RE: Jetero Pattern Shootout - June 4/5
Thanks for all the kind words for the club. We have a great bunch of pattern flyers in the Texas / Louisiana / Arkansas (yes even Mike Harrison from Arkansas you are one of the good ones !!!!) I got to meet a lot of new people. We had 31 contestants which was down a little from previous years .... seemed to be the effects of high gas prices and limited budgets with the economy.

Jetero Pattern Shootout - June 4/5
Jetero RC club is hosting the Jetero Pattern Shootout on June 4/5 at our field on the northeast side of Houston Texas. This will be our 8th year and we intend to put on a first class event. We have been grateful to have several new pattern flyers and also more seasoned pilots including USA world team flyers at our event and this is a great opportunity to get a final tune up for the World F3A Championships and US Nationals in just a few weeks. Our field has outstanding facilities with an 800 foot grass runway with no obstructions. We have running water, flushing toilets, electricity, a brand new air conditioned club house and a very large covered pit area over concrete. The field will be open for practice on Friday PM on June 3. This is a hard working club and we welcome our guests in in the Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and surrounding states to join us for a great weekend of flying. Don't miss the event !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ron Barr - Contest Director

RE: De Ja Vu
Oh yea.... I forgot to mention that Dick borrowed one of MY airplanes few months back and took it on "no ailerons" plugged in flight..... (unfortunately I wasn't there to witness this spectacle) ... with a not so happy ending.. I am sure in some way Todd and Dick will conclude that I am to blame for that too.... De Ja Vu Ron Barr

I take the blame for a lot of things. As far as the Blose and Mundee...... I would not pay to much attention to either..... both are experts at flying pattern planes for very short distances without the ailerons plugged in... ... for these two it really is De Ja Vu..... look!!! my plane crashed just like yours !!! RE: 2010 US Nats... share YOUR story
It is good to hear about all of the excitement about this years Nats. My story about this year's Nats starts and ends on June 2 when I damaged both eyes in a fueling accident with my new PassPort. As previously reported on RCU I inadvertently fueled my plane without removing the tank vent plug and ended up with a full stream of 20% nitro in both eyes which resulted in a trip to the emergency room and a 6 week recovery time to regrow a cornea on my left eye. My vision in both eyes is recovering and I have just restarted flying but cannot see well enough to compete. The accident was clearly preventable. It was also very serious. I wish all the US Nationals fliers great luck and weather, but most importantly a safe Nationals !!!! I would encourage all glow fuel fliers to use protective eyewear when fueling their airplanes. My inadvertent lack of glasses nearly cost my my eyesight. I will see you next year and show off my gorgeous CA Models Passport 2010 (Chip this is a fantastic flying airplane !!) BE SAFE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ron Barr TEAM FUTABA TEAM OS OS 200 S-FI engines TEAM COOLPOWER

RE: Passport 2010 Glo Version
I finished the airframe over the weekend. Motor mount is Hyde LR-85. OS200S-FI engine with Hatori pipe and Header for OS. Futaba 14Mz FASST radio. I made 5 flights on Sunday. Flight 1 was a trimming exercise.... no need to mix during initial flight. Flights 2-5 were flying the FAI Prelim and Finals patterns. Flight characteristics are excellent... neutral on all axis... stable .... definitely the one of best airplane I have flown. Easier to fly than my Aries. Quality of the airframe is outstanding. Wings came in at 15.1 oz ready to fly with Futaba 9150 servos and the SFGs. Thanks to Marcelo and CA models for an outstanding model... Thanks to Chip for convincing me to go for a Ready-to-Fly airplane.... I could not have built as good an airplane. Ron Barr

