RE: Need a couple leads
Thanks for the help guys. Just found Eureka last nite, got a point in the right direction. Won't need a canopy though, this will be a .60 curare/tiporare profile with tetracts!! Faux canopy by outline lol. I think it's gonna be a very worth while project. Keep ya posted.

RE: Need a couple leads
[:D] Thanks for the help guys! Decided it's either a curare or a magic for sure. Going to use the traditional coverings and retracts for a "scale" appearance in the bird. Now, who makes a wing kit or has the plans on these planes is the next step. Anyone have a file for lazer cutting or do that? So that's a wing kit or ribs for short[;)] Really appreciate the help, new to pattern so my knowledge first hand is squat, minus the venus .40 the 10 year old trashed this summer.[:o][;)]

And who said anything about things being handed to them? He has put in hours and hours a week to get the skills he has, nothing was handed to him,ever. He doesn't spend the whole week on the computer putting down others like you and and fly two times on sunday and call it all good. You texas are not like the friends I have made from texas. They are good people who don't sit around belittle others from a key board. Sounds to me like someone has put you in your place before and may be the reasoning for all the lowlife things you have to say about others. Lose of a bet is not stealing you fucktard!!!!!

STEALING? That is some harsh shit to imply right there!!!! Karma is a mean $%tch, watch what you say of others, it will bite you back. True colors? That old man spent several months on Scott's back with out him retorting at all. Scott turned the other cheek several, several times without a comment in return. But after all that, Scott gets even and you call him a thief??[X(] Sounds to me like you and the old man should meet. Then you guys could sit around and talk about how the world has done you wrong and how it's just wrong and how it's "owed" to you to act that way towards others. Meet several club members like you, big mouth, little brain, and even less common sense it seems. The fact that you put it all off Scott as stealing shows your true colors also!! HEY< maybe you and old man could meet and get that special 12.95 insurance[:D]

RE: AMA competitor launches! Sportfliers.com $20 per year
First off, the old prune was an officer of the club. Who was Scott gonna gripe? And it was OK for the old man to give him straight up crap for the whole year cuase he wanted to learn 3D? and it was wrong off Scott to make a smart ass remark, but the old ass has no liablility in the fact that he took the bet? A young man took advantage of the old man? As stated before, takes two t o tangle and yes, to me it was sweet poetic justice. If it was me the old man treated like that, he would have gotten hit in the mouth several times. Yeah I would have thrown out of the club, but it would have been worth it. Me and Scott came up the hard, and had to fight for everything we've accomplished in life. Someone like that old man had it coming in every way shape and form!!!! it's called karma, and the golden rule. the old man broke the golden rule and got what he deserved from karma. And yes, it does pertain to the ama, if it wasn't for the old prune officer, Scott would have loved that club, and the ama, instead, he hates the club setting, thinks ama is a joke cause of the constant "chartered club" wording all in the ama codes-suggestions, etc. I don't care you guys think ill of Scott, and I know he could care less of what you think of him. The old man bit off more than he could chew,even with the practice of chewing on Scott all year. And after the experiences I've had with "non savory" club members, I applaud Scott and advise the other mouthy old shits to think before you open your mouth, it could cost you more than you think, like your precious club when everyone stops coming around cause of these old farts. That causes lose of clubs, which does affect the ama. can I be any clearer on how it affects the ama. [8|]

