RE: RC Surfer
Hey Jimi, Got into town yesterday... bumped into Dan already on the way home from work as he was shredding it up at stockies. But yeah the surf is looking alright, but my surfer is out of action at the moment as I gotta realign the shaft as it keeps jamming up. Might have to get the real board out. laters

RE: RC Surfer
Yeah you might be onto it Cananzi... Last one I just wrapped some tape around it, and thought that should keep the grease in, but obviously not. The shaft got so hot that the tape melted off and all the grease must of escaped then jammed up. Cant believe how fast it happens though.

RE: RC Surfer
Well I just gave my new battery packs a run and I was quite impressed with their peformance. My new packs are 2s, 20-30c discharge 5000mah, and noticed no real drop in power when compared to my 2s 30-40c 4000mah. I had a run time of about 18 minutes flat stick. Bad news is I jammed up another flexi shaft. Im guessing I might have damaged the shaft when taking it in and out when regreasing it, but im still scratching my head as this is the 4th one ive managed to jam up so far [&:]

RE: RC Surfer
Had an epic 2nd sesh this arvo, I went to a secret spot near city beach where the conditions were a bit better than the 1st run and pulled off some serious maneouveres. Some random guy came up and said that it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen. Cant wait till my new batteries arrive.

RE: RC Surfer
yeah it went pretty sweet, it was kinda choppy, and quite a bit of swell but I had plenty of power to get out to the back. Caught a few waves and did a few airs as well. just need to practise with the steering a bit.

RE: RC Surfer
Wooooooooooooooo!!!!! After 6 months of ongoing work and set backs I ran my 1st full pack without any breakdowns. I didnt have any problems with the new shaft after the 1st two jammed up, I just made sure it was completely greased up and rotated it as i inserted it- thanks Cananzi! There were a few drops of water that got in but nothing major. The only real problem was the lifeguard telling me off for having a "motorized toy" in the swimming area lol. I will now work on the centre of gravity so it doesnt bounce around as much.

RE: RC Surfer
Ok so ive gone through two prop shafts now, the ones that cananzi recommends, and cant seem to work out why they keep on jamming up on me. I think with the first one, I think I might have not put enough grease on, or the wrong type of grease, and it kinda just stripped itself and jammed up. But the second one i smothered with clipper oil. and it ran great for about 2 minutes in the swimming pool, until i started giving it a bit more stick, and then the flexi part just snapped off. Below is the shaft that I bought http://www.cornwallmodelboats.co.uk/acatalog/graupner-semi-flex-shafts.html Here are my theories 1.) wrong type of grease/oil 2.) wrong size prop- currently using 31mm 3.) too much power- currently using seaking 3060kv with 30-40c lipo I'll try attach some pics

RE: RC Surfer
Yo Dan, I'm guessing the steel rods glued in the hull were off centre to balance up the servo on the original setup, which was to one side. You will definately need some extra weight down there to help the board self right, when you wipeout, otherwise you'll be making regular rescue missions. Im currently in the process of figuring out were to put the extra weight at the moment as well, but its kinda tight down there, well in some areas. Prolly end up putting some weight where the original steels rods were, then balance it up but adding some weight in the battery compartment like Jimis. Head down to your local bunnings for the steel screws. Cheers Salty.

RE: RC Surfer
Hey, Im new to this rc surf dude thing, and I am pretty excited about it all. I have bought two surfers off the shelf so far (board sharks& bondi girl) and had all the usual problems, leaking, bad steering etc... so after having a browse through this forum, I decided to strip her down and start from scratch. Havent had much experence with rc but Im just gona wing it. So far I have bought a new motor Seaking 3660SL 3060kv boat motor and Seaking-60A Brushless ESC for Boat burst current 120A. and Hitec HS 311 Standard servo. Currently im trying to figure out which prop shaft, motor coupling, and prop to get to replace the venom Bondi surfer girl one. So has anyone got any suggestions/links for new parts? Can you buy them as a package? The shaft diameter on the motor is 5mm. Cheers, Skip P.S love all the photos and the footage
