RE: Newest palm sized contra heli from Walkera
Thank you Whistler for the fast response. I have 2 batteries and 2 chargers so it is not them. I wouldn't think that right out of the box you would have to worry about stuff like this. Do you lube the center shaft? what else. If it is mechanical, its hard to believe that both helis have the same issue. [8|] Hey, how's this... the energy in the battery is going somewhere. In the first heli it was going into excess heat in the motors and burning them up. In the second one, let's say it's mechanical. If I take the electronics out of the second one and put them in the first one, maybe I will bypass both problems and be O.K. I will try that first.

RE: Newest palm sized contra heli from Walkera
hello all, I have 2 5g6 helis. The first one was burning motors after 3 flights. X-heli let me return the mixer and motors and then just went ahead and sent a new complete heli set. So now I have an extra heli with no motors and mixer... are you still with me?[:D] The new heli flys fantastic and does not burn motors but both helis got (and get) terrible flight times. About 3 minutes continuous if that. I have crashed this one rather spectacularly[:)] so I am going to take it apart and see if there is a bent inner shaft or something but that does not explain the bad times in the first one. I am flying at near 7000 ft. and some people think it is the thinner air. But my dynam vortex (14" coaxial) seems to fly out its time just fine and the airplanes don't seem any different either. Just this little guy.[sm=confused.gif] Any ideas would be appreaciated.

RE: Badius Owners Club III
Thanks guys for the response and the info. Boy, This is a fast thread! I'm 5 pages behind when I check in. I have too many jobs... And then if I want to fly a little... it does not leave much time to talk about it. I should be a able to get back to work on my badius this weekend, flying on sunday, I hope. The weather has been fantastic around here! Breakaway wings, fix the antenna and I'm off! I will let you all know how it goes. I am looking at a Pitts for the next buy. Usally when somthing makes my spine tingle like that the first time I see it... it isn't long before it's in the house[:D] I am flying one in the sim. I will no doubt send the real one into the ground like a meteor in 30 secs. Ah, the joy of flight...[:)] Thanks

RE: Badius Owners Club III
Hello folks, sorry for the slow response. AJ- your porbobly right and the altitude won't make a difference, but along those lines, if I wanted to change the prop pitch or length, how would I do that (I'm a little dumb). What do the terms (8x12 or whatever) mean in prop specs and how do I stay compatible with the Badius. The plane has the stock motor still in it, but I am eyeing a brushless. evrerything else is from the century. Loubud- The Century is a fixed pitch and I have never been able to fly it. It is goofy and I don't know why. All my other helis are coaxials. Amoung them is an 8" walkera 5G6. Really little!! Now there's a couch potato's dream[:D] One more important question. The antenna on the Century receiver got chopped off short somehow. I am afraid it will not have range. I can just add wire to it, can't I. I have heared somewhere that this is not a good idea, but I can't see why not. Thanks a bunch

RE: Badius Owners Club III
Hello folks, I am currently fixing up my badius to give airplanes another try. I have been obsessed by helicopters for a couple of years, but the badius was the first rc I bought before I started with helis. I never liked the weird TX setup and only flew it twice. But now that I am a bit smarter[8D] I have taken the guts out of a century helicopter and now the badius is up on one of my heli transmitters, working great. I don't want to fly it again until I do as much setting up as I can. After I do a breakaway wing mod I should be good to go. BUT.... I am flying at 7000 feet. Any advice for high altitude would be appreciated. tHANKS A BUNCH

RE: Does anybody fly Accipiter Badius in here?
It's working terrific right now... But for how long? I am using the entire system from the heli... Battery included. Both plane and heli use 8.4V 600mah. The chances I will be ok is pretty good. The best part is that when I tried it for the first time, I realized that the transmitter pots were dirty and made the servos "stutter" like crazy. It took 5 min. of fooling with them to get them to smooth out. I could never get the century heli to fly and I never figuered out why. Now I know. I will look for a new flight pack for the badius and when I get my heli stuff back from it, I'll bet thet Century will work! YEA! In the meantime I'm almost ready to FLY THE BADIUS!!! Still have to do the breakaway wing mod... what fun!http://image2-0.rcuniverse.com/e1/forum/micons/m9.gif

