Boeing/NASA X48-C first flight
Yesterday Boeing/NASA X48-C mades it's first flight. This experiamental flight platform is to test possibilities for futher civil aircraft development. This XB47-C is a improved development of the XB47-B and it's power plant is changed to 2x AMT Netherlands Titan engines. As AMT Netherlands has work closely togather with the Boeing project group some improvements are done to help Boeing on this project, In the coming months more tests flight are scheduled. RE: JetCat Startmotor Specs
Hi, Depends on the type of ECU. The V2 can handle over 20Amps cont. and 100A for 100ms. So that's not the issue. A 280 will be burn if you do not keep the current limited. The ECU will give max. power to the starter.

RE: wiring of AMT CTF button
Yes guys, @Xantos: The ECU for engine NL2313 is an older V2 version (HW 2.10 and SW Vx28D1) . This version it was only possible to have a single channel mode if the fail safe pulse width was at the low side of the pulse width window. So lower the 1ms. If you program it wrong, so 2ms is emer. stop and 1ms is running at 100% throttle, the ECU falls into fail safe mode. Simple trick is to reverse your throttle channel in your transmitter. Please always test direction and positions with a servo. We found a repair sheet in our administration of 04-11-2005. On this sheet I found that the starter was repaired and that Bennie has tested on 18-11-2005. For readers of this tread: In the version from higher the HW 2.12 and SW Vx29 this is fixed. Due to hardware change the older ECU can't have a software update but always please mail use to get a clear answer. @ Craig: 1. If this Kavan filter has the same mesh width as Festo it should not be a problem 2. This because the all particals will stick in the filter and not suct into the pump Al other question already answered.

RE: wiring of AMT CTF button
Hi, I am wondering if all works. Please give me the engine number so we can also see was't happing with this engine/ECU. Perhaps fully unnecessary but please keep in mind the failsave comments in the manual. Previous ECU software could only handle one channel operation if input seq. was from emer. stop - auto stop - running - throttle 0% - throttle 100% which match with a pulse length of 1ms to 2ms. If it's in the opposite direction a toggling beep (high and low pitch) could be heart after programming the ECU. I hope this will help.

RE: wiring of AMT CTF button
Here the wiring diagram of the switch. Switch can be a (moment) toggle or push button type If you want to go to single channel control please connect a JR lead to the futaba lead (white=orange, red=red, black=braun) and connect this to the switch input lead of the ECU. Programming 1. Push CTF switch so it short circuit the white and black lead 2. Switch on the ECU. Beeps from high pitch to low pitch 3. Release CTF switch 4. Place transmitter OPS switch in emer. stop position. This can be a switch or trim input on your transmitter. 5. Push CTH so ECU will beep once 6. Place transmitter OPS switch in auto stop position 7. Push CTH so ECU will beep once 8. Place transmitter OPS switch in run position 9. Push CTH so ECU will beep once 10. Place Trottle in 0% (idle) position 11. Push CTH so ECU will beep once 12. Place throttle in 100% (max.) position 13. Push CTH so ECU will beep once 14. ECU will initialize and test if programming is correct. Low, mid and high pitch beeps must be given by the ECU if OPS (operatings switch) is moved or throttle stick is moved.

RE: Help! couldnt get my AMT 280 started today
Hi guys, This is the answer on the EGT probe. If the ECU is calibrated during start-up phase the EGT sensing can be set to monitor during running phase or not. Normally for RC it is set to the value that a disconnection of the EGT probe is accepted. This to avoid dead-stick landing due a incorrect EGT value. After the turbine is cooled down, after flight, the EGT is needed for starting the turbine again. Also RPM sensing can be set so it is not needed for flight. In this case the control uses time slopes for throttle up and down. For a customer we now implemented (software version Vx30G) that if the RPM sensor is inactive and the EGT drops below a setpoint the pump is stopped. All described above is for V2 ECU and software Vx30 and higher.

RE: Help! couldnt get my AMT 280 started today
Perhaps a smiple one but already saw it many times wrong. Check fuel and gas hoses and correct connection on turbine. Turbine will start on propane but the nozzle of the gas system cannot handle the fuel.

RE: Mercury air start problem . . .
Hi Scott, It seems that you have every thing correct. I suggest that the RPM sensor is not functioning anymore. Therefore the air sequence is not stop if it hits 5K RPM. This can only been seen on a EDT . Some try to find somebody with an EDT. Can you see if the sensor is not damaged. The surface must be clean at the compressor side. So no very small copper lead, just some (white) epoxy resin. What is the engine number of your turbine.

RE: Mercury air start problem . . .
Hi Scott, Did you look at the EDT for start clearance. When the glow plug fails it stated at the EDT as "No start clearance". Please check cables and glow plug.

RE: have a AMT 180 / mercury? need help turbine
Hi Randy, Please find here the answers: 1) I know it can run on jet a or keroseen but if i go to jet a do i still mix it with aeroshell turbine oil 500? Yes, jet or keroseen needs oil. Please mix as stated in the manual. 2) is aeroshell turbine oil 500 the same as BP turbo oil 2380? i have the bp stuff here in town at the local airport. Yes, both have the same MIL. specification. 3) I have bits and pieces of a manual but would like the whole thing. Ideas where i can get a complete one? Hereby the link to our manual: http://www.amtjets.com/pdf/AMT%20Mercury%20HP%20manual%20scan.pdf 4) The aplication I plan on useing will not be RC. So I dont need a remote. but would like to controll the throtle via a riostat. but dont know what voltages i need to operate or what wires. i figured out what harness but theres 3 wires. -The ECU is design to use RC-pulses. These pulse are 1...2ms long with a repeat time of 20ms. Please use a RC-pulse generator which can be bought on the net or schematics can also be found on the net. 5) The engine came with a AMT ASU it states in the instructons that i need a 3 way switch on the ECU to operate. there is a connector but no female conector. so all i need is to know what wire goes where in the 3 way switch. As described in point 4 the ECU uses two inputs for control. One channel is for the operating switch which has three positions. Another channel is used for throttle control. Please see manual. 6) I am interested in a smoke effect. if i understand this correctly all i need is to pump fuel at the tail of the motor and it will vaporize it. -Hereby a possible solution for smoke. http://www.amtjets.com/pdf/1%20valve%20smoke%20system%20using%20P2.pdf Please beware if the nozzle is too near the exhaust the vaporized fuel will ignite. PLEASE BE CAREFUL !!!!!

RE: AMT-Electric-Starter?
Hi Uwe, Sorry for the late reply. Remove of bendix using next steps. 1. Place a M3x60, not shorter !!!, screw in the front of the bendix. There is a threaded hole made. 2. Remove cover cap from electric starter 3. Place starter into a lathe (turning) and lock it gentle. 4. Heat up the M3 thread just in front of the bendix for approx. 30sec. It must reach approx. 500-700C (red/orange) 5. Pick up the heated thread with the drill head 6. Pull gently the bendix from the shaft. The glue is made soft by the heat. If it will not come off the shaft re-heated for another 30 sec. If you have questions please mail use at email@amtjets.com

Hi, Why must the clutch be removed ? We glue the bendix to the shaft so it will only be removed with force.

Hi, In 1989 I already explore the world for scale documentation. From Grumman historical department I received some blue prints and photo's . I re-scaled a drawing which was published for to .46 engines. Because I switch to turbine models I not interested so if somebody wants it perhaps we can make a deal. Greetings Ray
