RE: Australian Barbeque and Beers Part V
TMC .. Exactly the same here mate .. finally found the reason was the cog (from a forum somewhere) .. they do glide if you have some more wieght up back [:D]

RE: Australian Barbeque and Beers Part V
Bert, Major problem with it is it doesn't glide if the cog is not right. It dives at the ground and inverts when you take the power off. I smashed mine about 5 times before ai learnt to land it hot. It really needs weight added to the tail. A mate has 2 20 cent coins glued to each of the tail spars [:D] I got sick of it after my new one rolled and crashed on maiden@@ [:@] Funjet is sort of the same plane ... and SOOOOOOOO much better !! Good luck with it mate. Rowdy

RE: Australian Barbeque and Beers Part V
ORIGINAL: tmc_2 I must admit its one of those impossible scenarios you would normally laugh about!! i guess i am just lucky it was my car and it only smashed the window, no panel damage. Last time i trust and manufactures 'recomended servos'
Holy carp batman!! TMC .. so sorry to hear about your disaster. I can only hope that something like that doesn't happen to us at PP. We have had so many accidents of late .. that i'm sure it's only a matter of time before someone or somecar gets damaged. At least the boys have put in a Frequency Board on the big tree ... after 2 clash crashes in as many weeks. (And one only 20 feet from the people) All the best mate ... Mong the Camera arrived ... nicely boxed ... can't wait to give it a blast on the Funjet this w/e [:D] Bud .. no probs mate .. don't be scared off with my comment about my Gem ... It is still a great plane .. I love it ... I think my setup needs a little tuning ! [:)] Cheers Rowdy

RE: Australian Barbeque and Beers Part V
Andrew, I am surprised at your comments on hand launching. My Funjet is so great out of the hand .. just give it a good toss ... almost any direction .. even nearly straight up!! Maybe the power/prop setup has more of an effect than we realise ? I am running a really small prop 5.0 x 5.0 on a 3000 kv motor on 3S .. My plane pulls easily 120 kph (Thats a guestimate .. I haven't radared it .. but it is nealy as quick as the 262 at WOT and it pulls over 160) I find the Gem much more taxing to fly .. I always have to be on the ball with the Gemini .. unlike the Funjet ... Don't get me wrong .. It flys well .. It just needs to be FLOWN more than the Funjet . Back off the throttle with the Funjet and it will fly like a glider .. back off the Gemini and it will sink pretty quickly. Gota say .. the Funjet is probably my fav plane .. Long flight times on a 2500 Rhino 3S ... screamingly quick or a glider ... and flys in any weather!! (And cheap!!) All good though ... that's what makes this hobby so much fun!! [:D] OHHHHH hang on .. My first launch was bad .. I had the thrust angle wrong. One of the FUnjet experts at PP looked it over and adjusted it for me. Nooo problem ever since! My first lanch went straight into the ground!! Worth checking if yours isn't launching well. [:D]

RE: Australian Barbeque and Beers Part V
Andrew, Don't be afraid to fly the Funjet in the wind mate! It eats it! I fly it in almost any conditions now .. the only problem I find is, when it's really strong, it is a little hard to heep it's nose into the wind .. But when you turn downwind ... WOW [:D][:D][:D] Yeeeehaaaaaaa!! What setup do you have on yours ?? Cheers Rowdy Having said that ... I mean ALMOST any conditions ... [:)] Wind at the moment is gusting to horrendous levels ... Not even the Funjet would be leaving the house in this!!!

Very True Andrew. Half the reason for visiting the LHS is for a browse and a friendly chat! Those owners who don't recognise that shouldn't be in the hobby.

