RE: Fuel tank venting
David. I've done the same miss 2 or 3 times. All on my Euro when the glow plug failed before a flight. All ended with flameouts after 2-3 minutes in the air. Luckily with a happy ending[:D] The M160 has a hunger for plugs, so the solution for me was to add a "remove b4 flight" tag on the bung as you said + that I now always check that the glow plug works after each fligt by initiating a start after cooldown (you get a message on the Gaspar gsu if it's broke). Better to find out after a flight than just when you are about to fly standing in que at the flight line.

RE: P-200SX
ORIGINAL: olnico The Hanson/BVM UATs are not suitable for the P-200 in case of multiple fuel tanks. I have seen tank suction, cavitation and bubbles generated in a perfectly leak free system with large diameter fuel lines. The fuel flow demand for the P-200 is simply too high for these soft tanks. You should really consider moving to a hard tank like the PST air trap or the Tom Cook aluminium tank.
Oliver. I am quoting you from the FEJ F-16 thread. Got my new P200 SX the other day[:D] One thing I don't understand since the P-200/SX is so thirsty and have high demands of the plumbing and fuel system, is why they supply the P200 with a Hausl fuelpump with the small 4mm intake nipple?? Had a look at my friends older P200 and it had the small pump too... Even my Merlin 160 is delivered with the ZP30020SF pump with 5mm intake nipple. Why don't JetCat use a pump with 5mm intake nipple to prevent cavitation?? Quote from the MTH web page from the ZF30025S/F pump: "5mm suck fitting for a lower suck resistance. (cavitation)" Have a look at the [link=http://www.modelltechnik.at/E300.htm]MTH pump web site[/link]

RE: JetCat V3 kero plug blown after only 34 starts - Normal??
ORIGINAL: digitech Staale dont get upset, dont make a drama out of it[;)] you will have warranty, if it takes to long for you send it to me i will replace it for you for free. there is only one new one and that is the V3 plug. this plug has the same ignitor then the version that is build inside the engine. these plugs give little or no problems at all , my SX has over 150 starts at the moment and still runs from the first ignition. still please use a Lipo or a123(needs ecu hardware update) of at least 25C for constant power to the plug. the plugs and the ecu and engine can not be used to start over and over again. first check if it not ignites , look up its ass to see if the ignitor is bright orange,if these is no small flame during ignition fase there is another problem. most warranty cases i see if that the plug casing has become darker that means it has run extremely long and very hot. to a point where the power to the plug collapses , and wont ignite anymore. (to hot). people sometime start and start to see if it will start eventualy , this is not the way to do it. dont use a starting cycle to get air out of the system , use a full battery preffered lipo with at least 2500 25-30C (not chinese c,s) this will give you easy 5-7 starts. make sure you see the fuel pass slowly towards the plug , most problems we ever see is a to slow pump power in the ignition phase. wrong battery,s and to long and to thin cable towards the ECU.
Sandor: Thanks for your input! The casing shows no sign of being hot. Same metal color as before. Never had had a bad start before it broke. ECU says "failed starts = 0" and of course always bleed the system via the GSU terminal. I use a Sanyo NiCd 2400 pack in the plane (old fashioned) but connect a external 2 cell 30C LiPo after the start up sequence is initiated and disconnect once start up is finnished. That way I get at least 6 starts/ flights without draining either battery below 50%. The Battery indicator always stays at 75-100% during the whole starting sequence.

