U16.The finish light admiralty grey upper and red lower is not as good as the original, but mechanically it is supposed to be the same.And it is much cheaper so I suppose a custom paint job should not upset the trim too much. Has anyone done a review/comparison on some of these mini submarines? And why is it the old 27mhz had hardly any water penetration and this system has, well. I don't know what depth limit.My understanding was that only E.L.F. was suitable for full size submarine radio comunications. I have not been active in the hobby since the 27 mega cycle band was given to the citizen band radio addicts, and the modellers were advised to switch to 455Mhz.The reason given was that unprecedented sunspot activity was likely to cause serious problems for the next few years.I think this was about 1980. Or was that just the excuse in the UK to get more revenue from CB users?
