RE: ProBoat Impulse 31 BL
ORIGINAL: srt10
ORIGINAL: SFC K Thanks for the insight. I kind of figured that it would slow it down. I was already considering a new prop for it. I read somewhere on here that a 45mm prop is a good upgrade for this boat. I was going to get the Carbon fiber Graupner but I am not sure which pitch is best as there are different ones. I don’t plan to race

So I signed up for intlwaters and waiting for approval. Hopefully it does not take much longer… No one has had any experience with the carbon fiber props?

RE: 4th boat build. Mini-Kaze Stepboat
Thanks, I really appreciate that!! I actually was home for 2 weeks I Sept. It went rather quickly but the weather was really nice! 80’s and 90’s for most of it. Cool, can’t wait to see some more pictures of this one. I may have to build something that I can run the .65 K&B motor. I wonder if I could adapt a flex shaft to the output and run it that way with a rudder for steering. I thought I saw something like that on here…I will dig for it…

RE: E-maxx screw pin issues
It has the aluminum bulk heads and aluminum arms. This is the Mamba max version of the E-maxx. The stock screw type is breaking due to the amount of jumping this truck is put through. This is a friend’s truck, not mine and we are stationed in Kuwait. The conditions here are really rough on these RC's. My HPI has not broken yet (Knock on wood) and has seen the same abuse. Even with the stock parts they were breaking. I will let him know that the lundfords will fit the E-Maxx.

RE: Nice to have?
Thanks for the response and the link! I will check it out. Unfortunately I am deployed and will not be back until this spring so making it to the meeting is out. I work in Bloomington so I know exactly where that pond is. Just not sure how to get down to it but this will help. I saw those grease guns on offshoreelectrics.com site and thought It would make it easier but the way the directions say to oil the cable, I can do that. I just wasn’t sure if this was needed or not. I thought about a prop balancer but for now I will use the stock one and I was going to order a Graupner 45mm carbon fiber prop for it that does not need sharpening or balancing. I’m just not sure what pitch to get for the Impulse 31 though…I have looked on a few informational sites that explain the difference but I’m still lost a bit. I have been into RC’s since the early 90’s so I have plenty of tools, just not boat specific like the prop balancer. When I get back I will definitely will stop out and learn more about RC boating… Jeff

E-maxx screw pin issues
I have a question on the Traxxas Brushless E-maxx. The Suspension Screw pins keep breaking and I want an aftermarket part to replace these steel parts. Does anyone know if the Lundsford Titanium pins set fit this truck? Lundsfords site says they are for the T-maxx 3.3 and the dimensions for the pins do not match the stock screw pins set. Stock part: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXMJE8&P=Z Lundsford part for T-Maxx 3.3 http://www.lunsfordracing.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Session_ID=bfa3ad18ea14f3bbbbff558c558cd023&Screen=PROD&Store_Code=LUNS&Product_Code=3801&Category_Code=TRUC-TRTM3

Nice to have?
Hello all, Just order my first RC FE boat from ProBoat and I was wondering what special tools/gadgets I should have in my tool box for when I need to do maintenance? FYI, I have 15 plus ground based RC’s that range from nitro to electric so I have all the basic tools and gear. I know that I need some type of marine grease for the flex shaft but I have seen these grease guns too. Are they worth the 15 bucks or so or is it just easier to pull the shaft out and grease it manually? Are there any other nice to have items for boating? Thanks!

RE: My first scale crawler Toyota Land Cruiser 40 CC-01 Kit
Any progress on this yet? Where did you order your bearings from? The CC-01 is a great little rig with a ton of potential. I have one too and have added the GPM steering upgrade, Junfac 4 link kit and skid plate, custom rear shock mounting. If you need any help with the GPM steering rack let me know. It can be a pain the butt and you will need your dremel too. The links will rub on the steering skid plate on the inside. Also, make sure you have some loc-tite on hand as well. They do not send instructions with the kit... Edit: Looks like this is a really old thread. Yikes!

There are some clubs in my local area that I might join later on once I get some time behind the wheel of a boat.

ProBoat Impulse 31 BL
I am getting the ProBoat Impulse 31 and was noticing that they have a dual rudder option for this boat. My question is what are the advantages to this verses the single offset rudder? Would this increase steering or just slow it down? I’m new to the boat scene so please bare with me. Thanks!

Exceed Racing boats?
I was doing some looking for large scale Gas boats and notice there is not much to find here on these boats. I did look at the recent thread here on Exceed boats, but it does not really answer any of my questions I have about them. I’m not really a fan of Exceeds ground based RC’s, but their boats have caught my attention. I’m looking at either getting a large scale Gas boat or BL version deep V type boat to enjoy during the summer months in MN. I’m wondering if these are just complete junk or worth a look so please be honest if you respond. I was looking at the 50 deep V’s and for an ARTR I can get one for $270. One thing I did notice is the Hulls look really thin and in some of the pictures you can see the decals on from the inside looking out. This leads me to believe they are not that strong but I don't really know. The motors don’t have that quality look to them either. So anyone have any comments to share on this brand? Thanks!
ORIGINAL: nitro-rob SFCK you are a rare breed - you ACTUALLY read the forum before posting.  Thank you.  Welcome.
Thanks! I’m no Rookie to the forums. I just wish others would do the same as I do. 60 pages on a product that was just released means that someone has asked the questions. I also like to do a little research before I make the plunge in a purchase. Google is so my friend too as with the forums.

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...
I just finished reading all 60 pages and I am glad I did. There were some humorous points too. I plan on ordering one soon now that I have the info needed to proceed. I believe my 2s Turnigy 5000mah packs will fit with measurements really close to the max measurements given. Length for me is 142 not including the wires that come out of the corner which increase the width to 52 at the wires but the case is a whole mm narrower than the 47 max width allowed. Height is not even an issue. If they don’t fit HK is an order away… Thanks for all the great info!

It does not come with bearings anymore to keep the cost down. Does anyone know what size bearings the kit needs or do you use the stock bushings Or do I just order the HPI version for $60 and not have to mess around trying to complete the STRC kit?

RE: Official HPI Blitz Thread!!
Hey all, I'm waiting for my Novak Havoc 2S Sport Sensored Brushless System 8.5T for my Blitz. I also ordered MIP Universals as well. I was reading through here and noticed that the drive cups are wearing out fast. I am in Kuwait and with the high heat and dust I have had no issues. I did lose a dog bone once from a hard landing but popped it back in and it has been fine. I have not had any issues with the ESC either. A couple of times it would slow down from being too hot. I let it cool and it was fine. I am pretty pleased with the durability of this truck. Some of the guys bought the Slash 4x4’s and they are always breaking something. One broke with-in the first 5 minutes of the run. Any way I will post up some pictures next time we run. My parts should be here tomorrow...[:D]

RE: 2nd Build: Outrigger Airboat
ORIGINAL: Got RPM I strongly recommend that you do not use balsa in your build. It is too weak and in a crash is more likely to fail. I know, I used it in a water-prop SAW boat and crashed at 80 mph - the boat broke apart. Use basswood and liteply instead, and don't worry about a few extra ounces of weight, it is meaningless. Strength is far more important. The boat looks way cool so far! .
Where does one buy Basswood and Liteply? Never heard of them before.