RE: Passport 2010 Glo Version
More Photos.... The Horizontal stab has anhedral. I chose the normal rudder (no split rudder option). Also provided are aluminum control horns for all the surfaces. The following are the weights of the parts. L wing panel /aileron 357 gr 12.6 oz R. Wing Pane / aileron 354 gr 12.5 oz L stab 93 gr 3.3 oz R Stab 86.7 gr 3.1 oz Rudder 77.9 gr 2.75 oz Fuselage (no cowl, canopy) 981 gr 34.6 oz including all the reinforcements, bottom floor, carbon fibre front end Cowl 95 gr 3.3 oz Canopy 124 gr 4.3 oz CF landing gear (Both) 124 gr 4.3 oz wheel pants (both) 19 gr 0.7 oz Wing tube 58.3 gr 1.99 oz Stab tube 9.5 gr 0.3 oz Wheels (2) 14.4 gr 0.51 oz Side force generators at wing tips (both) 27 gr 0.95 oz The wings and stabs are very very light. I will definitely used the SFGs on the wings. CA provided a very light weight fiberglass balsa faced firewall that I chose to replace with Fiberglass faced lite ply. Since I am running the OS200S-FI engine I needed the strength compared to the normal electric firewall design. Overall it is coming together quickly and I have found no issues. The fit and finish are flawless. No projected final weight but I think it is going to be light.

RE: Passport 2010 Glo Version
Attached pictures showing the paint scheme, wing covering and some assembly. The paint is truly amazing. It has a flawless mirror finish that has obviously been polished to perfection,.. The canopy is mounted and the chin cowl is also mounted at the factory. The wing tube, stab tube, landing gear and are all carbon fiber. Wing adjusters are provided and all the holes are drilled. I have fire wall mounted, the Hyde LR-85 engine mount in place and the nose ring installed. I have the Futaba 9650 servos in both stabs and Futaba 9150 in both wings. My OS200S-FI engine is ready for installation with Hatori header and pipe provided by OS. Overall the quality of the kit is first class in every way.

The following photos show the airplane after it was unpacked from the wooden shipping crate. Everything arrived safely with no damages or scratches due to careful packing and a study box.. The model had a complete padded cover with gorgeous embroidery on the fuselage and both wing panels.

RE: Passport 2010
Chip and Marcelo, Thanks for all the hard work and effort on the new PassPort 2010 and the special paint design on my airplane. The modeling community needs to know that Chip and the CA team under Marcelo's direction have raised the bar on high quality aircraft and making sure the customer gets a top quality product in a timely manner. The composite balsa sandwich fuselage with Carbon fiber reinforced front end and the light weight wings/stabs are state of the art. I will be running the OS200S-FI engines in the airplane and I chose this airframe specifically to handle the loads and vibration of the big supercharged 4 stroke. This PassPort is my third CA models aircraft and I have been very satisfied with the the end product on every one. Chip and Marcelo have been great to work with and have met every milestone in the process of building the aircraft. The pictures speak for themselves this is a first class airplane and I really like the new paint scheme. Thanks Chip and Marcelo. I look forward to getting the aircraft next week.[;)] Ron Barr, Team Futaba, OS Engines

RE: OS 200 hatori header
Jon, The OS200 FS and SP (pumped) engines have a deeper exhaust port to work with the OS silencer than the OS200S-FI. For the FS and pumped engines you need to use multiple copper gaskets or ~ a 1/8 - 3/16 in thick spacer the same size as the copper gaskets to get the appropriate fit when using the Hatori header. I have the pumped and FI engines and the header will work with both with the appropriate spacer / copper gaskets. The FI engine requires only one copper spacer. Ron Barr

RE: Chip Hyde Genesis F3A + Hacker C50x13XL
Dave, I agree with Todd. I have a Genesis that I built with the 13 wind motor. It performs very well.... I flew it in the Nats in FAI last year and some this year. Put on an APC 20x13 prop and there is power and speed to spare. I have a glow version as well !! I have decided to fly OS glow next year and my electric is up for sale now (too many airplanes!!?).... not because I don't like it however. My color scheme is close to the factory scheme. I can make you a deal on a very good airplane with new batteries if interested. I also have 2 Comp ARF Integrals with OS200S-FI in them. I would judge the Genesis is a little easier to fly and feels lighter, and has a little less mix. The Comp ARF Integral has a more solid airframe (fiberglass / balsa sandwich on the fuse) , but is a little heavier as well -- mainly in the composite wings. Ron Barr Team Futaba
