RE: Custom 1/5 Onroader Build!

RE: Custom 1/5 Onroader Build!
yeah I could make it a solid rear axle i guess and keep the suspension up front...but without a diff would it have a really bad turning radius? cuz i will most likely only really drive it at a parking lot track guys setup every week in the summer near me for 1/5 and 1/8 onroad cars so.. not competitive but i want to make the turns lol.also wouldnt I have to make the ride hieght higher to clear the sproket on the axle? idk i will keep looking around. thanks for the help.

Custom 1/5 Onroader Build!
Ok well I have the front and rear end of a Lightening stadum pro 1/8 truggy. I figured the width was about right to make a 1/5 onroader, what do you guys think? If it is I was wondering what you guys think about this idea? I will most likely do a dual nitro engine[:D]setup, I would love a gasser but all the sprockets and things totally throw me off. lol. I would probaly make it 2wd becuase its easier but possibly 4wd later on. Let me know what you guys think. thanks[:D]

RE: Custom 1/5 Onroader Build!
Ok so I was thinking that maybe twin nitros wouldnt be the best idea...it would be awsome but two big blocks would use almost a gallon for one session at the parking lot! What I was wondering is if there is a way I could run say a small 2 stroke engine like a chainsaw engine or a weedwacker engine or somthing but still connect it to the truggy rear end? I think that would be cooler also not to mention the run times I would get. lmk what you guys think.

RE: Custom 1/5 Onroader Build!
yeah I think a chassis that long at 3mm would flex. thats why I want 5mm, if my dad can bring home a sheet of 3mm i would try it though, no complaints haha. Not like im jumping it sinces its an onroad car but twin engines is gonna put some stress on the chassis.

RE: Custom 1/5 Onroader Build!
Yeah ive toyed with the idea before but never actually got around to doing it, till now![:D] My dad just got home and I asked him about the aluminum and he said he might have a sheet I could have at work, I sure hope so becuase the sheet of aluminum for the chassis would cost me $60! I mean the full tranny is only $70 come on...lol If he has it I will start the chassis tomorrow or this weekend(depending on when he can get it) if not Ill have to order it and wait.......[8|] lol

RE: Custom 1/5 Onroader Build!
nice builds there DVP TTR same here[:D] Ok so im pretty sure im gonna go with dual mach 427's or dual axial .28's and for the tranny I was thinking maybe a savage 3speed tranny as its cheap and would give it some good speed[8D]

RE: Custom 1/5 Onroader Build!
yeah that sounds good. Ill have a look around. I just went through the basement looking for some cardboard to mock up the chassis, i saw a sheet of aluminum the perfect thickness and i pulled it out and!.........only about 6in long haha thats sucks lol. I can find any cardboard either, maybe I will start on the real chassis this weekend though. [:D]

[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3BU2gmpTEss[/youtube] [link]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3BU2gmpTEss[/link] Also about reducing the weight umm you could try some aluminum but not too much...? im not really sure lol. its not that heavy stock so idk maybe someone else knows. RE: The Official Traxxas Slash short-course race truck
Ok well it stopped raining so I took the slash for the first test. O...M..G lol this thing is a freakin beast! I havent gotten over 1/2 throttle becuase i run out of room in my yard or becuase it flips over! lol and the greass is wet so traction is like gone and it still rips! I took a little vid, dont really go over 1/4 throttle in the vid since i was filming and driving. My rx pack broke loose at the end and it ran away but stoped in my neightbors yard, phew haha. (at the end i put the cam down, thought i turned it off but its still recording so you can just turn the vid off lol) [link]http://s437.photobucket.com/albums/qq99/oday1395/?action=view&current=July-24-0951326.flv[/link]
