RE: What do you use to clean your monokote?
I have gotten into the habit of doing a quick wipe to remove the residue after each flight. Then at the end of the flying session, I wipe the model down with a combo of windshield washer fluid and rubbing alchohol. You can use Windex also. Some people even use Rain X as they say it helps the oil bead and slide off. I used to use paper towels but I find that a nice soft rag does a better job and the rags can just be washed at home and recycled.

I use two 12v Fire Alarm Panel sealed batteries hooked in series for 24v on my Sullivan Dynatron and it works great. RE: Seagull Yak?
The only problem that I have had with mine was the Pilots dash popped off and was rattling around inside the canopy. Hardly had any glue on it, so I had to cut the section out below the dash, and glue it all back in. Any more trouble to that area and I will remove the entire bottom of the canopy.
ORIGINAL: rowdyjoe Sourkraut,     Thanks for the advice. I just weighed and balanced her and she came in at 10 lbs even. Balance at 5.5'' back from LE at the root was just a tad nose heavy. MUCH better. I like my birds to fly neutral so, I may add an ounce or two to get the sweet spot. When I turn them inverted, I like little to no forward stick at mid throttle.Â

RE: Seagull Yak?
ORIGINAL: rowdyjoe Well, she's all in one piece. I mounted the cowl about an hour ago after a bit of trial and error. It fits fine and looks good and all the stuff that heats up should get plenty of cooling. ;) Assembled everything and attempted to balance her at the factory CG ....7 to 8 CM back from the leading edge at the wing tip. OOOPS !  Waaaaaay nose heavy. Guess that little 20cc gasser is heavier than it looks. Haven't weighed it yet but, that's next. I've searched this thread for CG advice and find that most folks are recommending 5.5 inches back from the leading edge at the root. I'll try that next but, wanted to look around a bit first to see if there is a consensus about the CG location. I'm still hoping for first flight tomorrow but, I'm getting pretty tired. I've been working on this bird since about 11 AM. Ran the engine for a while and found that I'm getting 7700 RPM with a 16x8 Xoar prop and velocity stack installed. I removed the stack to make the cowl fit better and I discovered that it cost me 500 RPM. Lesson learned ....velocity stacks work well. :) More later. RJ
Definately balance it at 5.5" back from the leading edge next to the fuse.....mine balanced spot on with a Saito 180 (31oz) by simply positioning the RX battery to rear of the fuse under the canopy area. Not sure what your gasser wieghs, but it may take more than that to balance it correctly.

RE: Repair is on the bench, And I am not In to it.
I have six crashed/trash canned planes in my fleet....some done in by me and some by others. But resurrecting a given up on plane can be very rewarding....here are a few photos of some that I have resurrected to give you some more insperation that anything is possible. I need to start taking before pics.... the Raptor was ground looped and mings damaged and nose tore completely off the Funtana was crashed, saved from the trash can and totally rebuilt the Hog Bipe was slated for the trashcan due to years of neglect, saved, rebuilt and recovered the NexStar was crashed, rebuilt and modded others I don't have photos of... H9 PTS Mustang and H9 Tango.... both broke in half and rebuilt

RE: I want a Spitfire from Santa
Of the 2 mentioned, I would go with the H9 over the Kyosho. A guy I know put together the Kyosho Spifire and it was not a nice flying plane at all and the build quality "just wasn't there" in his words. I have owned many H9 planes (not the Spitty though) and have been very happy with all to this point. Just my opinion here...your mileage may vary!

My brother and I have a mitt full of GMS engines...2-.47s, 3-.61s and 2-.76s..... all great runners. I also have a TH.75 and it is a super strong, very reliable engine that has a home in my Tiger 60. As good as the OS we run. Too bad that they are not available anymore.... On a brighter note, there is a gent up here that has a NIB TH.75 that I can get hold of for 110.00 shipped.....just might snag that one up for later.[;)]

The Mods and Admins on here deseve a huge thanks for doing a thankless job in my honest opinion. It does take a level head to balance the Ying and Yang, as they have to be impartial and look at both sides of every dispute and decide how to proceed from there. I enjoy coming here and browsing on RCU without the stress of having to moderate or administrate the site and members. Gives me some R and R time before I have to go back. Take care all

RE: Texas RC Planes Piper Pawnee??
ORIGINAL: ACKopter Some where around the 100'' wingspan mark. The one being offered here is 97'' I believe. RC guys have one that is very similar in size but I have decide to find other options based on what I have read of RC guys quality. H-9 has a smaller one (too small) and a larger one(way too expensive) so this seems to be next option.
The RC Guys offering is a Cessna AgWagon not a Pawnee. I bought and asembled one of these 4 years ago, and like mentioned previously, the covering seperates rather easily. If you take great care, then it is not a problem. The Arf was easy to put together but had the typical chinese Arf short comings. Special attention has to be taken with beefing up the landing gear block and fuel proofing, other than that, pretty straight forward assembly and looks great once completed.[:D] It looks great and flies fantastic...nothing better than doing low mock spray passes over the fields in the summer. Sold mine 2 years ago...not one of my wiser decisions.[:o]
