RE: SPA Legal Airframe Needed
ORIGINAL: SprinklerTech The Compensator is legal. Why couldn't you put a 2 stroke on it...too much work to get it ready for this weekend? There is a response on the SPA Google site now. They have to release your post when you first post so it's on there now. Tim
I'm confused. Why could a 2-stroke not be put on the Compensator?

I need the rpms for a 1.60fx swinging an 18x6w apc
I am bench testing an engine that a friend of mine picked up at a local swap meet. It is an OS 1.60fx, and it is swinging an 18x6W apc at 8600rpm, on Omega 15%, with 3 oz extra castor added per gallon. I originally thought the engine needed a ring because the compression felt a little weak, and it refused to hand start. Once I put the starter to it, it came alive! So, is 8600rpm good for this prop/engine combo? The guy didn't pay but $35.00 for it, including a pitts muffler. I think he" done good!"[;)]

RE: Need needle assembly for OS #60A carb
I saw those on ebay. I need the entire assembly, not just the needle. I found one complete needle assembly on ebay, but the auction had ended.

High speed needle assembly for an OS #60A carb, from an OS 60FP . Broke mine yesterday. Any idea where I might find one?

RE: Moki 1.80 & 2.10 conversion to gas
Never mind, I found my answer. It is about as expensive to convert as it is to sell the glow, and buy a gasser. Thanks anyway guys.

Moki 1.80 & 2.10 conversion to gas
I have been on a mission lately to get rid of some of my fuel sucking glow engines and replace them with gas engines, then it hit me...why not convert some of them to gas. I have an OS 160fx, a Moki 1.80, and a Moki 2.10. How difficult and or expensive is it to convert these engines? I would be grateful if someone would point me towards the parts and instructions to convert these engines. Thanks in advance for any help.

RE: Saito 300 twin or CRRC 55 twin?
How does the CRRC 55 compare to a single cylinder 50cc engine, power wize? I love the price of the CRRC, but I must admit, the old saying,"You get what you pay for", keeps whispering in my ear.[X(]

Saito 300 twin or CRRC 55 twin?
Given a choice, which one would you guys rather have, and why. I have the Saito on a GP Giant Big Stick, and am considering swapping it for the CRRC gasser. What do you guys think?

I saw somewhere where there were problems with a particular brand of switch recently. I don't remember the brand, but I'll see if I can re-locate the article.

Had a similar accident here. Turned out to be a faulty on/off switch to the receiver.

It's not only the big planes/engines that will take a finger. I lost mine to a Saito 130...a small twin. I stumbled on a piece of plywood under my tuning table. Right hand, index finger, first joint....stupid hurts[:@]

RE: Has anyone tried the Dynam PBY Catalina?
The issue with rolling could be my fault. I instinctively give a little down elevator during the roll, and that may have caused the "fun". I probably was too heavy on the sticks. Next time out, I'll go easier on the elevator. I am very pleased with the plane, especially considering that it was only $159.00 rtf. Seems as though there are still some good deals out there.

RE: Has anyone tried the Dynam PBY Catalina?
Just got back from flying the PBY. If you are easy on the sticks on takeoff and landing, it is a great flyer. Just don't try and roll it. It will immediately snap on you, and proceed to do all manner of acrobatics that are sure to make you pucker.[X(] Luckily, it came home in one piece.

Has anyone tried the Dynam PBY Catalina?
I just took delivery of one yesterday. There is a lake within walking distance of my house, and I figured I would make use of it. It was only $159.00 rtf with a 2.4 radio and brushless motors, so I wasn't expecting much.....but it seems like it may turn out to be a nice little plane. I haven't flown it yet, and was wondering if anyone else had it, and had any tips to share. Thanks in advance.

RE: engine dying
Break-ins are tough on glow plugs, so I would still try a new one. There is no need to throw the fuel away. If new fuel fixes your problem, use the old fuel for break-ins. If it doesn't then you are eventualy going to need more fuel anyway. You could even "borrow" a tank of fuel from someone at the field, and maybe even a glowplug. At least you can mark that off your list of possible causes.

RE: engine dying
Could be many things. Start with the simplest first...glowplug?..How old is the fuel? A guy at our field had the same problem. A new jug of fuel cured it.
ORIGINAL: Kmot Now comes the real pain, the medical bills. [8|] Sorry to hear of your accident, and glad to hear it was not worse. I have only lost a portion of my thumb tip, and it was on an APC prop. Did you have an APC prop or some other super sharp composite propeller? It makes me wonder if the chop off accidents of the last decade would be less if we still used wood props.
It was a 3-blade 14x7P(pusher) Master Airscrew, spinning at WOT. There is a notch in all three blades, so ithit me at least 3 times[:@]

RE: You can call me stumpy
No, thankfully, I'm a southpaw. Had I been right-handed, they were planning to airlift me to a specialist for possible re-attachment. It didn't matter anyway because all of it could not be located. The section that was located, was in a neighbor's yard. From the way it looked, there were at least two, and possibly three pieces. It was a 3 blade prop, and all the blades had a notch missing, meaning that it hit me at least three times.
