RE: Larger Revolver
Hi all My local DLE distributor has a note on his website that recent DLE ignitions are now rated at 8 volts. See the link , scroll down to the end. http://www.dlenginesaustralia.com/dlshop/dl-engine-faq.html BC

RE: Larger Revolver
Hi There is another forum Flying GiXXXX that has a long thread about a guy who built and flew a 30 cc 73 inch Goldwing - DLE 30. He flies a reasonable amount of 3D. Read the story in the build thread about his experiences. In particular , why it is now in the workshop. Search for 30cc 73" MX2 Build Thread, that should find it. Shuttle

Hi TNT Landing Gear now make aluminium landing gear for the Revolver 70. The shape , including the curve is a perfect match. After drilling the holes and a spray can of white paint it looks identical. Shuttle

Hi all, Hard landing the other day. I have reinforced the fuse floor so no damage there. The composite landing is showing cracks on the gell coat. Anyone seen this? Is there a replacement as most stores are zero stock for the Great Planes one. Shuttle.

RE: Do you use FrSky Modules and Receivers?
Hi I use the JR version of the plug in module for my transmitter as well as the receivers , 8 channel, in my elec glider , glow LA racer and my gasser. Quite a few guys in the local club use them and so far they have been perfect. One member even bought the 2.4 basic module, installed it in his radio with a switch. One position 2.4 and the other position 36MHz. There are a number of gasser pilots that use them. Always use 5 cell nimh battery. Glider pilots use them as well. The receivers from hobbyking are 20 dollars which is amazing. I have crashed one plane with a FR sky receiver , my fault, so Instead of risking the receiver ( 20 dollars ) I binned it. Failsafe and binding are easy. The transmit module has a low power button for a range test. Shuttle

RE: Larger Revolver
Hi Flew mine yesterday as well. One or two other club members are now looking to buy one with a DLE20. As an aside , when you said : "I continue to be impressed with the versatility of this airframe. I was out flying this afternoon (yes, back in time to take my wife to dinner ), and was pleasantly amazed at her performance" Which her are you referring to ? Shuttle.

Hi Muffler insert , got mine here : http://dlenginesaustralia.com/dlshop/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=514 Don't know about performance , have not flown without one. Probably does reduce WOT power but seems to be of little consequence with the Revolver. Someone else might have flown with and without ? Anyone ? Shutttle

RE: Larger Revolver
Hi All Six more flghts on mine today. Light breeze down the grass strip. Awesome morning. It has been raining non stop all week here and the field was very wet , puddles everywhere. I have replaced the sheet metal screws on the canopy with bolts and captive nuts and added an extra one on top and the underneath. The DLE20 vibration caused the canopy to vibrate and elongated the sheet metal screw holes in the fibreglass. The canopy is quite long and there is little support top and bottom. I have the standard DLE20 muffler with the blue insert and everyone comments on how effective the insert is in reducing noise. I will arrange a noise test and post the results. It seems well balanced , a little nose heavy so I will try the 45 degree upline test next week. Shuttle

RE: Seagull Spacewalker II 120 Arf
Hi I had a similar problem with a new DLE 20. It seems that the fuel pump needs to be wet to work and draw fuel. The solution ( from some long term gasser pilots was to take the plug out and put a few drops of fuel in the cylinder. Then rock the prop back and forward a few times. The put the plug back in , choke on , flip until it coughs , choke off and it started. BC

Hi All, For those with a DLE20 installed, a question. How do you get to the mesh filter on the carb to clean it ? It seems as though the engine needs to be removed. Shuttle

RE: Larger Revolver
Hi All A question or two for those with a DLE 20 engine. Have you kept the supplied fuel tank or changed it for a smaller one to save weight ? Has anyone measured the fuel consumption with DLE 20? The only reference I can find to fuel consumption is a little less than 0.7 oz per minute. I am trying to decide if it is worthwhile installing a smaller tank. Shuttle.

RE: Larger Revolver
Hi Prop is a 16 x 8. I will try a 15 x10 tomorrow , more ground clearance. The local gasser pilots suggested it. They fly DLE and DA engines. Engine tune was very close , low needle needed to be a touch leaner for a good transition. Did not really try much vertical today. By a touch I mean half the thickness of a fly wing. Speed was good , but I did take it easy on the throttle for the first flights. Landings were easy , there was a headwind. I have read the "hot and fast landing" posts but it seems to float in. Faster than a trainer, but not a lot different to other models. Balance seems spot on. Mine is. 2-3 mm forward of the recommended spot , without fuel. Issues ? Initial start , as I said. It needed a little fuel in the spark plug hole to start fuel flow. After that starting was.easy , a few flicks. I have the DLE muffler add on fitted to reduce noise. Seems to work and takes the bark out of the exhaust. Aileron and elevator seemed "soft" , i will work on that by reducing expo and a marginal increase in throws. All up , awesome model. Not sure if it is a good choice for a second model after trainer. Just my opinion. It is big and powerful. Shuttle.

RE: Larger Revolver
Hi All Maiden flight today for mine. Finished it a while back but weather ,work etc got in the way. Engine is a DLE 20 , standard servo locations in the centre with dual elevator servos. Given how much fuel the DLE engines uses, it will take sometime work through 5 litres for breakin. Great model and flies well. I found the controls a bit "soft" , possibly because I have too much expo. Everyone was impressed. I did notice the delay to idle but no great drama with it. Initial start was a challenge as the engine was bone dry of fuel. Ended up putting a little in the cylinder to get fuel flow started. This was hint from two long term gasser pilots who dabble in IMAC. If the weather holds , back to the field tomorrow, and the next day. Has anyone here flown the smaller version as an electric ? Shuttle.

RE: Larger Revolver
Hi All My build is finished , now I need some decent weather for a maiden. Given the low pressure systems at the moment it could be a while. Engine is DLE20 , standard muffler with the extra noise baffle that plugs in the end. You can just see it in the last photo at the end of the muffler. The blue anodised bit. Two batteries and two switches. Sullivan tail wheel. Pilot figure by my daughter. BC
