RE: Kudos Kingtech service!
I deal with Chuang from the KT factory for any issues that I or any of my buddies have with our engines given our locations and i'd second what Barry is saying. Mr. Chuang Wen-Fu of the KT Taiwan factory provides excellent support for us here... he's been able to get us quick turn arounds (2 weeks) on several engines that needed repair due to "mishaps" :D.... beats waiting 2 months anyday for units we send to Europe for repair :D Well done Kingtech!....
ORIGINAL: marquisvns ...and of course the factory in Taiwan, to tolerate our demands and suggestions, and their endless hard work put in in R&D and productions. I must admit, without passion, it'd be difficult for us to make this work; and for that, I thank the entire jet community, regardless of what engine you fly, to provide a ground for such a pleasurable service. It truly has been a privilege and we intend to keep it up for a great many years to come. Cheers, Barry Hou
HI Barry, i did.... My acceleration delay is normally at 5. I adjusted the delay to 10 and it still quit... Should i have gone to a higher value? I eventually returned the value to 5 and then just did longer ground runs prior to take off... the next day we had bright sunny conditions and the engine was good 1st time i tried it.... what do you think?

RE: KingTech K-80
Had a strange problem with two Kingtech K80s that are installed in falcon 120s. Last year, at around the same time we had two K80's that would not run cleanly through out the throttle range and would flame out for no apparent reason. It was around 32 deg. C for temperature and a 100% humidity as we had rain showers and thunder storms all day..... we sent the engines back to the factory but the factory said there was no problems and the engines were good... they have been running well and on my unit, i have over 12 hours of uninterrupted flight time. Similarly... around 2 days ago, similar conditions (32 deg. C and 100% humidity, showers with some thunderstorms) for the K80's existed and again, the two engines wouldnt run clean through the throttle range.... after you had achieved start up and the engine was running, sudden acceleration to 50% power would result in a flame out.... over and over again... fuel system, fuel was clean. no contamination.... all valves worked, fuel purge was no problem, filters, UAT were all clean...... we then did a longer ground runup and slowly opened the throttles allowing the engines to adjust slowly to each throttle setting... there was a bit of choking at 50% throttle, but if you allowed the engines to adjust slowly at each throttle position, until WOT, the engines eventually were able to adjust and did not flame out anymore... seemed the engines had to warm up at first???? I'm not really sure "warm-ups" are necessary but it has got me thinking that the ECU may have an issue with High Humidity environments? thats the only thing i can think of as both K80's had the same problem..... Would sealing the ECU be a good solution? Anyone had similar occurrences? Thanks in advance!

Shock oil viscosity for skymaster 1/8 F16
Guys, Does anyone know the viscosity of he shock oil in the skymaster oleo legs? I tokk the oleos apart cause the springs were of uneven length but i wasnt able to save any of the old oil. I was thinking of using rc car shock oil, but would anyone have a recommendation on what viscosity i should use? I think they have 300 and 500 grades? Thanks in advance! Rob.

Thanks Rich, Forgot to mention, i chopped 15mm off the mains and moved them 15mm also to improve the rotation. I pulled put the pipe and just have some copper colored areas, no blue/purple areas on it so it seems fine. Some concern on the pipe exhaust as its a bit mashed at the double wall support, but seems ok. Will obaerve it. Cant really say it is warping Thanks for this thread Rich, was really helpful ehen i was building the kit. I think the fb retracts leave alot to be desired so thats probably the next upgrade. RE: Manilla Modelers?
Bob, For turbines, the ff. link in FB groups has a few details on what we fly. https://www.facebook.com/groups/186069131439001/ We've got an assortment of turbines... SM F16, F86, JL F16, SM F16 (Big), Feibao Rafale and T33(big), BVM Mig 15, two Falcon 120s the are always in the air.... A few others in the build stage. We use an ultralight aerodrome named Woodlands, so if you would like time in ultralights or GenAv planes, there are a few available for rent also. When are you coming over? here's a vid link of a day flying made by Rich, one of the guys from the american embassy who's a member. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zEi5CycFQNU&list=FLUZJdU5EwEXz3pgHkhpB_Qg&feature=plcp&context=C3afb2b1PDOEgsToPDskKJUMPWLHqKV38Zfmg5U_5p Regards

RE: Manilla Modelers?
Hi Bob, depends on what you're going to fly. If its just small RC planes/helicopters there are clubs/fields close to manila (an hour away) that you can join. If its turbines, we'll have to go near Clark in Pampanga.....

