RE: I think i'm going to get the HK-600gt help needed!
ORIGINAL: jeffdearduff Its to bad you didn't get the HK600GT. It is a great helicopter. There are a few things in the kit that do need to be changed out but the rest of the kit is top quality. I spent $150 us for the kit and another $80 on replacement parts. Not a bad deal for a 600 size bird. This thing runs great. Your choice of electronics is where the quality of this bird comes in to play. If you buy cheap electronics then you get what you pay for. It's to bad you could have saved yourself some money. One thing you always find on these forms are the guys who say "only buy the name brand stuff." A trex 600 is $1000.00 new. No way I am going to pay that. I spent half that and I have a great heli.
I can honestly say that you are incorrect. I bought the 600 and eventually replaced almost every part. Between slop issues and threads stripping out easily because the aluminum is so soft, it ended up being a waste of time and money. Also it is nowhere near a great heli. It may be great for the idea that you can get it in the air for less money. That is if that is all you are concerned about. It isn't about name brand, it is about quality and HK heli's just don't have it. The only Trex clone that I have seen that can match the quality is RC Aerodyne Chaos helis. I have used a few of their parts and have been quite pleased with them.

RE: Will changing paddle angle affect windy day performance?
Also using a longer flybar may also help.
Making the flybar longer makes the cyclic quicker, not slower. You can add weights and all that stuff and it will slow down the cyclic. The problem still remains that it is a small helicopter and is quite light. So I personally don't agree with y'alls assumptions.

RE: Will changing paddle angle affect windy day performance?
I have been flying the 450 as my primary heli for about 3 years now. From my experience, it is a small and light helicopter. I personally just deal with the fact that because of it's weight and size, there are going to be limitations when it comes to the wind. I have never head of changing the paddle angle and I personally wouldn't screw with it. It is designed to be a neutral flight control and it is basically a mechanical gyro. You could go flybarless on it and the gyro stabilization may help a bit in windy conditions. I had fbl installed for a short time on my 450, but it went out on me and didn't get the chance to fly it in windy conditions.

RE: WHen lifting heli goes left.....
its a condition that real helicopter pilots have to compensate for as well...given that their tail rotor is on the right side of the boom looking from the boom to the canopy.
Well there you go, we are not flying full scale heli's. A lot of the issues that full scale has to deal with doesn't apply to us. Don't forget that if you are flying fbl, the gyro also compensate for those changes.
If any heli with a right mounted tail rotor doesnt go left on liftoff...that means you have the mechanical setup off a bit to compensate. ALL helis that are right side tail rotor, go left on liftoff. It shouldnt be extreme or your mechanical setup is off in the other direction.
I was going back and reviewing as to what may be a misunderstanding, are you talking about the tail rotor or cyclic going left? After looking at all the posts, the original post does not mention if it is cyclic or rudder going left.

On the restoration projects, I figured that when I watched the video. I figured it was a clone, it would be cheaper for them to build. It is also the ESP version as well. If you are wanting one built, let me know and I can help you with that.

RE: WHen lifting heli goes left.....
not trying to put you down but if you have to add any trim then you need to go back through your mechanical setup! PEACE!
You aren't putting me down by any means because I have confidence in what I say. The purpose of trim is to make minor corrections. When dealing with a flybar heli, it isn't unusual to make a few minor adjustments after making the larger mechanical adjustments.

RE: Airwolf helicopter purchase (Be careful)
I just watched your video again and noticed a few interesting things. 1. You said that you were flipping switches and it fired up. Sounds like what happened is that you disengaged the throttle hold. 2. You said that you had to give it full throttle to stop. In the radio, most likely the throttle is reversed. If I didn't hear correctly, feel free to correct me.
i would love to see a video of that no hands on the right stick taking off and the heli not wanting to go left trim or no trim!
I am not sure why you find that so hard to believe. Not trying to put you down, but it doesn't sound like you have much experience with heli's. I have a Trex 450 Pro and Trex 600 and I don't have that issue with them.

Yep, once they are trimmed out. Now if the winds are fairly strong, then I will most likely have to compensate.

RE: Airwolf helicopter purchase (Be careful)
I was just pricing the stuff and I estimate that a trex 600 with the airwolf body would be around $1100 U.S. That is not including a radio. Or for about $300 more, you could go flybarless on it. That is depending on what unit you would want to use.

