RE: Evo-URV ultimate recovery boat
ORIGINAL: fatbill69 Wow, these are for sale! Only $250
according to the Evolution RC site, its $250 AU for the hull and hatch only, everything else is extra, at triple the cost for the whole boat.... still looks like an awesome design, especially after watching the vids... its great to see someone come out with a real viable rescue boat design and make it available to the hobbyist

RE: Top Secret Boat Parts
again thanks everyone (and Brandon) for info....I have ordered one of Brandon's (red) Super Cat-49 hulls...glad that there are more choices in gel coat color other than white, too...still planning on a custom paint job, but at least I won't worry about it for the time being.... mine's due to ship and arrive around 9/11 (lol of all days) and will post pictures of the hull once it does ;)

RE: Central NEW YORK boaters
Howdy folks, it's been a while... I have been trolling the thread since my last postings so Im up a little bit on current events but havent really had time to post let alone, run anything recently...I have to thank my dear old employers for that...working a daily rotating schedule for a long while doesnt leave me with much of a personal life, sad to say :( I pm'd prop circles earlier today asking for tips about a couple of hulls he has/had...the TSB Super Cat.... I despaired a bit when I finally went to purchase a hull and found out that TSB sold the business, I've just recently found the new vendor and will have one of these hulls soon to arrive, it will be my first gasser, adding to my small collection of hulls ;) now I need to find time and get running on the water somewhere, some day lol.... still searching for a place close to me here in Syracuse :P Brian

RE: Top Secret Boat Parts
I see that Bill answered the post, but for those that are also reading, the new owner has a shop set up in ebay, still selling em under the TSB moniker..... I myself have been wanting one of Bill's super cat hulls, but kept procrastinating and by the time i planned to, he sold the business :( I'm still hoping I can get my grubby hands on one of these awesome cat hulls...some day

RE: Central NEW YORK boaters
ORIGINAL: madmorgan im not trying to raise a stink but thats like the local biker clubs telling non bikers they cannot ride on the city streets because they arent in a "club" im calling ecpd see what they say i will post if i hear a yay or nay. trust me i dont want to ruin any of the 6 members of your club 6 weekends out of a year a chance to get together and run your boats on brick pond.
too bad that was as poor analogy here and the example isn't even close to being the same thing....you STILL need a permit or license AND insurance to ride on the city streets... you dont need to be in the Stoney Pond Model Boat club to run on the pond and such during their 'off times', just the IMPBA membership... joining the IMPBA is a small price to pay so that the pond or anywhere else 'allowed', you will be able to go play with your boats...It's no different from those of us that fly our rc planes and heli's and being a member of the AMA...most cities around the country have ordinances for stuff like this.... out in public, you have to cover your backside in case of an accident.... an accident can happen to you as much as anyone else, whether its an innocent bystander, a friend that may be with you, or yourself getting hurt...it only takes one accident with an ignorant and uncaring jerk involved to spoil it for everyone else and have that spot or any other in the local vicinity, closed down for good...

yep yep, I saw that he got this last summer, was around the time I decided I wanted one myself...sad though, so far no word from Bill G to say if he or new owner is or isn't making them anymore....

RE: Central NEW YORK boaters
wow looks like everyone's been keeping busy :) I've been wishing for better hours so I'd have a chance to get some boat running in...still only my 27" vee is running, havent gotten my 31" cat reassembled yet..neither are racers though...my TS2 and TS3 tunnels not even started on yet and both atm on the back burner... the only RC stuff I've been running was a few of my small and micro electric heli's, indoors.... I was planning to pick up one of those Top Secret Boats Gen 2 Super Cats before winter and never got the chance...now that I was looking to order one, I just found out this past week that Bill at TSB sold his business, and new owner is supposed to take over producing everything... It was sold months ago, and now the old TSB site is 'under construction". I hope the new owner does continue with everything, I REALLY REALLY want one of those hulls... I've pm'd Bill G inquiring about them but haven't heard anything yet [:(]

RE: Top Secret Boats?!?!?!?
after doing some research, his last known post in 3 boating forums i subscribe to was back in march, but he has been logging in up to the beginning of last month... I've been able to find out that Bill has sold the business to someone he knows, and was helping out moving the shop since the building was also being sold by the owner as well....he also said that he'll still be part of the business, helping out with the management end, as he doesn't want to see TSB dissappearing, the new owner is supposed to take over, still making everything,... no mention about making the Super Cat hulls, which I still want one for myself lol... i've seen/found no word about who the new owner is and all that yet...

