RE: giant extra 330l kit build
No problems with the cg. As you can see from the pics i put 2 LIFE batteries just behind the canopy. I made the bracket as heavy as i could. I also put a servo in the tail for the rudder. When inverted i only need a very little touch of down elevator. I like it a bit om the tailheavy side, but for tid plane it's ok:-)

RE: giant extra 330l kit build
Too much to do at work last days, but I finally got the time to take some pictures.. No baffling on this one, because I live i Norway - no need :-) Plenty of space for air to com out under the cowling, though. Took som pictures all round, but if there is a specific area just ask and I`ll take more photos[;)] If I was to build a second kit i would build wing keeping bolts to fasten inside the fuselage, like on most ARFs today. I don`t like the screws through the wing and into the wingtube.

RE: giant extra 330l kit build
Thank you! Will post some video later. Had a cameraman with me last time, but he couldn`t hold the camera still[X(] I actually like this plane better than any of my ARF`s. It handles wind extremely well, and I enjoy flying some good old aerobatics. Been a little too much of the hysterical 3D lately[X(]

Got three flights last evening. This plane gets better and better. Have a three-blade Biela 24X10 on a Zenoah 80 twin - think that prop is a bit too big. Will try 24X8 or 24X10 two-blade. What a plane[:D]

RE: giant extra 330l kit build
Balancing was a bit tricky, think the manual says 6 7/16" from the leading edge. I found that a bit heavy in the front. Upgraded with some new hardware and will balance again- this time a little bit further back.

RE: Glassing 1st Warbird, thin epoxy or not?
ORIGINAL: speedracerntrixie
ORIGINAL: wyowindworks This was just recently discussed in this RCU thread: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_10750986/tm.htm What is an epoxy finishing resin? BTW, I think that most people feel the need to the thin their resin because they are using poor resins. Quality laminating resins need no thinning to easily saturate fabric. Adam
I would agree here. The method I use is to use quality resin, mixed correctly and cured at a temp above 65 degrees. Once the cloth is wetted out I blot the excess resin out with a paper towel. After 24 hours I have a surface that requires little sanding and mostly just the overlaps. Once smoothed out with 150 grit, I wipe on another thin coat of resin, just enough to get the gloss back. This fills in any weave that needs it and is lighter then using primer as primers contain clay. Once happy with the surface it is off to primer. The pictured airplane was my last project glassed and painted this way.
What a finish! Awsome looking plane. What plane is that?

Awesome, Chad! Love the looks of that plane. Nice scheme too.. Hopefully i`ll get started on mine late winter/spring (have to build a hobby room in my garage first). As Dgrant is saying, i think i will have a hard time selling it. As for engine, i`ll definately go for a twin due to vibrations. I want this bird to last!

RE: which country had the best fighter planes of WWII
ORIGINAL: cloudancer03 the voter results suggest usa but I dont recall a jet fighter capable of the performance of the ME-262.Had they used it a year earlier the germans might have made the war last alot longer.no doubt about the P47 or P51's but german planes were likely better engineered.they simply ran out of experienced pilots unlike the us.
And most of the voters are from the US[;)] I think more Europeans here and the poll would have ended up voting on Germany. Objectively, even though the Germans made a mess here. My family is strongly influenced by the war, and even I do not like some of the old Germans. When i was in the cavalry i was standing guard at a military base in the north of Norway in 1992. A car drove up to the gate and a man and his wife came out. He told me he was a German soldier here during the war. He was interesting so we talked for a while, and he told me about his stay i Norway during the war. When he left, he said to his wife something like; All dies können Unsere hätte sein. "All this could have been ours". but still one has to admire the Germans for their skills in engineering. I see it in everything they construct and build. For the Germans 1mm is 1mm, and not 0,999 or 1,001. It is 1,00mm. That is how they built their planes also. Interesting discussion, by the way.

I`ve searhed for it for a long time, and finally an ad on rcuniverse got me one. All though i fly both wood and composite, i think this one stands out on the field and it is beautiful in the air[:)] By searching the net i found out that there is a hobbyshop in Greece that has a kit. But if the mountain can`t come to Moses.... They were not keen on shipping to say the least.

RE: Are today's Kero-start turbines better than propane start?
A jet pilot was about to fly his f-16 at a local airshow a few weeks ago. The crowd was excited to see this big SM f-16, but unfortunately he got an ignitor failure. Another time a pilot said his starter battery had too low voltage as the engine would not start. I am not into jet yet, but so far it seems that propane start is more reliable?

"Ok, I gotta ask, what is the story behind that 1/3? scale f-86?" The plane flew at "La fertè allais". The guy who built it lives in a small apartment and the fuselage is built in three pieces. La Ferte is an annual happening, and a DVD is produced each year, i think. Just google it, and you`re occupied for hours[;)]

Why MK II wings? I also have a Eurosport which needs an engine, and have been told that the "only option" is a Merlin 160. But i have seen a couple with 120 - engines and i think they fly pretty nice as well - from grass also. Got pics?