RE: UP2 and UP6 Valve Timing Adjustment
Hi Dave, Thanks! you're right, i am using the UP2 and UP4 valves to control the two sets of gear doors that the rafale has. I normally top up airtanks to 100-110 psi, but when adjusting, i do not keep them topped up during the time i am adjusting the timing. I'll just apply what you wrote... Thanks! Rob

UP2 and UP6 Valve Timing Adjustment
Hi.... need a little help. I am using the UP 2 & 6 valves for a feibao rafale. I am confused on how to adjust the timing such that the gear door timing takes longer to close. As per the manual, it is adjustable to 5 sec delay but the most i have been able to adjust is 2 seconds. The doors are causing the gears to get jammed..... Just to confirm, the needle valves should be turned into the body to increase the time delay and turned out to decrease the delay right? This is what i have done but no effect. Do i need to somehow balance the door in and door out needle valves? Appreciate your inputs.... Thanks!

Ok... I have checked the turbine shaft and it is rotating freely without grinding/binding. The starter seems to disengage properly but will check.... Is the fuel pump of the 120sx and the 160sx the same? i have a 160sx that i can swap fuel pumps with just to check if the fuel pump has an issue?

RE: Fei Bao / RC Jet Models Rafale Build Thread by RCISFUN
Thanks Mike, Really appreciate the input... Pondering over it, if mathematically, the CG is at 140mm, empty with gears down, i cant move it back significantly as it will behave poorly once the fuel is consumed.... The more logical solution is moving the fuel tanks somehow so that they dont have such a nose heavy effect when it is filled with fuel.... Is there an issue with placing fuel tanks next to the turbine exhaust/bellmouth area? There is a lot of room there.... Regards

KC, Carsten, Thanks. I just measured the actual fuel volume in the tanks. Its coming out 2550ml or 86.23 fl. oz. With a 4.5 minute full throttle run, the fuel consumption is 19.11 oz/minute. Higher than the published 12 oz/min. Any idea on what could be the problem? Should i reset the ECU? All equipment is stock. Thanks in advance! Regards Rob

Thanks Mike, What C.G. are you guys using with this plane? almost all of the threads i have read uses 130-140mm for the C.G. Is there a mathemetical way of determining the CG so i can determine a CG range so i dont inadvertently put the CG to far back? Appreciate if any links could be provided. I will try to assign the canard trims to flap trims.... i've never used flap trims so i'll need to experiment a bit with my 11X. Thabnks again!

RE: Fei Bao / RC Jet Models Rafale Build Thread by RCISFUN
Guys, Just built and maidened The feibao Rafale! I also experienced the brutal takeoff with it jumping into the air... but just push the nose down and it was fine. I havnt been able to get the setting right yet as i flew with gear down and that will come with more flights.... My CG is around 138mm, but i feel it can be moved back as it is dropping the nose on turns. On the throws, I used high throws to fly and full canards. I found the low rates to be insufficient to move the plane quick enough. But i also use expo so i am not sure if the throws in the manual are supposed to be used w/o expo or not. Also, My Canards are linked to D/R and Trim of the elevators. Do you guys couple the canards with the elevator trims also? I am not sure of this at the moment if i should have linked the two. Additionally, how long do you guys fly? I have a 120SX in mine.... i flew 4.5 minutes on the maiden and was surprised to see it had consumed all 3 tanks (92 oz) completely. I think my 120SX might have an issue and will ask on the jetcat forum. Thanks!

RPM 33,000 Low Idle 33,000 Kero Start, Version 6.6 Idle throttle Response: Normal Full Throttle Response: Fast Throttle Curve: 3 Also, I notice that during runs when moving the throttle from idle to WOT, the engine spool up is not smooth, and the increase in power seems to surge at mid,3/4 and fullt throttle... my expereience on my p80SE is that the throttle response is smooth as you move from low to full power... Appreciate your views if there is anything i can do on my end. For fuel, i use JETA1 with a 5% turbine oil mix. Thanks!

I havn't measured them per se... I'm using the stock tanks and based on the build manual by RCISFUN(Rich Miller), they are 92 oz. which i think should be accurate as its in the manual.... Anything i should look at on the ECU parameters?
