RE: pc interface
Okay finally got it working. For some reason this program will not work on my laptop unless it is opened a particular way. Here is how I did it I have to open the HPP-22 software by right clicking on the shortcut, then click on Run as Administrator, then ,on my computer, a diaolog box comes up asking if you would like to let this program make changes to your computer; click on yes, and HPP-22 opens. Now continue as you normanally would and all is well. Thanks for the help AT you got me going in the right direction. Oscar

RE: pc interface
Thanks Alan, I tried the procedure outlined in the attachment you included, but nothing happened. The instructions state that when you slect the proper HTS-SS sensor station from the drop down menu the sensor data display window will pop up. Not on my computer; nothing happens. I talked to a Hitec rep today and he told me to send in the HPP-22 for repair. So I will box it up and send it off when I finish this job. I'm in Converse,La a present. Thanks again Oscar

pc interface
Has anyone used the HPP-22 to display flight data on a computer. If so; how did you do it? I can not get mine to work. This is what I have been doing: After following the instructions from the HTS-SS 2.4Gz Telemetry Product Installation Guide, Page 5 HPP-22 PC Interface, at step #4 Turn on Aurora and select “OK to transmit, I notice that my Aurora 9 boots up in ppm mode. Then at step #8: As the target select SPECTRA 2.4 Module The HPP-22 screen does not prompt me to select: “Sensors data display?, but instead goes to the regular HPP-22 firmware upgrade screen. Instructing me to plug in the cord to slot #1 on HPP-22 and plug the other end into the Spectra 2.4Gz Module etc... What am I doing wrong I have the following firmware ver. HPP-22= ver1.12 Rec Optima #7 = ver 2.02(0) Trans Aurora 9 = ver 1.08(1) 2.4Gz Rf Module = ver 3.01(0) Thanks for any help anyone can give Oscar

RE: Seaplane debate
BBJP I have built the HOB float plane. It is a very nice kit. The laser cut parts fit together perfectly. I put an OS FP.10 on it with an 8x3 prop; the prop was way to big for the engine, so it just barley got of the water and would just barley fly. However that was not the fault of the plane; rather my choice of props. I have not had a chance to fly it with another prop 7x5 so I really can't comment on how it flies. Oscar

RE: Guillows Cesna 150 with COX .020 Pee Wee RC
I have a cox .020 with a factory exhaust throttle; I have no idea how well it works, because I have never ran the engine. I was told when I bought the engine that it was for a Cox Little Stinker Pitts. Edit: It comes without an attached tank, so it would be ideal for your project. If you can find one; I'm hanging on to mine. I have a Dumas Pettenpol I am going to use it in.

[quote]ORIGINAL: A.T.Never use balance plug for connection to the SPC port I do not disagree with you, but never is such a strong word. I'm talking about a 14oz flat foamie with an 800MA 2s lipo and a 50 watt motor.

RE: New Hitec Aurora 9-Channel 2.4Ghz Radio System
The plug I used came with the ends stripped and tinned with solder. I plugged the red wire into the red wire on the balance plug, it fit just right, and I plugged the black wire into the black wire in the balance plug, farthest away from the red wire. Plug the other end, the one with the female servo plug into the SBC slot on the receiver. If the voltage you read is not high enough, you are not reading all the cells. Test the leads on the balance plug to see which 2 read all the cells. All of my lipos are as I stated red wire and black wire farthest away. Hope this helps

While you where playing around you may have activated Auto hibernation. Go to Systems menu then SYS. MGNT and see if auto hibernation is set to anything but never. I don't like the feature and have sent mine to never.

What address do I send the free receiver form to? The box for my A9 says I have Firmware version 2.02, but the info screen says I have version 1.08(1); could you clear that up for me? Do I need to upgrade. Thank you, Oscar

RE: New Hitec Aurora 9-Channel 2.4Ghz Radio System
Hello Everybody, Just got my A9 and I set up my Optima 7 with some severos just playing around. I set it up like you would for an electric, with a BL motor, ESC/w built in BEC and a 3-cell lipo. I plugged the lead from the speed control to channel 3, and plugged the jumper in the SBC slot. When I power up and look at the receiver voltage it reads 5 volts. I suspect that is the regulated voltage from the Bec. Is that how the telemetry works. I thought in the above setup the A9 would read the voltage of the battery before the Bec, but I guess that is all the transciever sees, the 5 volts from the Bec. Is there a way to get the telemtry to read the raw lipo voltage? Thanks Edit: Nevermind I just figured it out. I got a pigtail with a red and black wire in my package, I wondered what it was for, any way I used it to plug into the SBC slot from the balance plug of my lipo. Now I'm reading the voltage from my motor battery. Much more usefull than reading 5 volts all the time. Edit: I have the form for the free receiver and half price second receiver, but there is no address on the form. Anybody have the snail-mail address for the free receiver offer. Thanks again

