RE: Help identify a few planes
#7 Johnny Cashburn's Lucky fly, three sizes of these, can't remember what spans were but do remember what fantastic flyers they were, I had all three at one time.

RE: change bearings in OSFX91
Well into the first flight engine quit running. I could hear rod tapping. Pulled it off and can see bronze from bottom bushing slung around inside of the crankcase and now lots of up and down play between pin and rod. Have to decide now wheather its worth repairing.

I can see movement up and down and feel a bump when turning it. It is my sons engine and he wants to try it this week end to see how bad it is. Time will tell, probably very short time! Thanks, Floyd

RE: change bearings in OSFX91
Well I had no problem putting the rod back on. Now I feel play in bottom bushing on rod. Will try it next week end a see how it does. While the bearings were stained kinda red (I think from the fuel) they felt good turning them in my hand but may not at higher speed. Thanks for your suggestions. Floyd

RE: change bearings in OSFX91
I tapped the crankshaft down tight with a wooden dowel, it was already down then got a stiff piece of wire with a bend on the end and was able to pull the rod off the pin. I have replaced bearings in a lot of motors and never had this problem befor. Now the trick will be to get it back on the pin after changing the bearings. Thanks for your in put

RE: change bearings in OSFX91
Its not to tight on the crank its just not enough clearance between the rod and the rear of the crank case to get it off.

Go with the aircraft plywood, (not lite ply) it is much stronger than a single thickness of hardwood the same size.

RE: idle speed
Look at the throttle plate, if it's like most small gas engines there is a hole in it. It will run with this hole even tho the plate is fully closed. You can solder it up if you want to.

I need help finding the supplier or manufacturer of a wing/fuse ceiling mounted rack, it would hold 2 to 4 wings or fuses, was adjustable in height to about 24, was padded on the double crossbars with foam and looked like an inverted “T . I think I saw them advertised here on RCU a while back but may have been elsewhere. Any help will be greatly appreciated, Thank you, Floyd

RE: Identify this plane please.
I flew it today for several flights, each one better than the last. Even had it standing still in the wind just like my old tried and true Kadet SR. First afternoon that some minor problem didn't crop up as it will from time to time. I rate it on a par with the SR that I have and maybe will upgrade that after I fly it a little more. Sure is nice!!Your plane sure is nice. I will try again to upload pictures but they haven't fixed my cable line yet so they probably won't go out. Hooray they wentout!!!!

RE: Identify this plane please.
The nose gear was to short on the upper end and kept pulling out , so I changed to a steerable tail wheel pull pull system. Larger mains and new tail wheel assemble equaled out, balances just right. It always amazes me just how little bit of weight at the tail can require much more at the front to balance. Having trouble with internet connection, pictures later.

RE: Identify this plane please.
Hey fellows. I’ll try to show you what trees and grass look like in South Georgia, nice but requires lot of work on some bodies part. Got my plane, back been working on it this afternoon, hope to fly it again tomorrow. Lucky it hit the tree, while repairing it this afternoon I found I had not glued in the hinges on one aileron. Would have just been a matter of time before they pulled out and probably crashed. If I get the pictures downloaded the tree in the middle near the center pavilion is the plane grabber. All the others have been removed, picture is about a year old. Grass has improved since then also.. John my tank is sitting on a kit built shelf, I didn’t build the model so can’t swear its original but sure looks like it. I always replace tank, lines and all on old planes like this, but I favor Sullivan or Dubro tanks and the two line hook up unless the engines are cowled in. Checked everything this afternoon and still think I just leaned it a little to much. Maybe I’ll find out tomorrow if it gets to the field to try again. Rain predicted, wouldn’t mind missing it if it would wet things good. Can’t thank you men enough for your info on this model , I appreciate it a lot. Now for the pictures of our field(maybe)

Got it balanced today, all I lack is the receiver now and It'll be good to go. A few pictures to see how it looks now compared to the before pictures earlier. I wish now I had made it a bolt on wing before I recovered it, but didn't think of it until I saw yours John. Goldy the cat is my helper.

RE: Identify this plane please.
Interesting thoughts, the model I have has a hatch in front that looks like it was factory cut to go there. A factory tank shelf is installed. Who ever built it did an excelent job on this plane, not a ARF.The tank rolls out real easy and the hatch is held on with a tab in front and one screw in the back. I didn't get to work on it today but maybe tomorrow. It is finished except for installing a Spectrum 2.4 receiver, mounting the motor and making sure of the CG. I am looking forward to flying it sometime in the next few weeks. Have to decide whether to buy a new Rx or pull one out of one of my other models, which I hate to do. I hope it will fly as well as my Kadet Srs and my Flying King which I finished recently and flew a few times. I will post some pictures when I get it done. By the way John does the anhedral (?) effect the flying? Floyd

I decided to recover and do some repairs and install a 61 2 stroke on the Aero Star 60 that several identified for me. Does anyone know where the plans called for the CG to be. I know that on the spar or just behind will be ok but just wanted to be sure. Thanks

RE: Identify this plane please.
Thanks to all of you. I'll call it an Aero Star 60. Very sturdy plane, It is old buy I plan to use it as our club trainer. It now has an old LEO 46 engine and the previous owner claims it is a real good flyer on this motor and not so fast that you get in trouble.
