RE: Top Flite Giant Corsair ARF Disappeared.
ORIGINAL: Chris Nicastro While the H9 Corsair looks very nice Im not interested in supporting any more over priced wood and ultrcoat covered ARF's. This TF Corsair was at the top of the range I would pay for a Chinese built ARF. I have several full composite warbirds to build that Ive collected over the years that I must turn my attention back to now. I think I read that the H9 Corsair accepts the same Robart retracts as the TF model. The TF flies fine and Im planning on tuning it up to be more stable in wind. The rudder and elevators will get some attention and Ill work from there. It is nervous in some wind and thats what I want to see if I can dampen out by taking away the free play in the rudder and elevators. Looking at the wing mounting set up it looks like its designed for positive G's more than negative G's. if you pull on the assembly in the fuse you see the flex easily. The wing saddle will distribute the loads so pushing on the assembly makes no difference. So I have to wonder if the reported mount failures were the result of flying inverted or negative G manouvers.
The Horizon people at Joe Nall said it used a Robart gear specially designed for H9 Corsair, they are painted white!

RE: loose pitts style muffler on dle55
Thanks for the info. The coils were put in by a pro so im sure they are metric. I did clean with alcohol. I don't think it is running hot since im running with the cowl off I have noticed that the coils are not as deep as the DLE threads. I may have to install new head. The brace is a good idea to try. RE: loose pitts style muffler on dle55
Well I tried the above solutions with the same results. Nord-lock washers and all .Three flights and the muffler was loose again. This muffler is made of alum. Does anyone know of a steel muffler made for this engine?

loose pitts style muffler on dle55
I can't keep the muffler tight on my DLE55 engine. I have tried blue thread lock, red thread lock, with and without mfg gasket, with and without high heat silicone all with the same results and I have replaced the threads with helix-coils. Does anyone have a fix?

RE: Top Flite Giant P47 arf IS coming
Just a word of advise to anyone equiping with DLE55 . Be sure that you get the right muffler. I got the standard J-tec muff. for DLE55 and it clears the firewall by about 1/8 inch. That is not enough. After about 100 flights cracks developed in muff. This was caused by contact with the firewall while running. Be sure that you get the muff designed for DLE55 AND!!! TF P47/P51

I like the way that you locked the muff. screws. I will try that on my TF giant scale P47. The muff keeps working loose.

Based on my experience with the VQ and what I've read about both, the VQ is the best. At least everything but the flaps is better.I put a seperate servo on each flap and it works great.

RE: JB Weld gasoline proof
I accidently drilled a hole in a unique size ARF twin tank. Finding a replacement tank is near impossible. I tried ZAP GOO on an old tank and it has been holding for about 10 days. Blowing on the pressure line has no effect. I will be far enough along on assembly soon and be able to test patch while the engine is running. Will advise results.

RE: KMP B-25 CONSTRUCTION.
It's a great flyer, but like any multi-engine aircraft, you need to have reliable engines. You will also need a good set of retracts. The ones supplied with the kit are weak.

RE: VQ P-61 CONTRUCTION
I think that the 91 4strokes should be fine. I used the same engines on a KMP B25 weighing about 19 lbs. I'm not sure of the weight of my p61 since I've just started assembly. I'm using the Spring Air retracts. I got it all as package deal from a guy that had lost interest. Let me know what you use and how you mount them. I'm not sure which props to use at this time SWORDSN
