Nice work damfurst! How long was the run time using the 11.1v 1300mah 40c?
ORIGINAL: damfurst
ORIGINAL: SkR8Pn whats the dimensions of the bearing your using for the mod? Thanks
I'm using a 10mmX3mmX4mm all stainless steel. Boca Bearing is where I got it from part # MR103-zz. You can buy a package of 10 of them for $9.95. I take a piece of 1/8" brass tubing and sand down the outside of it to make a bushing that will fit the 3mm hole

whats the dimensions of the bearing your using for the mod? Thanks
ORIGINAL: damfurst Started a new build of a tear into this week. Doing it for the son of a friend of mine. Thought I'd share as progress is made some of the pics. So far I've gutted it, installed flotation foam (2part stuff) in bow, done the bearing mod to front of drive, greased impeller shaft with Gorilla Snawt, and done the water pickup in the stator.
ORIGINAL: Scubaru Steve where are you guys getting screws for your motors? i cant find any narrow enough to squeeze past the jet drive, at the local hobby stores all they have are button head and wont go in straight.any suggestions? id rather not file them down.
I use M3 metric socket head cap screws which wil have a smaller od than the button heads. :)
ORIGINAL: sundogz That motor is most suitable for 2S (32560 unloaded rpms). I'm running the 2900kv version on 3S (32190 unloaded rpms) in mine and it has plenty of spunk.
Thanks Sundogz, After a handful of different motors on 3S the 4400kv has been great. Doesnt get hot and gets real good run time on 2200mah/40c 3S although anything after 3/4 throttle is noise. Id like to drop some weight out of the rig. I figured 2S (2200mah/20c) would be a good start as its roughly 70g lighter than the 3S im using. I'm worried that i'll turn it into a yacht on 2S :)

Hi guys, I need to grab new lipos and Im wondering if this motor would run better on 2s rather than 3s? Or will it seem really slow on 2s compared to 3s? Thanks
ORIGINAL: llDemonll Haha, electronics are still hard for me as well Yes, etokyopops setup was on the 3700 2040 flight motor with a 1300'mah 3s 20c turnigy battery and turnigy 35a marine esc. I have the same setup but 3200 walker motor and we both get about the same run times, mine may be a tad longer (1 min maybe). I honestly can't estimate how log te run times are, time in real life and time driving these boats are two separate measures...lol. Its nothing disapponting though, definitely doesn't feel too short when you are out there driving.
haha, if i'm lucky i'll understand it.... I found a 60a watercooled esc and from reading this thread and help should be ok also, a EZrun 2040 3600kv that i hope will work. Its pretty warm here now so lets hope i dont smoke anything whilst running haha. Where do you get the 29MM jet drive that Big2 is running? What motors and lipo's will max out that jet drive. For me its something to look forward to....

RE: Unofficial
Thanks Demon & Sundogs.. Demon you might be able answer this Q too: Was etokyopop's setup 3700kv "eflight", 35a turnigy esc running on 11.1v? How long of run time do u get with this setup? Reason i'm asking is i only just noticed the run times on the setup's are pretty short. Im sorry about all the Q's but the electrics of this messes with my head. If i can run a setup the same or similar to etokyopops on 11.1v and not kill it im good to go. Plus the less modding to start off with the better till i get a handle on this.... not to mention i'm probably making it worse for myself....lol Thanks again guys

RE: Unofficial
Cheers Demon, I really dont know much about brushless motors and boats period but i'm willing to learn as im very keen to get into jetboats mainly tear into's. After reading the whole thread last night i found it hard to actually know what was the fastest and most reliable setup to use @ 11.1v with just a motor and esc mod. Just as i thought i found the setup that was good a few pages after, smoke and problems would arrise. I guess in a nutshell, i'm aiming for the quickest and reliable set up to run in the boat @11.1v Then once i read a lot more and have a better understanding of the whole jet boat i'll move onto a bigger jetdrive, motor and batts. Seeing in vids how Sundogs, etokoyo, nomobux run @ 11.1v i would be happy to start with this performance and handling. Thanks

Thanks fella's, Sundogs: i'll grab the motor you mentioned and will make the coupler. What material do you guys use over there for the coupler? Stainless, brass or alloy? Where would i find the Alloy cooling jacket? I did a quick search over here but found nothing. Thanks for the help guys its appreciated.
ORIGINAL: sundogz Skr8pn, that should work fine. I would use a large can motor (28mm) like [link=http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=11173]this one[/link]. You'll have to search for a coupler or have one made. I had [link=http://www.rcraceboat.com/]Jeff Wohlt[/link] make some up for me. He put three screws evenly spaced around both ends so I could '

RE: Unofficial
Hi all, just read through 64 pages and my eyes are killing me....lol These boats are awesome and i wished i had come across them sooner! I'm a little confused as there are a few different setups to choose from. I really want to build something similar to Big22Bird's but feel i should start with something a bit more tame as this is my first boat. So i take it this would be good to start with: 3200kv outrunner 35a esc servo (i'm thinking Traxxas 2080) or something similar tube and nipples for cooling esc I have 11.1V 1500mah 25c lipo's already and hope they will do the job. Please feel free to add to this if i have left anything out. Thanks.