RE: Top Secret Boats?!?!?!?
the 'other' forum where I saw it was actually his post.....Bill mentioned he took a new job in aerospace manufacturing 3 months ago and was selling the business, but was going to continue making/selling stuff until it is sold...he has a bunch of stuff up in Ebay and I've sent him a PM through there inquiring about the hulls... he may not have posted since december, but he had last logged on, may 8th...

Top Secret Boats?!?!?!?
I've been out of it for a while, with my change of hours at work and stuff....hell, I just picked up my TC31 hull, that was painted and ready for pick up in december lol... I was on another 'site' and just found out that Bill at Top Secret Boats is selling the business!!!! I'm a little bummed out considering last summer I decided I wanted to build a gas cat and chose his for the project...unfortunately, I haven't been able to order the hull yet, and was just looking online to do just that. that's when I noticed his site as "under construction"...then I logged into the other forums I subscribe to and saw his post 3 months ago.... Bill, congrats on the new job, bud... but, are you getting totally out of the business (saw ad for your machineshop business), or are you going to keep your molds and continue making those super cat hulls? I still would very much like to pick one of these up if they are still available...

RE: Aquacraft Super-Vee 27 Nitro.
one of the things that does happen when running your boat...you will get water coming up along the flex shaft, through the stuffing tube too...you want to keep that flex shaft greased well...each person has their own choice when to regrease...I prefer to regrease it every 6 or 7 runs, regardless which boat I'm running...it helps keeping it nice and lubed up, prevents premature breaking, and slows the amount of water coming up through the tube as well...another thing I like using in my boats, and there are quite a few others here too, replacing the water plug that comes with the boat and installing an autobailer or two....another tool that helps keep the amount of water down inside your boat when running it... you are correct, it is a good thing having foam/pool noodles glued to the inside of your hull and a pc. glued to the hatch as well, it helps so you don't lose either if it overturns or takes on a ton of water...keeps them from sinking... ...rc boating is about tweaking the settings, trying to get the best out of your hull and motor...take your time...it'll take a few tankfuls before your hull starts to come alive...keep checking all your fuel and water lines...make sure all fasteners are tight and not working loose....it's all about having FUN with it. I'm hoping that with my work hrs, besides flying one of my rc planes or heli's once in a while, that i'll see some decent weather on a day off where I can take out one of my boats for a few runs every now and then.....hmm..there's always that gas powered 'cat' that i want to work on too...never enough time in the day...

RE: Thunder Cat 31
welcome back Asmund, and Erolos, good luck and dont give up...the tc31 is a fun boat to play around with :) I know a few were looking around for a different carb to run on the dynamite as well, and Asmund was using a different one than what others have tried....an ASP .91 carb if I recall...

RE: Thunder Cat 31
there's also a gent called asmund a ways back in this thread that used an ASP .91 aero carb and worked great....but most that replied in the thread for carb replacement used a Supre Tiger carb from tower hobbies, were posted early on, boosting their boats a few mph over stock

RE: Thunder Cat 31
thats ok bud...there's plenty of peeps in here, and some that are not too far from you...most are willing to help a person out...we've all been there too, starting out, not knowing...but that's in any aspect of all RC hobbies...there is a learning curve...the more you do pick up, the easier it gets..and there'll always be something else to learn...you are right, rc boating isnt as popular, but it is, no less fun than the others...................i do fly RC helicopters (my personal favorite) and planes, both which i have quite a few of.... i drive rc cars as well, and own 5 boats, the TC31 is one of em and a TSB supercat is next for my project boat list.......i own nitro's and electrics for each type.......

RE: Aquacraft Super-Vee 27 Nitro.
aye right from the factory, the teflon sleeve is in 2 pcs...center of stuffing tube is a bit bare, you can go ahead and replace it with a full length one but really not neccesary unless yours are torn up........ atm no updates of my SV27, been working long hrs since my schedule change, no longer have any days off during weekend :( atm have wednesdays n thursdays off, usually doing errands...now that the days are getting shorter again, even trying to run mine afterwork has been hopeless, unless on the bench, which ive only been able to do once just for the hell of it.... Gotta luv the smell of nitro :)

RE: Aquacraft Super-Vee 27 Nitro.
i'd go with the Hughey....top of the line, better construction...you pay a little more but its worth it....you'll be glad you did. ive ordered from ose in massachusetts a few times for my boats....they have good customer support, and fast efficient shipping. usually recieve my stuff within 3 or 4 days ground service, which was sent out next working day after your order if its in stock...(being you're in CNY too, it should be just as quick)
