RE: Desert Jet Storm 2013 and Beyond
That is horrible news. This really is a great event, and it would be terrible if this got cancelled. Keep us posted Chris! Chad

RE: Adjusting Evo jet 160 Engine
Chris, Sometimes INCREASING the time will actually decrease the spool up time. If you have it set too fast, the engine will automatically try to retard the throttle and end up increasing your spool time. I can tell you here in Vegas we typically run 5 or 6 seconds, and nothing else out here spools as fast as our engine. Which engine do you have?? You can also raise your idle RPM by 3000-5000, this will increase residual thrust only slightly, but also reduce your spool up time. Chad

RE: Distance from pipe to turbine
Here is a good "general" rule of thumb.... Take the diameter of the exhaust cone, and the diameter of the thrust tube. The difference between them is a great staring point. Chad

No problem using the board from the 10X, in the 12x. They are IDENTICAL. After having swapped out over 500 packs, I can telly you they are completely interchangeable. Chad

RE: TINTING AN ULTRA FLASH CANOPY?
Spray tints = not good result. Just look at the all black canopy of the splash. Spray did not adhere well, and got blotchy. Talk to Dan Avilla reference tinting. He did his bandit (yellow). Looks good! Chad

RE: Ultra Flash vs Classic Flash
John, We've done plenty of tests with real radar guns head on (not from the side and getting erred, erroniously high numbers due to the Cosine Efect http://www.copradar.com/preview/chapt2/ch2d1.html) I believe you received readings of 275, we're just saying they weren't correct with the engine stated. The classic flash is a great bird, one of the best. The new UF takes it to the next level. For the price difference, wait for the Ultra. Chad

RE: Evo Turbine - What Battery Chargers?
LIFE is the same as A123. The battery that came with your engines is Lithium Manganese, and is charged like an Lipo.

RE: Evo Turbine - What Battery Chargers?
Lipo setting is the perfect answer. A lot of people have switched to the a 4 cell A123 like DoubleD. The new engines come with a 4 cell 2000Mah LIFE pack, so they get charged the same as an A123. Thanks to those that chimed in. Chad

RE: evojet 160 vx
Whoops, my fault. Your nut IS NOT LOOSE. DO NOT TRY TO TIGHTEN. It may just be the o-ring of the starter slipping on the nut. No big deal. Send the video when you can. Chad

RE: evojet 160 vx
Chris, If you got the plane from Rex, you got a great plane, built by a real master. Please, send the video. At first "guess", it me be the rubber o-ring slipping on the compressor nut....not a big deal. Welcome to the family. Chad

RE: evojet 160 vx
Chris, No stupid questions.....The "Cool Down" usually stops at 100c. If you could take a video of the noise and email it to me, it would better help me to analyze what you are talking about. Does the motor start ok? Does it run ok? Does it only make the noise on cool down? If so, does it only make the noise when the stater engages the compressor? Also, when did you buy your engine? Did you buy it used? Thanks. Chad

RE: Evojet 140vx??
Hahaha, yes, we have a new 140Vx, putting out 32 pounds of thrust, at only 120k rpm's! It is the same size/weight of a 160, so unless the price is a factor, the 160 is a great value. All I can say at this point is the 220ish size motor is still in design/testing, but will not be released until it meets the standards of the factory. I HOPE it is this year. Arno does not release anything until it performs as it should. How many engines do you need :) Chad

RE: Retract Game Changer
Buy cheap, buy twice (or three times) I don't know why some people have such a hard time learning this lesson in this hobby. Constantly in search of bargain basement prices for critical pieces of equipment. Even people that have personally been bitten by this issue don't seem to learn. granted, maybe gear is not a "critical" item, but I know Todd's gear does what it is supposed to do, even when I don't on a landing. I don't mind paying higher prices for equipment that has been shown to last. Look around at jet rally's. What are people flying, what are people having problems with. Answers alot of questions for me. Chad

RE: Eneloop Batteries - Charging
ORIGINAL: Tom Antlfinger I suspect that life shortening may be the result of false peaking/overcharge, rather than simply the higher charge rate itself. Tom
I agree Tom, this may be the cause. With my CellPro multi4, 300 seems to produce the best charge without the packs over-heating.

I strongly urge anyone charging eneloops NOT to go over 500mah, preferably 300mah. You WILL shorten their lifespan if you do. Thanks. Chad

RE: Gyro on taileron/elevon/delta?
Raf, You can not get a better (or more expensive) gyro than the Fuzzy Pro SMM Jet. A search on the Fuzzy Pro will reveal the same. There are less expensive alternatives, but this really is the best out there. Check my site for more info, or shoot me a call. Chad

RE: EvoJet 180Vx Highest Power to Weight Ratio in class??
Meshari, If you just changed the rpm, the ECU has to re-learn the engine. The ECU is constantly learning, so any changes made will have to be learned. Also, you may not have had it in the FUN position long enough :) Chad
