RE: FUTABA 18MZ HAS ARRIVED
Have you recently purchased, or are you about to purchase an 18MZ? Do you have a 14MZ, 12Z or 12FG to sell? Would you like to increase the resell value of your 14MZ, 12Z or 12FG? If so, check out the Futaba Certified Pre-Owned program! http://www.futaba-rc.com/fcpo/index.html

RE: FUTABA 18MZ HAS ARRIVED
Quick instructions: Download the files. Unzip the files. You should now have a folder titled Update and an instructional .pdf. In the folder are four files. Be sure you have unzipped the folder and it's contents. Put your 18MZ's SD card in your computers card reader and open it. If you see a folder titled Update on the SD card, delete it. Drag the Update folder from your computer to the SD card. Once the copy is complete, open the Update folder on the SD card to assure you have four files in it. Eject the SD card from your computer and remove it from the card reader. Place the card in your 18MZ and move the little update switch to the update position. Power up the 18MZ and follow the on screen instructions. Once complete, power down, and move the switch back to the normal position. Your update is complete. Steve

RE: 8FG Super receivers
The 8FG will actually work with all Futaba FASST receivers except the new R7008SB that is only for the 18MZ at this time. It is always safest to stick with genuine Futaba FASST equipment. Steve

RE: Futaba has been busy lately.....
ORIGINAL: asca Does any body knows if the new 8JA is capable to control more than 8 channels with the S-Bus port? And if the S-bus is being used, the regular channels port will also delivering 8 channels?
The 8J is an eight channel radio both on the S.Bus and PWM sides. Yes the PWM outputs are still active even when using S.Bus. Steve

RealFlight 6 Free Update B
The latest free update for RealFlight 6 is now available. This new release includes the Gaui 330X-S Quad Flyer. This little quad is ball to fly. The NavGuide gadget has also been updated to allow you to select various parameters to be displayed. You can also resize the NavGuide to a larger size, this is really handy if you are using a projector to fly RealFlight with. As is normal, there are also a few little “fixes and things like that included in the update. To update your RealFlight 6, just open your RealFlight’s Launcher, click Additional Options and select Update. RealFlight 6 will automatically search for new updates and download them for you. http://www.realflight.com/free_updates/index.html Steve

RE: Transmitter Case and fit with 8FG- 12FG
This is a promotional case, not a custom Futaba case made specifically for the 12FG. To use this case (and most other radio cases) insert the handle first and you'll find the radio fits in the case almost perfectly. It offers great protection in a nice looking aluminum case. Steve

RE: Spektrum vs. Futaba?
ORIGINAL: BGCombs You know, if any poster on here were at the 2011 Joe Nall, they would realize that there were ''Smokin Holes'' as a result of both Futaba and Spektrum/JR brands. In fact, one of the days I was there, there was a Futaba guided warbird that mysteriously ended up in a pile behind vendor's row. There was also a Futaba induced jet that fireballed off the end of the main runway, while there were Spektrum splashes and crashes on the main, 3D, and float flying areas. It isn't perfect technoloy when both brands cannot function in a heavy 2.4 RF enviroment. It appears both have pros and con's. It would appear that on here, the Futaba bunch feels it's more important to tout their brand with put downs and brand stroking. Likely they are the same pilots who never crash due to pilot error. As for me, I'm going flying..... Suposedly that is why we are all here?
The two incidents you relate where both thoroughly investigated. Both were proven to not be related to radio failure. RE: Futaba 10CG
ORIGINAL: JollyPopper Some Futaba 10CG radios are designated airplane and some are designated helicopter. Are there any differences in the radios other than a ratchet (or lack of) on the throttle stick?
No, overall they are the same. In addition to the ratchet, the momentary switch is on the right side of the radio in the heli version. Steve

Nick Maxwell Joins Team Thunder Tiger America
Team Thunder Tiger America is proud to announce that Nick Maxwell has become its newest helicopter team member. Nick joins an already impressive roster of today’s finest pilots, including Todd Bennett, Gary Wright, Jim Stark and more, to demonstrate the capabilities of Thunder Tiger machines throughout the world. Nick’s R/C piloting credentials stretch back to 1993, when he began flying airplanes at the age of four. Six years later he tried R/C helicopters — and now, still in his early 20s, Nick has a long list of personal and professional accomplishments to his credit. Prior to focusing his interests on precision R/C helicopters and 3D heli aerobatics, Nick was an active competitor in R/C pylon racing. From there he expanded his piloting résumé with a continuing string of formidable performances at heli events worldwide, including: • 2010 3D Masters Champion • 2-Time World Cup Heli Champion • 2011 F3C World Team Member • 2-Time IRCHA Night Fly Champion • 4-Time E-Fest Smackdown Winner • Vegas Cup Champion • 3-Time XFC Podium Finisher Nick has flown professionally for four years and been a member of Team Futaba since 2004. In addition, he has presented several 3D heli clinics, given international flying demonstrations, and supplied several well-known heli manufacturers with expert product testing. Congratulations to Nick on joining Team Thunder Tiger!

RE: Spektrum DX18
Programming speed and flexibility are major reasons for the touchscreen. The screen responds instantly and you do not have to scroll through various menus to get to want to work with. You simply touch it. The screen works perfectly in bright sunlight. The battery provides 8+ hours of run time. Sorry not trying to hijack the thread, just trying to put out accurate information. Steve
ORIGINAL: Colin_Mc
ORIGINAL: MX240 Still no touch screen. Man, they love that darn roller dial
I fail to see what positives other than the bling factor what a touchscreen can achieve over traditional input methods? Negatives I see are higher cost, weight, power consumption and the ability to read the screen under direct sunlight.
RE: UMX Hyper Taxi BNF
ORIGINAL: Raycamaro I watched the Hyper Taxi fly at the iHobby Show in Chicago today. It's pretty neat. The pilot ran it into the net a few times on purpose and it quickly recovered and continued to fly. He also parked the nose against the ceiling a few times. I have a Great Plains VFO I never assembled that I'll be putting on ebay now.
The nice thing about the VFO is that it does not require a bunch of extra electronics (3-axis gyros) to fly properly and very well. It will also fly outdoors in moderate wind as well as inside. Why pay more when you already have the best? Steve

Changing from Mode A to Mode B is one of the most common things new users of the R7008SB receiver; that ships with the 18MZ will want to do. This allows you to start using the S.Bus port found on the receiver. This short video will show you how to make this simple change. http://youtu.be/iDqLrvf6Il4 Steve

RE: Why Futaba does not offer BNF?????
FTR (Futaba Transmitter Ready) is not locked into one type of aircraft or vehicle, or a particular price point. It can be whatever the manufacturer desires it to be, from very simple surface vehicles to much more complicated aircraft. Duratrax has already produced a couple of vehicles that are FTR. While these currently come with a transmitter they can still be linked to a Futaba system like the 4PL. http://www.duratrax.com/vehicles/electric/dtxd37-evader-brushless/index.html http://www.duratrax.com/vehicles/electric/dtxd36-vwbug/index.html Needless to say, there are a lot of products in the works that will take advantage of FTR.
