RE: Unofficial
Well, the stock coupler fit it without modification, so I reckon so :)

RE: Unofficial
This is my first foray into the rc boating world, so I can't comment on the torque requirements of the steering servo on a larger boat. The more torque the better in a jet boat though. I personally butchered one of my old drift cars for the steering servo, so I'm using a full size servo mounted horizontally on a block of foam shaped roughly to the hull to get the required height. Just hot glued the foam to the hull and servo to the foam.

And that motor bolted straight in, has a 3mm shaft which matches the stock coupler. Screw holes lined up, easy as.

RE: Unofficial
I think you'll find those motors too large for the stock pump. You want to limit your rpm to about 3800 from what I've read on here. I'm using this motor http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=8595 with a Seaking 35amp watercooled speedy, on 7.4v nimh (testing stage before switching to Lipos), at which point I'll be running 2s. Goes fast, good run times, just gotta finish it off and put it in some open water.

RE: Unofficial
I'm wondering if it's reving too hard and when in the water it's pulling the blades out of alignment and rubbing on something?

Ahh well, I'll just try and use some throttle control - yeah right! Been looking at http://www.cornwallmodelboats.co.uk/acatalog/graupner_jet.html and wondering what the biggest one is I can fit in the little yellow hull [8D]

Lol, that'd be awesome! Christmas, New Years and Australia Day all rolled into one big long celebration :D Yeah, they didn't have any for a while there, was painful waiting because I couldn't find one anywhere else either. They have a nifty 'notify' thing that emails you when they get some in stock. Got the email yesterday, ordered yesterday. Although now they need to clear the backlog etc, so I'm not expecting delivery until the week after next. With the 3s, will it let the smoke out, or just not go faster with more rpms? I'll get some 2s batteries on their way next time payday comes round :)

RE: Unofficial
Now that HobbyKing have some more stock after their new year celebrations, I've ordered a few things. Got the 2040 4800 watercooled motor and 35a watercooled brushless speedy (this wasn't from HK though, they're still on backorder there, found another on fleabay). Also saw their cheap as chips 2.4ghz wheel radio, so I threw one of them in the order just to see what it was like. May have made a slight error with the battery though - 11.1v 3s 20c. Should this have been a 2s 30c?

RE: Unofficial
That actually looks like it doesn't go too bad. I ran mine in the sink just to see if it worked when I pulled it out of the box. But that's it, it's now on the bench, gutted, awaiting transplant surgery, once I locate and obtain appropriate organs to make it live again.

RE: Unofficial
Starting to suffer from too much choice and information, so I'm just going to ask the question - is this an appropriate combo? http://cgi.ebay.com/Marine-3600Kv-Brushless-Motor-60A-ESC-C66U_W0QQitemZ370332354567QQcmdZViewItemQQptZRadio_Control_Parts_Accessories?hash=item5639874807 Shaft size aside obviously, it doesn't seem too difficult to turn the motor shaft down to size.

RE: Unofficial
To get a cool jet boat rooster tail, instead of having the outlet for your water cooler pointing straight out the back, you could angle it up. This is something I'll be looking to do. Mine should turn up today with any luck.

RE: Unofficial
Hi guys, I found your thread here after doing a search for rc jet boats as myself and a few mates are looking at getting into the boating side of RC. Been reading it as a guest over the past week or so and found it to be very informative indeed. What an awesome little platform for modification this boat is! So anyway, as we live in a coastal area, what's the go with running these in salt water? Is it a no-no? I'm inclined to think that flushing them with hot freshwater afterwards should be fine (hot water neutralises the salt). Also taking into consideration that we'll likely be using water-cooled motor/speedy combos. Cheers guys! Justin.
