RE: ucando 46
I've been flying a UCD 46 for 6-7 years on an OS 91 four-stroke and a 14x4 prop- a great combination. Your 61 should be a good match - just don't fly it full throttle unless you're climbing. The airframe will come apart at high speed (full throttle) in a horizontal or down-line.

Lazy Bee 48" wing - engine question
I picked up a partially built kit this weekend - a Clancy Lazy Bee with the 48" wing. The gentleman previously building it has done a good job, just got to finish the nose of the fuselage and the tail feathers. Any body flying one this size on nitro care to share what engine you prefer?

RE: Funfly biplane?
I have the GP Skybolt ARF and the GP Reactor bipe. Both are powered by OS 91 four strokes. Both are fun to fly, but the Reactor is even easier to fly than the Skybolt.

RE: GAMA Swap meet Perry GA
I agree, it seemed to be a buyer's market, but I sold almost everything and ended up buying a NIB Great Planes DR 1 and some other stuff I really needed. Met some really nice folks and renewed some old friendships. As always, I can't wait 'til next year. I thought the GAMA folks did another outstanding job of hosting.

Dynaflite SE 5a vs. BUSA Dr. 1
Hi all, I am just finishing the build on my Dynaflite SE 5a (ready to cover) and have thoroughly enjoyed the kit. I've been following the BUSA Dr. 1 build in this forum and wondered if some of you folks could tell me how the two kits compare in terms of build difficulty. I'd like to do a Dr. 1 one day, but I don't want to jump into something that is too difficult to complete and enjoy. Thanks for your input.

RE: Perry Meet 09
I will be bringing a Global Fokker D VII, H9 p-40, 54" quaker with OS .15 la, and a Twinstar, along with some other odds and ends. I am hoping gas prices stay down 'til time for the show. At least that might help a little bit to free up a few $$.

RE: Dallaire Sportster questions
Dave and Tim; I built a Dallaire Sportster from a Penn Valley Hobby kit last summer, and built it with the full 9" of dihedral under each wing tip. Powered with an OS 70 four-stroke, it is a wonderful flying machine. With the dihedral as called for in the plans, it floats forever after the engine run. I can't imagine doing anything that would cause me to need more time in the sky

RE: UCANDO 3D 46.. What Four Stroke for it?
I've been flying a 91 Surpass in my U-Can-Do for almost three years - with a 14X4 prop it is absolutely the most fun-to fly airplane I have ever owned. Performance is anything you could ever desire, just watch your downlines with high throttle settings, the airframe might not withstand the stress.

Dallaire Sportster 108 " question
I am nearing completion of a Dallaire kit with the 108" wing. When I checked the location of the dowels in the fuselage for the rubber bands to hold the wing, the rubber band must be enormous to stretch that far! Much larger than a standard number 64. What size rubber bands are you using for wing attachment? It's been a great build, but I am at a complete loss about this, not having built an old timer this size before. Thanks for your help, I am ready for final assembly and covering - I just need to know about the wing attachment.

RE: OS .32 MUSTANG!!
Yes, it is true. The .32 SX is discontinued. If you want one, I suggest looking on that auction site. They show up NIB and lightly used all the time. I've not run one myself, but I have been told the Thunder Tiger .32 (maybe it's a .36? Somebody correct me please) is a good performer in this size too.

RE: What's the best prop to break in my OS55AX?
That prop will be fine for break in. When you mount it try something like an APC 13x4. This engine is a tourqer, and doesn't mind a big prop. I have run as much as a Zinger 14x4 wide blade on mine using 15%. Even a .46FX could turn a 12.25x3.75, so don't worry about overloading the .55 during break in.

RE: Great Planes U-Can-Do 3D ARF - 46
I am flying a U-Can -Do 46 with a OS 91 four stroke and a 14X4 prop. Most fun I've had flying a plane! Just watch your speed on the down lines and this plane will do almost anything.

RE: Four Star 60 Engine and Prop Size
I flew a 4 Star 60 for several years with an OS 91 FX - it was a great match-up. Based on your criteria, I would go with the larger 2 stroke. You will enjoy the extra power and it won't overstress the airframe.

RE: Spectrum DS821 Servo
I like the DS821s. I'm using them on a .60 size profile and haven't had any trouble. They aren't lightning fast, but they are plenty strong and the resolution is great. They are the only digital servos I've ever used, so there are likely better ones avilable but I keep buying mine new off ebay and I'm getting them for about $20 each, shipped.

RE: M.E.N. Buzzard Bombshell - how old is this kit?
Dan, thanks - in 1963 I was around, but not quite old enough to be building and flyin' rc!! I thought I remembered reading RCM in high school (1969-72), but I just wasn't sure.

M.E.N. Buzzard Bombshell - how old is this kit?
I recently acquired a M.E.N. Buzzard Bombshell kit, but I am not sure how old this kit really is. The kit came with an ad for RCM subscription which listed RCM as starting their 13th year - but I am not sure when RCM started. I'm guessing the kit dates from the late 70's. Does anyone know how old this kit really is and how it flies? I have an already built Bombshell which flies great, but this one uses slightly different construction from the one I have.

RE: Quaker 54
I ordered a Quaker 54 two weeks ago and have been following your build. This is my first old timer build. The wood and the plans are both great. I have the fuselage, tail feathers and wing ready for sanding before final assembly and covering. It has been a fun kit to build. I also ordered the Dallaire and can''t wait to start the build on it, but there''s a lot of wood in the Dallaire box.

RE: Swap meet old timers
Finally got a chance to fly without wind - both planes flew great, but I think I like the buzzard bombshell best. Long flights, great flight times - just enjoyable in every aspect of the flight.

Swap meet old timers
I traded for a couple of old timers in serious need of some TLC at the Perry swap meet. Now after a little re-covering, general maintenance, installing radio and engines both are RTF. The Buzzard Bombshell is powered by an OS 40 surpass and the Playboy has an OS 15 la. I'm just waiting for the wind to die down so I can try them out. Photos are attached.

We're bringing a few combat planes, a new Midwest Bf 109 ( 40 size - built and covered), a 4 star 60 with servos, Futaba rx and battery, a GP Tiger Moth, a Lanier SSC 109, a few boxes of new items from a hobby shop that closed (props, spinners, tanks, wheels, etc.) plus some other stuff. We'll be in the McGill building, tables D-26 and 27.

RE: U Can Do 60 size with YS 120
Not if your're careful with throttle management. Only use full throttle in vertical manuevers - never in horizontal flight or descending flight. The tail feathers won't take it.