RE: Airwolf helicopter purchase (Be careful)
From looking at your video, it looks like a Trex 600 with a airwolf body. I don't know about RTF, but the Trex 600 and airwolf bodies are dime a dozen. You could've easily built it yourself for about the same money or even cheaper. If you do a build like that, make sure you have it flying good before you put it in a scale body. BTW, just out of curiosity what is your heli flying experience?
Lower your head speed. dial in your head lock gyro 300 400 500 size helicopter gyro again to wher its a rock solid holding. ( gp780 is an excellent gyro) And from ther just tweak your head speed back up and gyro settings to match.
There is no reason to lower your headspeed. If you do that, then your setting might be off again when you bring it back up. I still don't think much of the GP780 from my experience. BTW, what tail servo are you running?

RE: DSX9 idle up and flight modes
The Blade SR is a variable pitch helicopter. When you move the the throttle, you also change the pitch at the same time. Whenever you change the flight mode, you also change the throttle and your pitch curves to whatever you have set up in the radio. You should find someone local to help set it up properly.

RE: flight Disorder
Trash it. It is what I call a Wal-Mart special. Fly it until it breaks and then trash it. If you want something for kids and fly around the house, get a E-Flite MCX or a CX Scout. It is small and durable. You can also get parts for it as well.
I also need advice about larger helicopters/quads that can be used in tandem to lift 10-20lbs together outside.
Used in tandem???? To lift that much for a a regular heli, you would have to use at least a 600 size heli. 20 lbs is a hell of a load for a rc heli.

RE: Replacement part questions.
If it's a true trex clone,
It isn't hard to tell if it is a trex clone. It says Blue sky at the beginning, so it doesn't appear to be trying to pass off as an actual trex. To be honest, if you are just learning, you can pretty much stick with the clone parts for now. You won't notice any difference hovering. If you are to upgrade anything, upgrade the electronics. That is something you can take with you and pass on to your next heli.

RE: WHen lifting heli goes left.....
its a Link this word and every other one like it in our forum to YOUR Website! walkera 4# and everytime i go to lift up it just flys left and crash.
It is most likely out of trim. Every time I give the car more throttle, it goes to the left. It is the same concept. Make sure your swash is level and give it some right trim if needed. if it is far off, then you will most likely either need to adjust it mechanically and/or adjust your sub trim.
going to the left on takeoff is pretty normal on take off the more you get use to take offs you will learn to use a bit of right input to tame it!
If a heli is properly trimmed, that should not be the case.

RE: Newbe with 450
You should be learning your hovering orientations first. The 450 is small and having issues with seeing it far away isn't uncommon. One of the things you can do is get some bright orange cover tape from the LHS. Cut some pieces off and put in spots that you think it could help. I sometimes stick something on the tail to help. Finding a good canopy with colors that work also helps as well.

It wouldn't have been so bad if they made the tail boom holder one solid piece instead of too. I actually crushed a boom tryin to make it tight enough so it wouldn't move.

RE: My 450 tail jerks violently all of a sudden!?
I personally would trash the Align gyro. I had a similar issue once and made me crash. A few setup stuff to help out. I can recommend a very inexpensive gyro and works absolutely fantastic. 1. Make sure you are using gyro tape to hold the gyro down. 2. Inhibit the gyro function on the radio. 3. Use the gear travel adjustment to adjust your gain. The left will be your HH mode and the right will be your rate mode. 4. Use sub trim only to center the servo(make sure you are in rate mode when you do this to ensure the servo is centered. 5. Hover in rate mode. "Do not use any standard trim." Adjust the tail mechanically either moving the servo back and forth or adjust your tail control rod. Continue doing this until you can hover it in rate mode with minor adjustments. 6. You can use the gyro menu if you have a 7 channel receiver on the DX7 and you have to plug the gain into AUX 2.

RE: Hk600 tail not holding
The 780 are good servos.
Not a good gyro, I personally like the GA250 gyro and I am having great success with it on the 450 and 600. In fact, it has performed better than my Futaba GY520. You are in luck, I have the answer that you are looking for. I had the HK600 belt drive and it has a known flaw. The teeth on the belt pulleys are too shallow. I am willing to bet that you hear a weird sound when you punch it. Well that is the belt slipping. You can go two routes. The first is to spend the money to convert to a torque tube. The cheaper route is the go buy the Align belt gears. RE: CopterX 500 / HK 500 CMT tail rotor grip failing in flight
I find it funny that you all are talking about this. I had the same exact problem on my 450 Pro. I had the EXI blade grips on it and the bolt snapped on me. I was lucky and was able to get it down safely. I switched to the RC Aerodyne Chaos 450 tail blade grips and haven't had any problems since. Funny on how I thought it was a rare occasion, but apparently not so rare after all.
