RE: A123 cell charging
Be careful when choosing a balancer. A lipo balancer will not work properly, as the cut off voltage is too high. Most chargers work by DRAWING power from the high cell. The reason I use (and sell) the FMA Cell Pro is it PUSHES power to the low cell, AND it actually charges each cell individually through the balancing connector. I'm sure there are other decent chargers out there, this is just what I use. Chad

RE: A123 cell charging
That's pretty much the beginning of A123's for hobby use. If it's not a balancing charger, you may want to get one. While it isn't as important as it is with lipo's, and they won't burst in to flames, it does extend the life of the batter and let you get the most mah out of your batteries. Good luck! Chad

RE: Bandit ARF CG w/P-80 & large hopper?
The large hopper on a 180.....WOW, that's a lot of fuel (read as weight). It will pull it, but you really don't need the large hopper with the 180. I would get 10 minutes plus with a 160SX and the large hopper. I would ditch that large hopper and put the small one in. The BARFS are VERY nose heavy in the stock CG position. When I asked this same question about a year ago, the consensus was to balance it with the hopper about 1/2 way full. Get rid of the large hopper......just a higher wing loading and you don't need the extra fuel. Chad

RE: 160 or 180+ on SM 1/6 F-16?
Some really good feedback here! Sounds like if you are going to do the 160, you should probably scrap the large upper tank and substitute a small header tank. Also sounds like you'll be at 1/2 to full throttle most of the time. If you do the 180+ route, you can carry more stores at the cost of more weight, but more power for the pull-out should you need it....... Thanks for all the input! Chad

RE: 160 or 180+ on SM 1/6 F-16?
ORIGINAL: JetsRC Here is a video of the one we had here, powered by a Jet Central Rhino flying with all fuel tanks full plus smoke tanks plus full ordnance. The jet had lights, afterburner and all the goodies and it flew great on a 36lbs engine with a lot of fuel to spare. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ux_tnSdMgU Another video of the same jet without the missiles and external tanks... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TyJWtoaBv3Q Michel
Sweet videos! That thing looks great! Seemed to fly great, although it did sound like the engine was up there for most of the flight. What was the flight time? Great vids!

160 or 180+ on SM 1/6 F-16?
I am thinking about getting a SM 1/6 F-16. I have seen them fly (well) on both a 160 and a 180+. I know fo rthe 160, they are not using the top fuel tank. My question is; use a 160 and keep it light, or drop in a big block and enjoy the power?? Thanks for your help. Chad

RE: Why buy an evoJet Booster?
Bill, Thanks for the contact. An evoJet 180 will be available by the end of this year. I am expecting a couple to be in my hands my the the end of November. In terms of "future projects", I can only comment about what I know is being assembled right now, and that is the new 180. Like you, I too hope there is an even bigger version of this great motor in the works. Feel free to let me know if you have any other questions. Chad

RE: Curious, what is the draw to the
They are really a lot of fun. I mean really, you can throw it in your trunk, pull it out and toss it in the air.....jet powered foamy (or small composite aircraft). For me, the engineering marvel behind them is the most amazing part. I know you THINK they are small, but until you hold one in your hand and feel just how light and small they are, it is really hard to comprehend. They are not for everyone, but for the person that has done and seen it all, they are a nice addition. Yes, they are expensive. Frankly, it actually costs more to produce a small turbine than it does a large one. The tolerances are even closer and more crucial. Fly one Jeremy, you just might like it. Now quit bashing them!! RE: Fallen Wingman Tribute
Awesome tribute Dave. I'm sure most people realize this, but for those that don't, that Mountain Dew helicopter is actually a scale heli that Mark Alpine built and painted. To see it in person is really unbelievable. Enjoy every minute guys.......toy airplanes (and helicopters)......nothing more. It's the friendships that make it worthwhile. Chad

RE: *** SIN CITY JETS '09 November 5-8 ***
We received some sponsor packages today......all I can say is WOW!! BVM and Smart-Fly have REALLY stepped up to the plate with their donations. Along with BVM's awesome line of jet accessories that every modeler could use, they also sent along a VERY BIG TICKET item. So, since this is a pilot's rally, put on by pilots, for pilots, this item will not be auctioned off, and we will not sell raffle tickets for this item. Here's how this item is going to be awarded: For every flight a pilot completes, they will receive a flight ticket. Those flight tickets will be combined together and a single winner will be drawn Saturday night. Basically, the more you fly, the more flight tickets you will receive, the better your chances of winning. The jet rally starts Thursday, so get there early to earn more tickets! We would really like to thank BVM and Smart-Fly for being so generous with their donations to support this event. THANK YOU Bob Violett and Bob Ritchey. We look forward to seeing everyone in a few days. If you love Vegas, you've got a great excuse to come. Take care and travel safe. Chad

RE: *** SIN CITY JETS '09 November 5-8 ***
Well, we are just a little over a week away. I know there has been a lot of drama lately here on RCU. I know some inappropriate comments have been made and that some people have been offended. I am hoping that people will be able to look past this, move on, and come enjoy the fall Vegas weather. I can assure you, there will be NO DRAMA at this event. This is the third year we have thrown this party, and everyone is invited. Please support this event, as we have tried our best to do all year. I am looking forward to seeing everyone here. Take care and travel safe! Chad