RE: AMA competitor launches! Sportfliers.com $20 per year
This is kinda off topic, but kinda not. I was talking to some poeple today about the usama, they hadn't heard of it yet, and all the same points were made in that convo that has been made here. There was one statement that really struck me, " if that was available when I got the ama, I would have gotten that and said to hell with the prunes at such and such field." Asked him what happened to provoke a statement like that. He" bought everything I needed to fly, ama and all, club dues, and showed up at the field, only to have some old warturd flying prune look at my plane, look me up and down, and say "Ill stay down while you're in the air."" This same member, after wrecking several birds through the summer, would still come over and rag him for wanting to learn 3D. Scott has wrecked one plane in the journey from trainer to competent 3D flyer. He's very interested in the new insurance, and will drop the club and ama in a heart beat if this usama is legit. The ama has a very major problem growing on the horizon. If someone can actually provide the insurance, at a lower cost or hell equal, but covers you anywhere, then alot of people are gonna convert because of the "not so nice ama club members they encounter at the fields everyday. There are many 3D pilots I would wager will also convert(if it proves itself in time(), since we don't need a 150x600 field to land in. I was flying in the country, outlaw flying is the term I believe, and had more fun then flying by myself responsibly where I wanted, than all the crap associated with the clubs, rules, and $%ckheads that think they know it all. And Scott got the final laugh with the "prune". The guy missed the first four landings, and wrecked out his p-51 gold edition in the middle of the strip. Scott ragged him on a bet that he could tailtouch the wreckage and touch it in a knife edge without wrecking, and if he did, he was loading the guys wreckage and taking it home. The prune responded with, miss and I'm taking yours home. Scott said "bet" and fired up the slab. He took his da50, futaba fasst shit in the plane, and all the toothpicks and went home. Damn, karma is a ^&tch!!! I know and appreciate all the ama does for me, what I don't like is the fact that it tends to lock you into clubs that are sometimes very unsavory in how they treat new pilots, or pilots that fly different styles. These problems at the club level will move up to the top eventually(lowering memberships are already apparent), and will plague the ama in the future. They better take a look and figure out what they are gonna do. This usama may be a sham, but someone will have the resources to make a legit run of things and then it will get really interesting.
ORIGINAL: YogoBlue We also have special coverage but its called NotePadFlyer Coverage. If you bring a plane, and jaw jack it at the field instead of fly, act like an authority to those that are flying this coverage is for you. Its only 12.00 a year and you have to promise to continue to NOT fly when at a sanctioned field. Can you not afford your planes, are you in too deep in the RC hobby, wife or girlfriend wont LET you fly? Others at the field wont let you use your gold stickered radio? Do you think 2.4 is a scam and just another frivolous expense? Do you find it next to impossible to hit the runway when you do try to fly? This coverage is for you!! If you are one of the wise few who realize all planes crash its just a matter of time we have a tailored program for you!
[sm=biggrin.gif] That's funny right there!!

It may be for some folks, and I might be missing out on the next greatest thing in this hobby... but I don't think it's for me.
Why do they need a shopping cart? they only offer one thing. What do else do they provide? nothing, that's why it's so cheap. no printshop, museum,etc. You getting special treatment from Geiko? All I ever got from them was insurance. oh, that's all they provide so[sm=idea.gif] I'm a skeptic and waiting also to see how they come out over time. But I see no reason to 8 ball a company cause a guy is trying to provide an alternative to AMA. And yes, I know what AMA does for me all the time. that it will. I just want to pay for my insurance needs, not the new museum add on or what ever the newest expense is. I don't really care about the other stuff, we fly for fun and that's it. And I know they are the voice in DC, and that is valuable it seems in itself, but 20-30k people joining a new voice in the industry would have an impact also I feel.

RE: AMA competitor launches! Sportfliers.com $20 per year
I just read the whole site word for word and there is a lack of info there for sure. BUT, if they can provide adequate insurance, and site insurance in the future, AMA has a problem. I'm a charter member of our club, and our club only has 6 members. we shoulder the cost of everything. the fees, the safety needs, all of it and the money involved is a major concern. If they are legitimate(time will tell) and offer the same insurance, and same site insurance, then our club would very possibly switch. And my son flies also, so I shoulder 33% of those costs. "and if ya don't like it leave, we don't need ya" hum, wonder why the AMA is under the gun, some of the members are just so proactive in recruitment and promotion. wait, that could be part of the problem.[X(]

RE: An ARF Nation
ORIGINAL: Stickbuilder Every year fewer and fewer people build their own. Most of those who do, are getting older, and we all know what that brings. Who do you know that draws, cuts and builds their own who are younger than 40? Flying is a great hobby. Flying what you have built is even more fun. Where is the pride? Bill, Waco Brother #1
I have to build my own from kits!! I fly Swany planes and a kit is the only way you can get them anymore! I'm 34, and am teaching my 10 year old solo pilot I taught to build kits. It's not that building is dying, it's not being passed along from generation to genreation, the pride of the build. Go to the fields and you'll see 2 generations usually. the 60 and up group and the 30 something and younger group. I wholly agree that RTF's,ARF's, and 3D is what has kept this hobby going, cause there is such a large gap between the generations that wasn't bridged at some point, somehow. And the worst thing is, the two groups usually at some point bump heads cause they have two different views of the hobby, when we should be sharing all the experience between all. both groups have alot to learn from each!! But what usually happens is the old cj with the fokker sits there and criticizes the younger flyer for how he flies(usually 3D is involved)and the young pilot instead of wanting to learn the years of knowledge from the veteran retaliates by going against everything the vetern says. Sad, but I have seen it first hand!!! The veterans could learn new ways,moves in flying from the young and the young could learn the physics and setup of a good plane from the veteran. Ask a newer pilot what mechanical differential is, and half have no idea, but the old guys know.We should be sharing, not hating between the generations
