Commander 50 for sport flying
What would you think about buying one of [link=http://www.airborne-models.com/html/productdetails.asp?ProductID=158]these[/link] as a sport flyer and something to generally improve your precision skills? I'll never compete in pattern but have been told that pattern planes are purpose built and fly better than anything else.

RE: DuBro Vibration Mount
ORIGINAL: OldRookie I just got done installing my mount, and I lubricated the rubber parts before installation. I figured it certainly can't hurt. I used the YS after run oil. I am installing a YS 140L on the DuBro mount, in a Dave Patrick Ultimate. I had purchased a Hyde mount initially for this set up, but the motor flopped around too much to make it useable with a cowl on the plane. I would have to remove a lot of cowl to give the motor clearance to move. I ran two tanks of fuel through the YS 140L on a hard mount on my test stand, and nothing loosened up. I mounted the engine on the Hyde mount, and within 1/2 tank the exhaust header was loose, and it also caused the engine to run slightly lean when the engine movement was at its maximum. At low speed it was only moving about 1/16'', but at 3/4 throttle it was moving about 3/4'' total. FOR SALE...One Hyde Mount HCMCMIII Type C MKIII Firm Idle Greg
Too late now, but is a cowl ring available for this mount? This would keep your gyrations within reason.

RE: DuBro Vibration Mount
I mounted an OS 91FX using these mounts many moons ago. I used Sig castor oil as lube and otherwise followed the directions. I had the engine solid mounted prior to using the Dubro mount. Everything is subjective, but I thought the plane was quieter with the Dubro and didn't shake as much on the ground. Plane long ago met it's demise. Still have the mounts, though.....:)

RE: CellPro 10S Charging
ORIGINAL: MX240 I didn't find any balance/charge mode in the menu? I think I just paid for a charger that can only charge through the balance wires....great
Afraid so. The 10S can charge through the balance leads only, or through the balance leads and power leads when both are connected, but not through the power leads only. Balance leads must be connected for the charger to recognize the battery.

I've gone over to YouTube and reviewed all the RCU videos about Toledo 2012. Lots of good info, but where is the link to those videos here on the site? Seems like there should be an announcement or something.....?

RE: Whats happened to Monocoat ?
The last two times I've used black Monocote, I had to nearly burn a hole in it with my heat gun to get it to shrink. Disappointing since it used to be great when it was called Super Monokote. Can't speak for the rest of the colors.

If it's been sitting for three years, you might want to cycle the battery a few times and check the capacity. Or just buy a new one.....

RE: Stiffer Gimbal Springs
Just a heads-up that complications can arise. I replaced the springs in my 9303 with the Radio South springs and eventually the stiffer springs pulled the spring retaining pin clean out of the gimbal. Mind you, this was after a couple years of use, but you don't know the meaning of excitement until the elevator stick flops straight down and doesn't return to center! Luckily for me, it happened on the ground. I sent the tx in to Horizon and they replaced the gimbal and refitted JR springs but did warn me that the aftermarket springs would void any warranty. Might not be a problem on an 11X, but just FYI.....

RE: Morris hobby su koi do Profile 40
I put my tank on the nose. Plane balanced fine with the servos in the stock positions. Keep an eye on the fuse right behind the canopy. Weak in that area and will break if your landings are a little.....er, harsh. I still miss mine. Finally just wore it out and it was looking like a banana since I repaired that fuse area so often. Awesome flat spins!
ORIGINAL: cuwaert I think ZDZ are fine engines, I had a 50ng and hoped to purchase a 40RE during 8 months without success. No problems with the product but with the girls and guys that somehow have to suppy/ manufacture/support them. Those who are lucky to call on a sudden uprise of their energy get serviced overwelmingly and the rest stays sitting on their tries. Maybe they are already rich enough.
Uh, what?

RE: g62 vibration after electronic conversion?
ORIGINAL: tkg All singles vibrate its the law. An engine designer can chose where the engine vibrates. The G-62 has 2 nodes one about 18-1900 rpm and a smaller one around 33-3600 rpm. Smooth at higher settings
Good info. So Pe's 1100 RPM idle must be pretty smooth?

RE: Magnum 180 loose needles,,
I had a Magnum 30 many moons ago that had the same problem. Cut a small piece of fuel tubing and slip over the needle, covering the joint between the needle and the boss it screws into. You don't need the detent at all then. This works great for the high speed. Can't help you with the low speed.

RE: Laser Cut Kits
ORIGINAL: Al Stein Almost off topic If you're wild about precision alignment and haven't built on a wing jig, I just want to tell you that I owned one for years and only first tried it when I was about to sell it to get it out of my shop space and I've never gone back to my pre-jigging ways since. Alignement's guaranteed and building's about the speed as you can do with CA ('cause the jig holds it all in place so there's no need to wait for drying time), but there's no fumes and the structure's better looking after it's all dry.
Does anybody even sell a wing jig anymore?

I've got the same plane with an RCIgnitions G-62 in it. Engine weighs 4#11oz all up, no prop. Had to put the elevator servos in the tail (there are mounts for them already installed). Also had to move my batteries back behind the wing tube a few inches. Flies great.

I have the yellow one in my Honda. It's been a good battery. I understood that the blue one was a "marine" battery better suited for deep discharge. I'd use the blue one for a field battery.

RE: Low Voltage - A123's
Unless the Cirrus charger does A123, it probably thought it was a 5 cell Ni** battery and discharged it down to what it thought was around 1.1 volts per cell. Don't know why the Multi 4 complained. A123's can be discharged to 2 volts per cell and still have a long life. I don't take mine that far because I would be deadsticking all the time. This is with an electric power pack.
