RE: matchboxes causes radio failure?!
That tells me you have some serious linkage issues
If you'll re-read my post, I mentioned that I only changed the servo's program, I didn't touch the linkage. Yes, the linkage could have been adjusted to avoid binding at certain points, but not for the whole range. If you can set one up without some way of adusting the individual servos, I'd be very impressed. I thought mine were adjusted pretty well, untill I put a meter on them. Try it, you might be suprised.

RE: matchboxes causes radio failure?!
I set up a my 33% Cap this summer using Hitec 5945's. I used an ammeter during the set up to measure current to the servos throughout thier full range of travel. Without programming endpoints or centers, I saw loads as high as 800 milliamps at discrete points within the range of travel on mulit-servo surfaces (ail and rudder). The worst possible (I never actually saw it happen) senario being 3 surfaces times 800 milliamps. That's 2.4 amps not including the other 4 servos on board and the Rx, and that is with no flight loads, only servo contention. Changing only the endpoints(no linkage adjustment), I was able to bring the current down to about 50 milliamps per servo pair at any given point in thier range of travel. Ailerons probably don't have a uniform load during flight, but if the servos are already fighting, then the flight loads just aggravate an already bad situation. Sure you can get by without matching them, but I sleep a lot better knowing that the chances of having a current spike high enough to cause a voltage drop large enough to "shut down" my Rx, are very low. Even if it's only likely to happen 1 in 50 times or more. A lot of unexplainable glitches aren't.

If you are using outlook express, you can set up mail rules to delete the unwanted messages from your server. You can specify individual senders. I think you can also impose size limitations. You can also report the offending sender to thier ISP. HTH

Fiber optic Kill switch
It is my belief that the choke should only be used to prime the engine to start it and NEVER to kill it unless that is absolutely the only way left to stop the engine. It loads the cylinder with gasoline and makes the next start harder
Just for the sake of argument, wouldn't using a kill switch do the same thing? When the switch is flipped, the engine turns over a couple more times, pumping fuel into the engine, with no spark to burn it. FWIW I use the choke.

Os 1.60fx, Is It Enough?
I don't know the specs on either plane you listed, but the 160 provides unlimited vertical on my 11.5lb Sig Cap. Just saying that it has unlimited doesn't tell the whole story though. One of the ways I like to show off how over powered the plane is to take off at 1/4 throttle, pull to vertical as soon as I leave the ground, then nail the throttle and accelerate straight up. It does so with authority. To make a long story short, if the airframe in question is close to that in weight, you'll have power to spare. HTH.

First Flights on my Wild Hare Extra!
The new plane looks great Tim, and I can see you're already making it look good with the flying. Now I'm sorry I missed the fly-in Saturday. I gave my first big one it's maiden flight last week. Everything went well, but for some reason the transmitter started leaking water all over the place.
My house usually isn't so messy
Yeah, what a pig sty! Mine doesn't look that good after I clean it. I just completed the same plane, with the same engine. The only difference is, I used the 5945's. I have one flight so far, and it felt good as soon as it left the ground. I can't figure out why they stopped making this plane. Enjoy your new cap, I know I will!

OS 1.60fx prop for 3d
I have the 160 in a Sig Cap. I like the APC 18X8 wide for all around flying. I've tried the 18X6 wide, but I think the 8 gives a "softer" feel in a hover. What I mean by that is, it's easier to stop the plane without having it creep up or down. The 18x8 also smooths out the flying in the rest of the flight envelope. Another reason I prefer the 8 is better fuel economy. Lower throttle settings for equal speeds means less c.c.'s per minute. For the record, I get about 9000 with the 6, and 8000 with the 8.

Hanger 9 1/3 Scale Cap From Chief Aircraft
I have one. It's beautiful. The first one I got from Chief had the cowl and fuse damaged by Fed-Ex. I sent it back, and Chief sent me a new fuse, but the same cowl. I'm still waiting on the cowl. I'm not so impressed with Chief. It was not thier fault that the plane was damaged, but they haven't exactly killed themselves getting new parts out.

Keep it light
In my opinion, the high altitude combined with the heavy engine and the tail weight you would have to add would make that plane fly like a brick. Sounds like you've already decided that though. Now, here's the part where I add something constructive: I have that plane, with an OS 160. Keep it light, and it will reward you. I've not flown in high altitude, but here, the 160 provides truely unlimited vertical. If the 160 doesn't give you all you need at your altitude, use some of the $350 extra you would have spent on the DA, and get some carbon replacement parts. Such as landing gear and a spinnner. I got a carbon gear for a Goldberg Sukoi that weighed half what the stock gear did. Do everything you can think to do to trim weight, and you will be VERY happy with that plane. Good luck.