RE: Australian Barbeque and Beers Part V
Thanks for the vid Clovus .. she looks impressive in the air ... she seemed to be porposing ?? Spose you fixed that ?? COG a little too far back ?? Nice choice of sounds to mate ... very cool [&:] Had an awesome time of it today. Down at PP (Police Paddocks) with the lads .. my flying in wind phobia is most certainly gone .. Geez ... windyer than the infamous baked beans scene in Blazing Saddles!! Still ... flew all 5 aircraft I took down there .. 262 Funjet Hellcat EZ and the good ol Supercub. All came home in one piece .. a good day ... (5 hours worth [X(] ) Only one loss today .. a bloke lost an edge on maiden ... an elevator parted company with the rest of the plane .. on maiden ..Way worse yesterday ... one of the guys lost a Fly Fly Mig 29 (couple of flights old) when a vertical stab snapped off .. causing a full roll into the ground .. nothing bigger that a 20c piece left I hear [:@] .. then his glider broke something . and plummetted into the trees!! They found it this morning on the 3rd search. Not much left. Slight drama with my Funjet was the only prob for me today .. one of the aileron horns came half loose .. poor control .. so landed it ... lucky it didn't separate entirely ..[8D] 262 was awesome ... so cool !!! I love than plane .. (But only for 3 minutes ... hmmmm lot like other things ...[:)] ) Cheers blokes .. will now catch up with the rest of the posts Rowdy PS ... This site really does suck .. nearly lost the whole post .. when "Session timed out " message appeared when I hit send!!! We really should move ...

RE: Australian Barbeque and Beers Part V
Well it WAS going to be for the HK Spit I have in the HC cart .. but just did a calculation on the "REAL" dollars it was going to cost me. An 89.00 US plane and 41.00 esc equate to 280.00 + Aussie dollars delivered [X(] No thanks .. by the time I add a motor, servo's and Rx i'll have parted with another 450.00 + I think I'll stay with the fleet I have for the time being .. RE: Australian Barbeque and Beers Part V
TMC, We have some guys Funjets glassed, but most aren't .. They land like a trainer ..so no need really .. whatever you want. Mine isn't .. if you smash it .. just buy another .. 90 bucks ...who cares!! [:)] Didn't clock mine .. reckon it pulled around the 160 - 170 kph mark ..running a 3W typhoon . quick enough for me ... on 3S The quick one we clocked was running a 4S and a Typhoon 2W -20 I think... had to try a few different props before they came up with one that wouldn't cook the 60 A speedie !! [:)] Awesome to watch!!

TMC ... GT A FUNJET!! They are the Bees Knees ... way better than a Stryker ... We have eveyone flying funjets at our field at the moment ... One Stryker .. and it's OH so lame in comparison. Funjet is an awesome airframe ... we have one clocked at 220 kph and yet thay glide like a dream with no power. You will not regret it mate .. believe me .. Cheers Rowdy

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread
Thanks Itzobi, It was a nice flight .. local park always has a few Magpies which like to attack the unwary flyboy [:D] Always a great sight a nice big cub against a beautiful orange sunset. My motor mount was an epoxied 10mm stick into the firewall and a simple stick mount on that for the rear mounted brushless. Mounts are always a pain huh! Hope you sort yours out and have your Cub back in the air with some real grunt! The ailerons make it just great too .. So used to flying with them now .. it would seem wrong not to have them (bar the EZ* of course .. it will remain rudder only I think .. it's meant to be that way!! [:D] ) Cheers Rowdy

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread
Hey there Guys, Just stumbled back onto this forum and thought what better place to share my love of the Cub !! [:D] Been into RC for a few years now and have many planes ... started with Hobbyzone .. but unfortunately it was the Firebird freedom .. [:@] but after wasting significant dollars .. (as all firebird buyers do .. and are expected to do ...) I bought the cub .. and the love affair with RC planes began. [:)] She has been sitting in the garage for a year and a half or more awaiting a refit, to make her airworthy (and worthy of my attention) and last w/e I finally had the choice .. build my new 1.6 m predator .. or refit the Cub .. Chose the later .. and put what I had in her .. an Emax 2210/30 (1200 kv) Ailerons and some carving to fit a 2200 lipo. Probably should have made the ailerons a bit bigger (deeper) in hindsight .. to give her a bit more turning authority .. But hey she is a cub .. and she ended up flying pretty much scale!! [:D] Took her to my local field and amid a crowd of EDF's I put her down .. and gunned her up and .. well ... she's a Cub ... so off she flew!! [:)] Didn't even need to trim her. Glorious .. I was stoked. My good old Cub was back. Here's a vid of her second flight .. down the local park at sunset ... Cheers blokes Rowdy http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=8WDBLI3sn8Q
