RE: Strange Question about thrust
Actually 9.81N is the force a mass of 1Kg exerts on earth. Force is a vector it has magnitude and direction, mass on the other hand is a scalar and only has magnitude. They are not actually interchangeable but people do anyway

RE: Head Leaks Fuel
I think jetpack is referring to play in the conrod bushes. I don't thing the head gasket is a gasket as such but rather a shim to adjust compression ratio's, I have run engines with no shim and they don't leak. Downunder is correct conrods can strech in 4stroke engines. They are designed to take a compression force not tension. http://www.manxman.co.im/mvagusta/conrod.html

RE: Strange Question about thrust
low@slow What I meant, and should have said was it will accelerate to the same speed twice as fast.

RE: Strange Question about thrust
Force is newtons mass is Kg's. Torque is N.m, Force x distance. Power is Torque x rpm x Pi /60 or work done / time.

all else being equal the 2hp engine should spool up twice as fast.

RE: Synthetic Oils
Some of the turbine oils contain organophosphates to help them cope with the different operating conditions they experience. I don't think it is a myth.

Anybody using or considered using these http://www.brsparachutes.com/default.aspx maybe they could make model airplane ones, Might at least save the engines and retracts.

RE: Why Methanol?
Hexane is an excellent degreaser better than methanol so you would need more oil, also running hexane will make the needle very sensitive because the mixture will be more lean than with methanol. Another reason why you would need more oil. I think using the exhaust to pressurize the tank would be a big no no. I think methanol is just the best comprimise and just about any fuel could be made to work.

RE: The ABC myth?
Not all "Tapered Bore" engines are created equal, some will not have a problem running excessivly rich and some will. It depends on clearances, materials, design, fuel etc. To generalise and say running such an engine slobbery rich will destroy it, is incorrect, as is saying the opposite. The best way to find out if running rich will damage your engine is try it[;)]

RE: Opinions needed-3" spinner on TT .25?
I think the prop tips do most of the work like the last 2/3, I'd say try it and see, although I don't know anything about pylon racers.

RE: 160 twin; 12mm Reamer or ?
Never had a prop come loose on mine, its not the best but I drill my props out haven't had any problems yet. The lock nut has a m4 hole tapped in it which is nice for ally spinners.

RE: Crank Case Vent
I am not sure extra oil is actually good for ball bearings(to much oil could cause the balls to skid instead of roll) the fuel should have the right amount of oil to start with. Venting the crankcase to the manifold in a car is different as most cars have more than one cylinder and do not have air rushing in and out of the vent in the same way as a model 4 stroke.

RE: Making your own exhaust system?
I am not sure what they use it for but I see it a couple of times a week doing circuits close to where I work. I know it isn't traffic control, always the wrong time of day. I will keep the camera ready at work, the place where i work is up on the side of the mountain and this MONSTER flies around at about the same hight as we are. A couple of month's ago I saw a Hawker Hunter come whizzing at that sort of hight, which was nice.

RE: Making your own exhaust system?
I would only reduce the ID if you have fuel pressure problems when/if you put a pressure fitting on, as for the vibration you could use a small hose clamp with stiff wire trapped underneath(on the exhaust[8|]) and then secured to the nearest part of the fuse. BTW the storch is looking good, well, as good as it can look anyway[8D]

RE: Making your own exhaust system?
I have the Wren turbo prop plans, to build the engine and only buy the castings will cost around $1000 then you still have to buy oil and fuel pumps and an ecu. I will be getting a fuel pump and ecu for the engine I am busy with so I will use that for both engines. If I ever finish this engine it will go into a 1/4 husky.