RE: JetCat V3 kero plug blown after only 34 starts - Normal??
ORIGINAL: Dave Wilshere JetCat were honest and said they could not say. Everyday we all learn more about this new system! 18 months ago I was changing 2-3 a month. In the last 6 months I think I have changed 3-4. The internal SX system (same V3 type) I am yet to have a returned turbine. The latest design is much better, sealing the teflon tube and having a good ECU pack has reduced the miss-start problems greatly. I'd like a larger nipple on the screw in type to actually match the 4mm tube supplied, but lock wire solves this.
Thanks for the input on your experiences with the kero plug. Much appreciated! Keep them comming[:)] Anyone had any troubble getting a new one on waranty? Hi Dave! Do have an rough idea on how many starts your customers got before their plug failed? You changing 2-3 a month for your customers doesn't say much about the plugs life span. At least there seem to an improvement since you are changing less plugs now, unless your customer makes fewer flights now that the winter is closing in. I know of people who doesn't have 30 flights on an engine in 3 years or so, and probably would happy with a 30 start life span. If the SX uses the same kero plug, I don't find that very re-assuring... But I really hope that the plug being in cooler section in the combustion chamber will make the difference needed for a long life! What's the "latest design" you are talkin about? Is there a V4 out?

JetCat V3 kero plug blown after only 34 starts - Normal??
Hi. I bought a new P80 SE in July, and today after only 34 starts/ 6h runtime, the kero plug went bust. I think this is way to soon for a kero plug costing $190 and even more in Europe to break! Luckily I had bought a spare one just in case something like this would happen, so it would not ruin a flying day... I am going to call my dealer first thing on Monday morning and demand a new one, but it would be interesting to know if my case is the rule or the exemtion... The ECU ia a V6.0 running on 7,2V NiCd So you JetCat kero start users: How many starts do you get from your kero plugs? Surely they should last a lot longer than this?? I sure hope the internal element in the SX turbines are better than this! I would be seriously pi$$ed off if I had to send my new P200 SX to Germany and be without a engine for weeks if the plug would break after only 30 starts[:'(]

RE: Experience with Jetcat Turboprop
On of my flying buddies have owned a couple of jet cat turbo props for two years or so, and they have been a little troubblesome to say the least. Problems seem to be with the gearbox seizing or making strange noises. Anyway. He has had little pleassure of his engines since they have been out of service or at jet cat. Sometimes for a very long time and comunication has not been the best. He has been promissed that the issues is now fixed, but after a few runs, something breaks anyway... I would go for Wren if I was after a turboprop. They seem to run well, and if there should be any problems they always seem to fix it in a short time and keep their customers happy.
ORIGINAL: NICLAS Why is Graupner pricepolicy to worst.More expensive than a Flash.... The G-Booster is sold directly from EvoJet because of this(that what I was told at JP) so after a while is this also sold from the maker or......??
Agreed. They alway seem to price themselves completely out of the market. Who will buy a Graupner Booster now that EvoJet is on the market when everybody knows it's the same engine from the same manufacturer with some of the design changed because of copyright reasons (colors, casing, ECU, 12volt system etc.) Did anyone ever buy the medium sized Hawk they released two years ago?? It was a nice plane, but twice as pricy as it should have been... No one I know will ever buy a Grapner plane or engine with the prices they keep. It is hard to see the new sport jet getting popular too with the great Flash on the market for less money, and the Flash is not excatly cheap either... RE: s/m 1/6 f16 in my hot little hands!
Hi[:)] Have a few Q's for the F-16 enthusiasts in here. I sold my Tiger F-16 last summer. I must have been out of my mind to do it since it did not take to long before I started regretting it[:o] Now I got the opertunity to get it back, and I did not hesitate. This time it stays for sure! I have ordered a P200 SX for it as I like slow high alpha style flying and need a power to weight ratio greater than 1:1. Then I also need a new pipe for it. I see Skymaster is also making a "180 and up" pipe for it. Is the pipe OK for P200? I also recond my old by-pass won't fit any more. Does Skymaster also make a 180 by-pass for the F-16, and will it fit the P200? I plan on keeping the top of, but want the bottom half to seperate the wheel wells from the engine. Also. What tanks are you guys using as smoke tanks? I will use all 3 fueltanks for the P200, so smoke tanks need to go on in on both sides of the engine in the wing roots. Thanks for your help!!
