need tips on covering
I started covering my LT-40. First time useing plastic coverings. At the corners I keep getting wrinkles and at the rib areas. I pull it as tight as I can to get the wrinkles out before shrinking but I keep getting them. Trashed a whole role of coating. Need some tips before I waste another one. Please HELP!

RE: Kit bashing
I think you could put a large brushless ele or .10 nitro in the cowl of the 600 series planes, 27.5" wingspan and micro radio system. At least the Zero or thunderbolt.

RE: Glass with epoxy or CA?
Should I tape off to the left and right to get a nice stright line or will the covering hide any over spread because you will see the top of the wing? Never used plastic covering befor so I don't know how well it hides inperfections.

RE: Glass with epoxy or CA?
Yes it says to flow thin CA over the 1 inch wide strip of fabric that goes over the joint where the left wing and right wing meet.

Glass with epoxy or CA?
I have my SIG LT-40 all built. All I have to do is apply the glass to the center of the wing. I am out of Thin CA. Can I use a 45min. epoxy instead? I dont fell like buying more thin CA just to do that and be left with an open container that will just clog and go in the trash. I have other CA for the remainong things that I will need to glue.

RE: OV-10 Bronco - Decals?
If you have pics of the decals micro-mart makes water slide decale paper in clear and white that works in ink-jet printers. You need to request a mail order catologe though because it is not listed on line. (At least I couldn't find it on their site)If your decale has white in it you need the white paper because printers don't print white. They are not fuel proof so you will need to put a coat of clear over the decale. Print a small decale first to test compatability with the clear and the ink from your printer. Some printers use a wax base ink that my run. (Cannon printers) They come with instructions and about $4.00 per sheet last time I bought them. Good hunting

RE: Kit Building Forum Activity
kit building is better all around. You can be sure it is put together right glued right and you learn about how a box of stix all works together to form a working model.

Kit bashing
I like to take kits and modify things. I was wondering if anyone ever took a guillows 400, 1000, or 2000 series kit and made it electric or glow rc with min of 4 channel or knows of someone doing that? Any thoughts on subject?

RE: Why do people like building tugs?
I like tugs because you can pack allot of detail and working features in them. The neatest one I saw that an acquaintance built had a detailed pilot house with a pilot and working wheel, lights inside and out and deck hands. It ran on a motorcycle battery and was scratch built. Took him months. I’m building the sterling Liberty ship now (56" hull) and I'm going to need a tug to go with it.

RE: Painting vs. Monokoting??
Hobby poxy made a filler for wood that was like thinned out wall spackel.it was like a gritty glue. They don't make it anymore that I know of but you painted it on thick, sanded it (sanded easy to)then primed and painted. It made the wood hard as a rock and filled all the grain to the poimt that it made it look like it was metal or plastic. Maybe someone knows of something like it?

RE: PC to TV hookup
I gess your pc input is a vga input? Most of those cables are 10 feet or shorter. As for s-vid I don't know of any over 16 feet. There is the wireless option but be prepared to open your wallet. Swaping video cards is not an open case swap and your set type thing either. Get a good laptop (used or new) that has a good vid card than you can hook it up to the tv when you want. You can take it to the feild to warm up too before flying I have a loptop just for music and saved vids hooked up to my home audio/ vidio system. never moves. All computers can be linked via wireless network. Most routers let 4 wired computers and up to 50 laptops. My kids computer has a giant hardrive that I use to back up or ghost my personal laptop that I use. It has a ATI 9700 128 meg vid card and the reealflight works great. I would get a laptop to hook up to the tv or a desktop with a wireless key board. Desktop might be cheeper but not portable.

RE: CA glue can spoil this hobby!
I like the ca gel glue and elmers wood or white glue depending what I am glueing. If you test fit all your parts for a tight fit very little glue is needed. I often will use both elmers wood and ca if glueing a sheet down. I put the ca at points to hold the part in place and use the wood glue to glue the rest. This way the ca acts as a clamp or weight while the wood glue dries.

RE: elevator is thinner than stab!
maybe you could get a 1/32 sheet of balsa and laminate it on top and bottom then sand to the correct thickness. I think midwest has balsa that thin.

Removable stab.?
I have a storage issue for my plane I am building. My basement gets damp and my detached grage has no temp or humidity control. I have a large enough closet for the wing and the fusalage as long as the stab. can be removed. I am builbing the SIG LT-40. any suggestions on how I could make the stab. removable or should I store the wing in the dry closet and the fuse. hanging from the basement rafters with the stab. glued in place? Thanks, Joe

RE: Wheelchair guy wants to get into RC Flying
Though I would post some pics on my LT-40 progress. I have the right wing to build yet. This kit is a really nice kit when it comes to ease of building. I've built allmosy every guillows scale rubber band powered freeflight kits and they are rough kits. The parts do not fit as well and require alot of reshaping. The sig kit practicaly falls together. I like the pics of insanemoondoggie's plane. Like the checkerboard trim. Thanks all, Wow, 3 ospreys just flew over low. The windows in the house we rattlin! Joe

I am looking for a fuel proof olive drab paint but haven't been able to locate any. Could I use a floquil olive drab and a coat or two of matte clear lustercoat? Floquil is model railroad paint and uses thinner. Thanks

RE: Wife Critically Ill
I'm sorry to hear about your wife's battle with cancer. I was in the ICU for a month due to a spianl cord injury and understand how hard it is to be there. I had alot of support from my family and friend who made the time there bearable. While being there one is allways concerned with your own self's health. Only after leaving the hospital 6 months later did I realize how diffucult I was for my family. Stay strong when near her because that will help to to focus onn what see needs to do and we will keep your wife and family in our prayers. Hope she will be home with you soon.

RE: Wheelchair guy wants to get into RC Flying
That hobby store in tropper is a nice store. They are helpfull there and have alot of rc stuff. The feild in VF park is right off rt202. You don't need to be a member to fly there just need your AMA card. Should stop by whene in the area. There is also a feild in coatsville (chester county RC club 192) and Gilbertsville also has a club too but I forget their name. All 3 are about a hour from each other. If you google rc clus pa you will find all 3. As for the eleavator they sent me a new one and it is streight. I'll try to straighten the other one though for a extra. Thanks Joe
