RE: Concept 30 Mysterious Liftoff Problem Help! Please!
Hey, I'm back. Sorry I took so long, but this was the only available time. Well, good new. I "refurbished" so to speak, the heli- It now has a new clutch bell & liner, new ball links, new servo, new engine, and a new gyro. This was all changed after the heli wouldn't fly anymore, and it seems the problem was probably a combination of the ball links not set right, a bad pitch curve, and possibly something else. Today, we got to the field, and she started right up. Had trouble with the tail, but got it fixed. Next flight, started up again, and we had pitch curve problems (actually, during both but we were gonna fix it during the second flight). We got that fixed. I was gonna do a couple more flights, but my training gear broke. I was lifting the chopper, and where i notched the wood for a better fit, it just sheared off. Not a big problem though, can make a new one (and he let me borrow his for the rest of the flights). Another problem was the engine. It started well with the new glow-plug starter the first two times, but then the engine wouldn't start anymore. We checked EVERYTHING, and nothing turned up. Finally, as a last option, we decided to use his. That did it. Everytime, it worked. I can now almost hover for 30 seconds (3 inches- 6inches above ground). I checked all the connections with a voltmeter (my dad's a master electrician), and everything works. When i set up everything (except screw in the glow-plug), I can see the glow-plug burn the little bit of fuel (puff of smoke). I think it may not work super well because if there is too much fuel, it just seems to bubble. Oh well, just need to repair training gear and find the problem with the glow starter. (yes, it puts out 1.47 volts, it's not dead). So, finally, SHE FLIES!!!!! That's what it all comes down too. Not sure what the problem was, but I fixed it, and I can hover her fairly well (pretty good for first day). Thank you guys for the input. Happy Holidays!!!!!!!

RE: Concept 30 Mysterious Liftoff Problem Help! Please!
I already checked the clutch; it WAS a little worn so i went ahead and replaced it along with the clutch. Therfore, i know that's not the problem. However, the one-way-bearing is something I haven't checked. I "refurbished" the helicopter with new ball links, new clutch and liner, new engine, and reset the pitch and made it -3 low stick and +10 high stick. I am going to try to run it and see if anything works tomorrow. I am installing another mechanical gyro before i go and spend the money for a new gyro (not mech). I just want to see if this gyro works first. Give you an update Sat.

RE: Concept 30 Mysterious Liftoff Problem Help! Please!
I do have somone more experienced. I called him yesterday (11/29) and the best time for him is Saturday, so saturday it is. In the meantime I guess I'll run the engine, clean it up, and see if I can't set the pitch up before I go see him. I got my pics up in the gallery, not many, but I can ony post 6 anyway. Umm, yea, like I said, Saturday is the day so I'll post on sat or monday and give you an update on wether we found the problem or not. Happy holidays and good flights!

RE: Concept 30 Mysterious Liftoff Problem Help! Please!
I have looked for binding, but find none. It doesn't really help when you guys say the servos should have adequate, because now I am a little MOre clueless (jk thanks for the input, saves me $ lol). I am going to call someone who knows quite a bit about helis today. If I find out anything, I'll go ahead and post as soon as I know. I'm also gonna try to get some pics up today, if possible. A question, not related, is what is GWS? Thanks, i'll post soon. Happy Holidays!!

RE: Concept 30 Mysterious Liftoff Problem Help! Please!
Thank you for your reply. I was going through all the possibilities and what you said about the servo had come across my mind, too. I replaced the old one with a new one, but it was quit cheap so it might be too weak. All my servos, except tail rotor and main rotor collective, are FUTABA S5101. The rest are HITEC-300. It's just confusing how it works one day, then stops working the other. I will get some more info on the heli, and i'll post some pics tomorrow sometime. Thanks

Well, it sort of gets light, it could alomost "hover" across the ground, but it would be less than 1mm above the ground. I have tried giving it all the pitch possible, and yet it still only "hovers" around.

Concept 30 Mysterious Liftoff Problem Help! Please!
I have a Concept 30 ( I think it's DX or SR, I'll get the info and post A.S.A.P). I have been learning to fly this helicopter for a few days with a more experienced pilot; had a few problems. First, the engine was bad, so I got a new (used new) one, works fine. Then, the tail rotor was acting up; fixed that. Of course, the gyro is going out, so I will be getting one soon. BUT, those are all problems we (instructor and I ) have been able to diagnose. Now, there is a serious problem that has baffeld us both. We check the pitch before takeoff (along with the rest of the preflight), and everything is fine. Until! the enginge spools up and the rpms start hitting the green (takeoff rpm range, not hitting the grass lol). We check the rpms with a special gauge, everything is okay, but it acts like there is No pitch input whatsoever. We stop the heli, check again (even with a pitch gauge), everything is okay. Bring her up to speed, no lift off. The answer to this problem has eluded us both for quite a while. I would love to continue my learning soon, but this is hindering it greatly. If anyone has a Concept 30 and has had this problem, or if you know the answer to this problem, Please Help! Thank YOU!!!

Dragonfly 22D i Need Help
I was looking on ebay and found a Dragonfly 22d. It doesnt' have a tail motor, it's like the gas helis. I was reading the parts list and it said it only has 2 servos, how is this possible? it's altitude is controlled with esc, but the for/back roll left/right and tail rotor are all non-esc (swashplate with for back left/right and pitch with the tail). Is this helicopter capable of all aspects of flight? EXcluding the maneuvers with collective pitch, is it fully capable like a .30 or something (not talking about power, more or less about flight capabilities) anyone who owns one, could you get me a movie or more info? Thank You Also, can someone clearly explain proportional controls? thanks and happy holidays!!!!!![:D] says it uses axis rotating system what is that?
