RE: M&D Design G260 Modified Zenoah (Cant decide on what Hull)
Found a nice cat - should work nice with your 26 cc engine too. http://www.horracing.com/product_info.php?products_id=595 Phil

****Smiling**** That thing looks fast just sitting there. I don't see how you could go wrong with that boat/setup. Your 26cc should push it right nicely and still get an excellent turn radius being a single V. Also with all the options out there you could probably hide that pipe and flush mount it in the transom.
ORIGINAL: kvnnina Not saying my engine is faster than yours cause I know its not. But I want to keep it going atlest 60mph. With good turning.
I have no experience with the Zenoah G260 but just from looking on youtube and internet I would say it is better suited for something in the 40-45 inch range. Not sure at all how it would do in a larger hull though. No doubt, a 54" boat is not small. Phil

Well to be fair I am pushing her with a Quickdraw 29 Pioneer so she's not exactly slow. LOL Haven't GPS'ed it yet but I am guessing in the straights she's running right around 70. My wife was supposed to have been video tapping ( on my BlackBerry) a 10 min run yesterday at the lake but was unfamiliar with how to actually record with it so.... just as soon as I get the time off I will post a video of my next run. With only @120 miles between you and Central RC Hobbies located in Peoria I would definitely check out what Rich Jacobson has to offer. I bought one of his 54" Mystic Sport and love the thing. It handles chop much better than I expected out of a twin V. Corners like it is on rails and for the price I don't see how you can beat it. Give him a ring - He is a great guy to do business with and knows his stuff. Phil

RE: New 54
I tightened up the lines so that there is no play in them now. I haven't had a chance to run it yet but I believe that will fix the problem I was having. Really looking forward to getting to run her wide open. Question: On the Pipe, I really need to do something quick to keep it from rusting. I have a friend that does powdercoat. Will that work or what do you all recommend? I was thinking some good spray paint, maybe something for grills might work good. Phil

V8Rider - This is directly from Quickdraw: WARNING: Do NOT use prop blast pickups, use a double water pickup rudder only. Make sure the smallest hole through this rudder is 1/8". If yours is smaller, drill it out to 1/8" with a long drill bit. <span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";mso-fareast-font-family:Calibri;mso-fareast-theme-font:minor-latin;mso-ansi-language:EN-US;mso-fareast-language:EN-US;mso-bidi-language:AR-SA">Any air that gets in the water jacket will expose the head button briefly, this will over heat very fast and burn the head button o-ring and take the heat treat out of your head button and possibly seize the piston. RE: New 54
V8Rider - Click on this link. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_11055322/tm.htm Scroll down to post #16 That is what I ran into with my setup as well. I needed the Dual Pickup Rudder according to Quickdraw. The logic was that the DWPR would always be deep enough in the water that it wouldn't allow ANY air bubbles to get into the water lines. On my maiden run I ran the boat with the Dual Flushmount pickups. I drilled out the brass connectors to 1/8 in and added bigger water lines. I ran the boat for about five minutes. Almost no water came out of the outlet. I suspected right away that air was getting into the lines and since I didn't have the cowl on I just pulled the boat up to me and cut the engine. Sure enough It had air bubbles throughout. From pickup to engine on the intake lines and from engine to water outlet on the out lines. No biggie right. Already had the Speedmaster Rudder at the house. Came home and started making the modifications to get it to fit into the Kintech rudder housing. a couple of hours later and it was in. I need to get you the pics. It looks pretty sweet. All in all the boat looks great and rides really well. I think Rick was probably right about "slop" being in the lines. I just need to check that before I run her again. The rear end is only getting loose when I run it WOT. Will get you all some pics this week for sure. Phil

RE: New 54
I can check that out Rick. I do know I didn't have any issue with handling with the rudder you put on the boat. Only after I modded it to accommodate the SpeedMaster rudder did I start to have issues. Tell me, how will I know if I have the proper amount of tension on the cables? Is any play acceptable or do I need to tighten them both really tight? BTW - Good catch. I guess I just assumed it had to have something to do with the new rudder. Thanks, Phil

V8Rider - I guess the short and sweet of it is: I've been reading over you guys threads for a while now. Some of them dating back to 06 and 07. I got interested in RC Offshore Gas Boats after I watched a video of a Ballantine Hobbies 53" Mantis. I was hooked and have wanted to get into the hobbie every since. Wait that wasn't too short an explanation. I guess I just wanted to hear what you guys had to say. Tell me - how's that T-Bolt holding up? Phil

Wetsleeves - Rick did a GREAT job on the build. I was very pleased with the way my boat turned out. Until I get some pictures taken and uploaded on here, you can see 1 picture of the inside of my boat on Rick's site. Click on Mystic 54 Sport at the top of the page and then scroll down. RE: New 54
Dicko - Thanks for the info. The SpeedMaster Rudder is longer and I did notice that my boat cornered very smoothly at a pretty good speed. I mentioned shortening it because I read on another cat thread that sometimes "less is more". I know the prop is sharpened but can't swear it is balanced. Guess I need to buy a balancer. I will measure the strut height and get you guys some pictures before I make any changes to it. Phil