RE: Cleaning Solutions
I recently used the anti-freeze crockpot method on an old super tiger .40. It worked great making the engine look like new again, but after the crockpot cleaning the engine had very little compression. Did not seem to hurt the preformance any; it starts easily and runs great, but there is very little resistance at TDC. If I used this method again I would remove the piston and liner maybe the crank and just clean the case head and muffler. Then again like I said the engine preforms well; just feels strange flipping the prop. This engine used to really snap when you flipped the prop thru compression.

RE: Dirt Cheap RC
Great advice JohnP2; I wish I would of thought of that. I went ahead and ordered the trx. They have an actual physical address so I feel pretty safe. I really wanted to avoid the type of operations that do not have any inventory and wait until they get a number of purchases before they actually buy the items ordered. With the internet a slick web page can make a shady operation look legit. I'm sure you've read some of the horror stories about some internet purchases. Unless you've delt with them before or know someone who has there is just no way of knowing. I will use your advice next time. Thanks

RE: Dirt Cheap RC
I did not look at prices for anything besides the item I was searching for; an Auroa 9 @ $309.99 I may have not been clear in my post. I was not looking for a price comparison. I wish to know if anyone has bought from them, and their experiance with them. Did they ship promptly? Was shipping charge reasonable. Did the order arrive undamaged and complete. Was the item instock. If not did they play games like charge your card and give lame excuses whern the order did not ship. I want to know if they are a good company to deal with. Thank you

Dirt Cheap RC
Has anyone purchased from The Barn Floor Dirt Cheap RC. They have some very good prices, but I thought I better check them out here as they are a car type hobby shop. They are listed as an online extension of Barnstormers Off-Road R/C Raceways, and have a store in Chester, NY. I would appreciate any feedback from someone who has delt with them, shipping, coustomer service, ect.. Thank you,

RE: Power supply question
Sorry CG I know as a mod you do not have the time to read each post carefully. I was refering to post #4 last sentence. "or will the charger regulate the voltage" Besides you will always missunderstand if you only read one sentence of a post. I do not type fast enough to argue or discuss on line so I am sorry if I offend anyone, just seemed very clear to me.

RE: Power supply question
Right, the charger will only use what it needs. The printer power supply will have a small schematic showing which wire supplies which volts; so a meter is not needed, but you should get one. It doesn't have to be the best you can buy, $10.00 units work just fine.

RE: Power supply question
Discarded printer power supply make very good power supplies for RC. I have one that I am using that puts out 12 volts at 4.1 amps. Another that I have outputs 16 volts at 1.6 amps. I never throw away a power supply with reading what the output is.

RE: Electrics and Glow Airplanes
I started with small electrics, but I could only afford 1 battery for each plane. So it was 1 flight recharge, repeat. When I built my first glow plane a .10 shrike and flew back to back flights as fast as I could refuel, my flying improved quickly and I have never looked back. I have a couple of brushless motors and esc with lipos, but they are rarely in a plane. I love glow. The largest plane I have is a .40; most are .10-.25 Oscar

Where do you buy fuel. DDD quoted a price of $41.85 for 2 quarts $12.95/qt and $15.95 shipping. I thought that was kind of high; or is that the going price.

RE: choices
These are orginal engines. This man has been collecting engines for over 60 years. However, I am not sure what an original CS would be. I was looking at these engines instead of modern engines because they are NIB and priced at $40-$60 each. Anyway for $40 I went ahead and bought one of the CS .15, and an Elfin .15 for $60 That you everyone for all the information and help. Oscar

choices
I am going to buy my first diesel. These are all new in box. Which would you buy and why. I have years of glow experience, but never ran a desiel. The choices are: CS .15, Elfin .15, MVVS .09, PAW 2.49, PAW 1.49, I am leaning toward both of the PAWS simply because I have heard of the brand, but the Elfin name sounds interesting. All are new in box and priced from $60.00-$40.00 each. I have bought engines from this person before and found him to be honest and trustworthy. He is a retired Hobby Shop owner with a large collection of engines he is selling off. Thanks, Oscar