RE: Does anybody fly Accipiter Badius in here?
I've just about got it. Just 1 question. I took the electronics out of a century hummingbird heli and dropped them into the badius. I had to hard wire the motor in because it was hard wired to the original SC. The fact that the motor was hard wired worries me a little. Should I worry that the GWS speed controller (in the mixer) will not be compatible with the badius motor? A stupid question maybe, but this mixing and matching components is new territory for me. Other than that it seems to be working fine. I'm really happy :)

RE: Does anybody fly Accipiter Badius in here?
That sounds like a good solution if it works. I found my badius tx - I am going to see if I can drop it into a 2 stick tx body... bet i can! thanks

RE: Does anybody fly Accipiter Badius in here?
unfortunatly all 3 of my helis with removable crystals are 72 mhz. I do have a 3 channel 27mhz heli that does not have a removable crystal, but I could get one. However, that heli only uses motors, not servos, so i assume that one will not work. I have been looking on the net and finding a 27mhz w/crystal is so for impossible! I am looking for the badius tx (Ican't find it) When i do, can't i just move the guts to another tx with the right set up and solder it in? Seems like i should be able to do that. Thanks a bunch for the response

RE: Does anybody fly Accipiter Badius in here?
Hello folks, The badius was my first RC purchase 2 years ago. I only flew it a little bit as I was disappointed in the goofy transmitter set up. I became obsessed with helicopters soon after that and they... well... are fantastic. But. recently I have been wanting to get back to airplanes. I fixed up the badius last night (except for some of the mods I have learned in this thread, which i will start tonight), but I would like to change out the transmitter so I can get back to a throttle left, everything else right configuration. My badius is 27mhz. Can I use a 72mhz tx & crystal? , can i use my helicopter gear? or what should I buy that I know will work? or could smeone point me to the place in this gigantic thread that already explains this. I have flat wings... I don't know if that's good or bad thanks a bunch

RE: Can I use a Blade CX aluminum rotor head on a Dynam Vortex?
Really suprising that no one seems to know the answer to this. I bought a plastic one to test it. The diameter looks the same but the way the guides work is different. I think I can make it work. I will post the results if anyone is interested.

Can I use a Blade CX aluminum rotor head on a Dynam Vortex?
The Rotorhead on my Vortex started to slip. Being inexperienced, I stripped out the treads on the plastic head. I got another one and replaced it and everything was fine but now it is slipping again and I am afraid I will strip it out again. If I knew of an aluminum replacement, I would just do that. Is there one? Or, any suggestions on how to use the plastic one correctly.. so it doesn't slip? Thanks

RE: Tail rotation on a Dynam Vortex
thanks for the response. I am indeed having a rotor head problem. I now know that the feeling in the tail was the pre-curser to my lower rotor head starting to slip. This has led to a problem that I have started a new thread on. thanks

Tail rotation on a Dynam Vortex
Hello, Is there a way to get the tail nailed down on a coaxial type 4 channel. No matter what I do (mixer/trim combinations) I am always flying the tail a little bit. The rotation feels "jumpy" I wish it were a bit smoother. Is that the transmitter (stock Dynam 4 channel) or is there some magic I can run on the heli to get it to turn smoother. Or maybe just a more expensive heli.

RE: How do I remove rotor assembly on blade cx
Thanks for the response - but I'm still a little confused. I can see thet the lower rotor head will slide off if I get the top rotor head out of the way. I guess my question should have been: What is the normal process of replacing the lower rotor head? If the center shaft comes with the head attached, then the shaft must detach at the bottom somehow and slide out. I will look at that tonight. Let me know if I've got it all wrong. thanks
