RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat
I just bought my 2nd NIB OS 120 SP. It’s the best 4cycle I have ever owned . If I get tired of the electric set up on my t-cat I might do an electric to glow conversion!

RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat
2 E-flite power 160's 2 castle creation HV 85’s (with extra capacitors) 2 10s 5000mah (2-5s 2-3s 1-4s packs for proper balance) Thunder power 45c packs(8C charge rate) 4 FMA Power lab 8's (1344 watts 26v input) all charged in under 10 minutes! PROBLEM SOLVED! LINK TO BATTERY http://thunderpowerrc.com/G6ProPerformance45CSeriesLiPoBatteries.htm LINK TO CHARGER http://www.revolectrix.com/pl Where do you put the batteries in the nacelles and how is the CG. What if you lose one battery pack? (I have had 2 different problems that I believe would have caused a 1 engine out scenario if both packs would have been separate)

RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat
We have had some issues with off brand big out runners. I was test flying a 1/3 scale cub for someone and kept losing power I landed and started walking out to get the cub off the runway and was asked why don’t you taxi back I said you’ll see the prop was sized after 2 inexpensive motors went bad he ended up with a AXI 5345. I would stick with a brand AXI, E-FLITE, HACKER, RIM FIRE the last thing you want on a twin is the bell to come loose and jam. The same thing with speed controllers why take a chance? A Tigercat is not a simple model try to keep it as simple as possible.

RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat
The set up for the batteries is 10 s 2 p I have 2 5 cell packs 5+5=10(one set). And 2 3 cell and one 4 cell packs 3+3+4=10 cells(the other set) the hard part about this setup is how to connect the packs together in the confined space with keeping it as simple as possible. I have made some mistakes along the way and am happy with the configuration that I have now. Charging is a hole other issue! But I can now charge all 5 packs in under 15 minutes. If you count the 2 1350 mah packs for the rx I guess that's 7 packs in 15 min. My son and I will have 7 planes this season that will take a 10s 5000mah pack. And 2 of those will take 2 10s packs(the tigercat and a Stinson 108)

RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat
Mounting the ESC's in the fuse goes against the general train of thought but if it works who can argue (unless it stops working). I know that CC recommends putting the speed controller as close to the motor as possible. also if you run the motors counter rotating remember the prop nut will have to locked somehow or a reverse thread on the shaft and nut. I was considering it but could not find the right props. The tigercat flies great and I don’t think I would bother at this point changing it

RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat
Most likely if you were to put the batteries in the nacelle you would end up tail heavy. My setup is two E-flite power 160s, CC hv85 capacitors added by speed controller in the nacelles and 10s 2p thunder power 5000mah propower 30c batteries 17 cells right under the front of the canopy and one 3 cell pack behind the leading edge of the wing. I also have the sierra gear and it is well worth the money. I am interested in the electric conversion for the nose gear because I have had an issue with it not locking down with the scale door on the gear this set up is plenty of power and all up weight is 32 lbs.

RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat
I have power 160's in it and it is over 4 hp each with 20x11 props on it. It dose like fast but I am only full power some of the time. I could not find a hp rating on Saito 125's but a OS 120s not pumped is 1.9 hp and a OS 120sp supercharged is 2.5 hp I have run both and run them extensively and I have 3 Saito 125's they all are great motors the 125 is lighter and I believe falls between the 2 OS engines. I still think the 162mph is not correct but not sure about the 130mph I will have to find a radar gun and check it someday.

RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat
Has anyone had their F7F clocked on radar I have readings from an onboard GPS but don't think they are correct 162mph this year at the Net Fair and 130 at an event last year. I don't think the 162mph correct, and am not sure about the 130mph.

RE: OS FF-320 pegasus
Just received a Stinson 108 from hobby lobby for my ff-320 red and cream this is going to be a glow and electric plane. I plan on having a removable motor box and cowl to change from glow to electric. I would just do the ff-320 setup but we are going to more And more electric meets and I believe this Stinson should be great in both setups. I have a question about tank position for the 320 I always like to have the tank on center line of the carb and the center of the tank but it looks like This might not work on this setup any coments would be appreciated.

RE: Quique's 72
I have had mine for 5 years. I started flying it with an OS 120 sp supercharged engine(2.5HP). then a couple of years ago put a 4.3 HP E setup in it and I never had any flutter good horns linkages and good servos are the best answer. the only thing that makes me sad about this plane is no more parts :(

RE: Quique's 72
The cg is wrong in the manual there was an addendum that moved the cg 1 cm forward The manual says "387 mm (15-1/4") from the back of the canopy with the airplane ready to fly and put together less canopy hatch and fuel" I am looking for a canopy for mine blew off in a knife edge loop if any one has one?

RE: OS FF-320 pegasus
I have a friend of mine that was running a OS 300 twin on a Pitts with a prop that he said "was the best prop for the 300" I tried it was a absolute pig. I cannot remember what it was for sure but I think it might have been a zinger 22X6X10. I would think that the biggest difference between the two would be the weight and the 320 might like a slightly bigger prop. I will do some testing this summer and try to remember to post the results.

RE: OS FF-320 pegasus
I run a 20X8 Mejzlik on a OS 300 twin and get very good performance out of a 86" QQ yak 54 at 16.5lbs (will pull out of a hover) I am not sure how different the torque band is on the 300 compared to the 320. I will find out this year for myself! Do you know the RPM with the 20X8 on the 320?

Just picked up a NIB 72 what a find never even been unwrapped. It will get the same setup that is in the one I have now. E-Flite 160 Castle HV85 and Thunder power 5000 10s and a 20x10 apc E prop. Over 4 HP 3000 watts! IMO Glow is dead.

If you use expo and drop the servo speed on the elivator, ruder, and alerons the dance goes away I had that issue on mine. All the servos were just too fast to look smooth in the air.

RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat
Here is a little update on my Tigercat. I am on flight number 19 and had a little issue on flight 18. I was at the AMA district II fly at the Olean airport in Olean NY I had 2 successful flights with a stiff cross wind on Saturday and in the Sunday in the noon time show we think I caught a rut in the runway and ground looped it. There was only minor damage to the fuselage and it ripped out one of the main gear. It could have been much worse. After a trip to the EAA air show in Oshkosh Wisconsin we attended the Flying knights scale rally in Hamburg NY and had a successful flight with it on Saturday. Also this month I have been fortunate to have the Tigercat featured in Greg Covey's AMPED Colum on RC Universe with a very nice article and video. It can be reached with this link. http://www.rcuniverse.com/magazine/article_display.cfm?article_id=1140

RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat
I finally flew my T-Cat and am very happy with the way it flies. I just have to work on the landings! This was my 6th flight on it in two days and flight number 9 on the plane. I did have to make small adjustments after the first 3 flights the sensitivity of the elevator; ailerons and rudder made the T-Cat look unstable in the air and difficult to land. A little more expo and slowing the servo speed down on the JR-X9303 and it flies great! This is a link to a video of flight #9. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uz3OdlHreeo&feature=channel_page
