RE: So, you want to go big huh??? How about 1/3rd!???
there does come a point in which these things get too big. I think 5th scale is about perfect. Big enough to have fun with / use a gas engine / see it when its wayyyyyyyyyy down the road and when your all done you can still put it in your trunk or back seat and go home.

tune it till it runs good with plenty of smoke. temp ranges dont mean much on the 3.3. You can tun it run in range and it will run like crap or it can run decent.

RE: Why are tyres so expensive?
i run stock hpi wheels and tires normally just for this reason. Most of the other brand wheels and tires are retardly over priced. i can get real car tires cheaper so i know it isint the cost of rubber that makes the rc pirces so high. On e bay you can normally get the stocker hpi tires for 20 $ or so for a rear ser and the fronts are normally a bit cheaper.

RE: 4WD vs 2WD
ORIGINAL: Cronniss Ok, other than the obvious (one drives 4 wheels, the other drives 2 wheels)... What is the difference between a 4WD R/C vehicle and a 2WD? Do both have benefits over the other? (Are there things that the 2WD does better than the 4WD and vice versa?) Is there a definite speed difference between the two (since power is used to drive both sets of wheels instead of one)? Uhm...I guess that's it for now.
generally the 4wd has the advantages over a 2wd. A 2wd tends to have less parts so its a bit lighter and a bit less maintance but thats really about for the benefits. A 4wd has the advantages in just about every catagory
ORIGINAL: Liger of Awesome OK do you know how to waterproof it?
you cant really water proof an rc you can make them more resistan to damage from water but its still gonnaget where its not suposed to be and cause issues. You can seal the esc and motor to keep them from being damaged but water will still get into bearings and cause rust same with diffs and just about any other nook or crevice in the vehicle.

RE: clear red paint safe for PC for yokomos13 tails??
even if they are laquer based you still want one made for polycarbonate. they are more flexable and bond to the plastic better. standard candy or clear spraypaints at most normal stores / walmart / lowes / homedepot are not made for this and they will crack and flake off as the body flexes. check out flaskcolorz and tamiya they make body paints as well

i think its more of a braggin / selling point the more features they can cram into an esc. Honestly ive had a few and other then basic set up and lipo / nimh settings i really never mess with the other settings. Throttle curve? my finger controls that. Punch settings? agian the finger controls that I just learn to control the car and really never use any of the other settings.

hpi / tamiya / yokomo all make good drift vehicles 190 and 200 mm refer to the body width drift tires are generally made of a hard plastic. for drifting a lot of power isint nessary or even really wanted. a decent brushed or a mild brushless set up and your good to go.
ORIGINAL: proanti1 The only bearings I clean (and keep clean) are ceramics, because they're expensive. The normal ones I just replace when they get overly gritty. I used to pop the seals and attempt to clean/regrease them, but they almost seem to immediately get dirty again.
i use to do the same when i had metal sheilded ones but now i just run the rubber sheilded ones and rairly have any contamination issues. if i geta really gritty one ill run it till the replacement comes in the mail then i just tooss the old one.

RE: How do YOU take care of you're gearbox
ORIGINAL: dlobmwm3 Check out this stuff! Someone recommended this and they have used it for 6 years on all their rc trannys that have metal gears. This stuff has worked amazingly well and highly recommend it. https://store.rc4wd.com/mobile/Monster- ... p_520.html Straight up grease is not a good choice as its very thick and put more stress on trannys. Oil it self is to wet and slings off and runs down the hull , and needs very frequent re lubing. This monster lub is the best of both worlds! Once u try u will be hooked!
i dont think grease would have much drag effect on trannys that have as much gear reduction as these do and i dont stress if any would be enough to even concider. ive always just used the tamiya cera grease. not the cheapest but it lasts and dosent have any negative efects on any thing as far as i can tell.

RE: Essentials upgrades for Baja 5b SS ?!?!
for the air cleaner i left mine stock ive run through a ton of nasty stuff and even in a lot of really fine dirt. Stuff that kicks up easy and hangs in the air and i have never had the stock filter set up fail so ive seen no need to change it. as for the pull start filter if you go to wal mart they have a filter materal used for the out side of window AC units. its gray and comes in a bag and is normally 3 or 4 bucks it works perfect The holes are small enough to trap most grass and dirt but plenty big to let lots of air through and you get a 3 foot by 3 foot section in every bag. That will make a ton of filters and you can easily cut it to make it fit perfectly and look really nice.

Rx / Tx. Reciver battery and a throttle / brake servo is all that needed if i rember right also a nice filter over the pull start does help keep crap out of the engine and cooling head. these things suck up crap like a vacume cleaner.

if your esc is able to handle 3 cells then any of those batterys will work. the c rating is how much current the battery can supply on demand.

RE: New to nitro
ORIGINAL: BlindFire Hi im new to the forum and i just got a tmaxx. I have had rc cars before but im new to the nitro and i got a couple of questions. first is the exhaust i always thought that 2 stroke engines had pipes to provide back presure and a silencer for noise like on a dirt bike but the exhaust on my tmaxx is just hollow? second is the after run oil i read that you unscrew the plug and drop it in the chamber but the bottle says to put it in the carb?
the hollow pipes are formed in such a way that they produce whats called a pluggin pressure wave. Well the good ones any way. they are suposed to be hollow. as for after run i put some in the carb and in the glow plug hole. Just use to use a quick shot of WD40 in both move the carb linkage a few times then flip the car over put a rag over the glow plug hole spin the engine over a few times / put the glow plug back in and done.
