Vintage builders - which type of glue?
Back in the days when there weren't any ARFs and true modelers built wood kits or cut the own parts from carefully selected balsa, were you an Ambroid modeler or a Testors kwik dry glue guy? I always used Ambroid. I was told it remained somewhat flexible while Testors kwik dry was brittle. I have to admit, waiting for the Ambroid to dry on a humid day was like watching a slow clock.

RE: New Model, Old Design, Can You Identify?
I really miss R/C Modeler magazine and the old style Model Airplane News. I miss the construction articles, Clarence Lee Engine Clinic and of course the advertisements. Model Airplane News looks more like a slick brochure than a magazine. Now that the art of construction has almost died, the magazines aren't as interesting to me now. I don't subscribe to any of the magazines and can typically scan through the AMA magazine in a few minutes then into the trash it goes.

Vintage S & O transmitter
I have a vintage S&O transmitter that is in perfect condition but I don't know much about the radio. I believe they were considered top of the line radios for their day and their stick assemblies were highly desirable. Can anybody out there provide additional information? Thanks in advance

Deadstik, I have the Controlaire reed system, I also have a MAN 123 and a Controlaire in like new condition. I have collected over 120 radiios the last three years. Attached are some photos. It has been fun collecting but the pricies for sytems I want have gone through the roof. I may sell some of my collection on Ebay over the next few months. Somebody on this forum sent me an email asking about single channel radio equipment but I lost the email. I have a couple of drawers full of stuff and would be happy to send photos of what I have.

Highplains, I am looking for a Proline transmitter with the Kraft round chrome gimbal sticks. RE: Royal Single Stick Radio
I will be happy to add your Royal single stick to me collection of radios. I currently have over 120 transmitters and radios in my collection. Reeds for the 1950's and proportional sets from the 1960's and 1970's. I am currently looking for a Gallaxy transmitter made by Ted White, a Pro Line radio with the Kraft chrome gimballs, a Specialist transmitter and a Kraft proportional with the gold anodized case, not the vinyl covered case. What will it cost to ship the radio to Houston, Texas, zip code 77008 ? Steve Gibson

RE: Orbit 7-14 auction
I collect old radios and put a bid in on that old Orbit set. I didn't bid anywhere near what it sold for. That's the way it is on Ebay. I bought one radio on Ebay for $35.00 and was willing to go up to $300.00 I've seen some radios I wouldn't give you $25.00 for them and they end up going for a hundred dollars plus. Jaymen, whatever happened with that old Kraft radio you found for me? I never got a call from the owner. I would like to own one of the old Kraft proportional transmitters with the gold anodized case, NOT the vinyl covered case. I have fifteen of those. I would also like to acquire a Ted White Galaxy transmitter, a Specialist transmitter and a Pro Line with the Kraft style closed chrome gimbals. I have over a hundred radios in my collection and am currently interested in any American made radio with a metal case. I have most of the makes with the vinyl covered transmitters from the late 60's and 70's. S Gibson Houston, TX

RE: "and now for the rest of the story"
Paul Harvey also sold a light kit for your RC plane. I remember one Christmas edition of a model magazine showing Paul Harvey getting a Pro Line radio system from his wife. I was in high school at the time and a dedicated Kraft owner. Paul Harvey recdeiving a Pro Line got to me a little. Growing up in Indiana and listening to Paul Harvey was part of growing up.

Are there any 'Vintage' hobby shops in your area ?
Are there any 'vintage' hobby shops left where you live? I grew up near Indianapolis and we had two or three full service hobby shops. My fondest memories are of Les Pruitts hobby shop on the west side of Indianapolis. I bought a used Citizen-ship five channel proportional set a made payment for several months before I could take it home. A year later I traded it back in, for ten dollars less than I paid for it, on a new Kraft Series Seventy six channel. If you had a screwed up motor Les would order parts and even do the work on the motor if needed. The shop was well stocked with kits, motors, new & used radios, balsa, and any acccessory you could ever want. My dad would drive me over on Sundays so I could by parts for whichever plane I was building. RC flyers would hang out there, drink coffee and talk about model airplanes. The only well stocked hobby shop I am aware of near me is in southwest Houston. They have tons of ARF's, radios, helis, fuel and parts with friendly and knowledgable staff but it does lack that old time hobby shop feeling. Any of you older RC pilots know what I am talking about?

This new Airtronics seems to be priced right but it has a retro look that I don't care for. Remember Robbie the Robot from the early 60' science fiction movies and "Lost In Space' ? Maybe they melted Robbie down and made this transmitter !

You have a four wire, Kraft KPS-11 servo that was offered with the Kraft Series Seventy through about Series Seventy Three systems. In 72, 73 or 74 they still sold the KPS-11 servo with the three wire configuration. I collect old radios. I have a drawer full of Kraft servos. How many do you want at $10.00 each?

RE: Who repairs old radios from the 60's & 70's ?
My Citizen-Ship four and five channel transmitters have the knurled ends on the sticks. Eloy, I was looking through my old RC Modeler and Model Airplane News magazines a few weeks ago and saw a picture of you at a pylon race in California. The late 60's and early 70's were fun days for RC. All the planes were scratch or kit built. Very few run of the mill ARF's. Construction articles in every magazine. I was always waiting at the drug store to buy the latest magazine since I couldn't put enoguh money together for a mail order subscription ! Steve Gibson

Who repairs old radios from the 60's & 70's ?
I collect old radios and have a couple of the Old Citizen-Ship DP - 4, four channel radios with the thick red anodized cases. I believe one is on 72 Mhz and the other is on 27 MHz. Can you recommend a person who can repair these old radios? I would love to fly a Falcon 56 with a Citizen-Ship transmitter. Do you use the old transmitters and new receivers and servos? Where do you get AM receivers that will work with the old radios? I also have Kraft, Orbit and Proline systems. Another prized possession is a complete PCS systems with the brownish anodized case. I assume the early Krafts are AM radios. When were FM systems first offered? Steve Gibson Houston, TX
